Dji avinox- Amflow - Discussion

Whilst I'm here. I have engaged the Auto-shift on my Amflow PL Carbon Pro. And when you shift up or down the motor does spool the chainwheel without you needing to pedal. So there is actual communication between the DJI motor and the SRAM Eagle Transmission derailleur. I have only tested this in my workshop, and not riding yet. But it does seem to spool the motor for way too long, and could cause control issues when riding in a very tight situation.

I have this same feature on my Merida E160 with the Shimano EP801 motor and the XT Di2 Derailleur. And it doesn't spool the chainwheel for near as long.

Been raining here madly so I should get to test this in a few days. I'll report back.
Stupid question but where do I activate AutoShift? Been looking up & down the app but no luck..

Also i have 2 gears that jump under high pressure - any settings I can change to improve this?

Anyone riding an amflow here around 14 stone ? Ordering a large - I’m 186cm with a long torso but suddenly worried I’m on the heavy side of if I start doing BPW etc … 😅

I am 95kg with gear, which is 14 and a bit stone. I am a bit shorter than you at 182cm.

The bike has a maximum capacity of 125kg with gear. You'll be fine. (y)

I have noticed that my pro with the 600w battery drops a few % battery in 24 hours when it's powered off, I'm not in a great cellular area so guess the modem is using some power to connect to the network, same for the GPS. Anyone else noticed idle battery consumption?. I know all battery's do it but didn't really consider the cellular connection usage... ?

It's probably more to do with the temperature drop overnight, I have noticed this on my bike in the colder days towards the start of the year, but now it's warmed up and it doesn't dip below 10 degrees C at night it doesn't happen.

Cold temperature really is the kryptonite for batteries.

Change to a decent tyre and/ot better wheels and you are unlikely to suffer from any flex in the bike.
Hi, I think @Reximus is asking as having heard - like me - that the frame would be flexing more than other bikes in the steering head area. What imho can not be influenced by wheels or tires. Please correct me if I am mistaken. Being also not light weight I btw have the same question. 🙂

It's just Smoothshift and it's in the bikes touchscreen, when you swipe up from the home page. And it's more like a coast shift. So you index the gears up or down, and the motor spools the chainwheel without you having to pedal, so it automatically lifts the chain up or down on the cassette.

In Advanced Features. I also have chain protection turned on. This just dips the motor power when you shift. I had this on my Bafang Motor. And it really does help protect both the chain and cassette, when you shift under full power, which I sometimes do when climbing, or powering out of a corner.

In the SRAM AXS App, try adjusting the microshift setting. It should be on the default setting of 7. Try going 2 numbers up. Test it. Then try going 2 numbers down. Test that.

Also check your derailleur hasn't been bumped back. There are 2 lines on the derailleur connection to the frame. They should be perfectly in line with each other. My derailleur got bumped back and wasn't shifting as perfectly. I just pushed it back and shifting was perfect again.

How do you find the bike ? Much flex or even is it ‘good’ flex ?

Absolutely love it. Rides fantastically.

Not noticed any flex whatsoever, but then again I've not stood on the bike at funny angles then act all surprised when something flexes when applying force from a strange direction it wasn't designed for.

I'm 17 stone, no issues.

On another note anyone gone 150mm cranks?

Peeps in the know...the rumor mill has it that DJi will be coming out with Anivox 2.0 or some iteration of a new motor within a year or two. Any validity to it?

Another 170 longer travel DJI rig is due out next year. Just wondering and don't want to get caught between motor updates if solid info is out there.

IF it’s anything like the drone world, DJi will of course release new products with different suffixes.

They usually keep them tightly under wraps, but after a while a drum beat emerges that give an indication about when the next iteration may drop.

Again, if you want or need an Avinox powered bike, then there’s a lot to be said for just buying in and enjoying it. There’s always something around the corner, their business depends on it at the end of the day.

I’d be surprised if anybody knew any firm information at this point, and if they do they won’t be saying!

Rumor has it, it was EMBN Steve Smith. If so, he's fairly well connected.

Personally, I thought it a bit too soon, but as you said, DJI seems to move fast. However, my case is that a few peeps got left behind in Shimano and Bosch worlds of yesteryears with new motor models emerging as they're putting out 7-9 k for a new rig to be losing out on significant upgrades. DJI appears to be very dynamic, so if they have something important like a neural hud display, it's nice to get a heads up earlier rather than later...so there is precedence!👊

Personally, if I can wait for V2 of anything I'll always wait.
Sure, this has been traditional and sage wisdom. But DJI just disrupted the market and set a gold standard...they might be worth the future risk in a V2?

There’s a 100% certainty they’re working on a new motor.

But I think it’s probably at least 12 months out still - possibly even 24 months.

I don’t think we’ll have to wait as long as Bosch’s product cycles but it’s probably a way away.

Mtb monster offering these wheel upgrades … I want to mullet it just not sure on this wheelset ..

I’ve been looking at this, but wondered if the bike came with the 29er wheelset and tyres as well? Was going to drop them an email as I’m likely to order one shortly from them. Unless someone is aware of an actual dealer somewhere between Brum and Bristol

As far as I’m aware with the short email exchange I’ve had with them, they would keep the original wheelset … so I’m guessing it’s an upgrade deal on the new wheels…

Thanks, I’ll pass on that then. I’m not bothered on the hope wheels enough. So I’ll just buy a different set or find somewhere that will do a deal
On both

Not on the amflow website yet but the bikeshop at cannock chase - "cannock chase cycle shop" have just started selling them and have them on display

Going 2 down to 5 has done the trick, thanks a lot!! Man, this SRAM AXS setup is a serious game changer — smooth, precise, and totally dialed in.

I would love to see a removable battery option or a range extender port at least, in next amflow emtb revisions/models. The lack of any of this features is just what kept me from picking one.

I have a 720Wh Ecoflow. I just take that with me if I think I need more riding. When I stop for a food break, I use the Amflow fast charger. In 60 mins it will add back about 60%. That's an additional 480Wh to the battery.

That makes about 1280Wh.

As I have an Electric Vehicle. I can charge the Ecoflow from the cars 12V, and charge the bike from the Ecoflow, at the same time. So I can still do a full charge of the bike in about 2hrs at my car.

I prefer this this to carrying the extra weight of frame, to make the frame support a detachable battery, or the extra weight of a range extender.

In the situations where I really must have 1200Wh without going back to my car. I'll use my spare bike which has a spare 630Wh detachable battery.

I'm of the opinion, that the best bike to ride, is the bike that fits 95% of your riding. And not to compromise the bikes capability for the 5% of your riding. But everyone is different.

You're already carrying the extra weight of that Ecoflow device. Which I bet it 's bulkier, offers less power density by weight, and it's more messy to carry on. A range extender will be more compact and lighter for a similar capacity (Ah), you can just carry it in your backpack plugged to the bike port with a extender cord. No need to compromise bike's frame design. No car needed.

In the situations where I really must have 1200Wh without going back to my car. I'll use my spare bike which has a spare 630Wh detachable battery.

In my view, the best thing is to have the choice. Then you decide when to use it or not. Having to buy a whole new e-mtb as a spare, with another spare battery for those situations... not very practical compared with the example I suggested above.

I think in that scenario the EcoFlow stays in the car, and you charge between runs.

Ideal for train centre laps all day long, not ideal for 4+ hour epics or bike packing. I agree a range extender would be nice for those big days out on natural trails.

From my experience, you will probably be better with XL. I am 185cm and normally ride large in most brands. However Large on Amflow was far too cramped for me.

Looking for a new handlebar with more rise. I am 198cm and riding an XXL. Any advice - was looking at some carbon options from SQLab but open to any type ideas.

Stays in car.

I ride in the national park for a few hours. Take a break for 30-60mins. Ride some more. I just come back to the car for the break if I need more battery. I just use the firetrails when heading back for a charge as they are really quick. 40-50 mins normally tops the battery back up to 90% after a morning session.
