Pic of the Day

They have done a fantastic job on those trails
That middle double black is extra spicey but well ridable
They pics don’t do any justice to how steep and gnarley they are
Think I’m gonna go up for the pre launch

Need to have a ride out with you boys at some point in the future

This will be only up for a few hrs 😉

Sweet 👌

Beinn Dorain seen from south of Auch? Not been up that way for a while, used to paddle the Orchy with my mates from south of the hotel. Feck, that's 40+ year ago. Also climbed winter ice on Beinn Udlaidh walking in from the road down Glen Orchy.
That's the one did it many years ago . Friday i did Pap of Glencoe and the Westernmost Munro on Anoch Eagach was well done in. Day after did Orchy to Taynuilt on bike train to Tyndrum and WHW back to Orchy . Always fancied paddling Orchy our local was the Findhorn middle section occasionally the lower or upper .Pacraft now for me not so scary. Im an Auld mannie noo.

Another ride today :) 240ish miles in 2 weeks now :D

A blast from the back door this morning ( couldn’t commit to a longer outing with me mate @The Hodge ) and completed a sort of trilogy of rides in the past week or so in Northumberland. Firstly the natural trails in the Cheviot Hills, then onto the man made trails in Keilder Forest where the trail builders have been really busy and finally through the local community woodland on roots, adverse camber runs crisscrossing the plantation and then onto nearby bridleways to the west of Ashington. Three totally different rides but all great fun.
Todays ride was a true test of suspension setup hitting the roots as hard as I could dare and out on the bridkeways hitting the dried tractor tyre tracks as fast as I could. The bottom of the forks were blurred with fork smooth as silk, coupled with Peaty’s mushroom grips I felt almost nothing through the bars. Love my Zeb ultimates. This stretch of bridleway is normally boggy but horses hoof prints baked hard was again a test of set up. IMG_9748.jpeg
Also had a craic with members of the Northumberland model flying club. IMG_9747.jpegIMG_9744.jpeg
All in all a grand day out.

In case you have not met Gorse, it is extremely spiny, even the branches are spiny. The spines are like needles and they break off into your skin. But the flowers are a beautiful luminous yellow and have a strong, almost pleasant, odour.
Gorse in Australia is a noxious weed, when I was in the UK 2 years ago it seemed to almost be the national flower

When we were bairns it was a must at Easter break to put the Bankies on fire on the way home from rolling our eggs. Whins same as gorse and yes national plant in my area anyway. Boy could they burn 🔥, no fire engines back then they just were left to spread and burn.

Very little snow in Scotland this winter disaster for the skiing industry I heard. I was west last week nothing on hills I was up. Only one in Glencoe I could see with any.
We got snow on thursday but it melted away fast 👍

Having had last round early January and no commuting by bike to work I had to go out today even if there was rain and light thunder storm.

There was a little Buddah before someone took away but now there is something new. Old tree in the forest:

And then the best upgrade along the route: A icecream automat. Pretty remote, servings in glass jars, not cheap but sounds excellent for having a quick stop (now that I found they have lactose free) 😎

Ice cream automat close to trail is fantastic, I'm jealous.

Not right next to the trail but at the hub.... the new custodians of the bike shop at Kielder ( Team Cycles) have installed a fantastic coffee machine AND ..an ice cream fridge selling Mackies dairy ice cream tubs...yum..😋

Took the Mith to the beach earlier and everyone wanted to take pictures with it ..

OK .. not really .. still not riding fully, still being sensible and working on repairing everything and building strength, full ranges of motion .. it's quite nice not breaking things for a change ..

Back in the real world ...
