2019 Turbo Levo Owners Thread

My Dealer said they have stopped shipment (as mentioned) and some motors are noisy and some are not. Our dealer is going to have owners bring their new bikes back to check what they have. Then looking for a direction from Spec on a fix etc...

Just picked up my basic levo in Hypa yellow, rode 15 miles home, wouldn’t say the motor is noisy, however on paved sections lots of tyre noise.
Looking forward to a proper ride out.

As I was told, the color is Hyper Green, don't know why. Maybe neon yellow is to common this days..
Would appreciate, if you post some photos, so that I can see what I'm waiting for.
Hope that what RockinRick is saying, doesnt results in pulling back all the bikes from the market. Than we are set for dry winter and no LEVO-s.:cry:

Last week I went to take a look at the new Levo, I was pretty much waiting to see if there was indeed a new version coming out before purchasing my first e-bike a to avoid a case of buyer remorse, I was favoring the Pivot Shuttle or the Commencal Meta power as a lower cost alternative but today I succumbed and placed the order for a Levo expert! It will be a long month waiting for it to arrive...

Might give my dealer a ring tomorrow or wait for the first service as mine is less than stealthy.
On a side note I’ve been for a proper play tonight at my local trail centre(Sherwood Pines)which is not exactly hard core but not bad for an hours blast and my God the bike is quick,so quick in fact that I was overshooting lines I normally make
Great fun,loved it but need to change my riding style to suit.
 
For those in the South try Basing Cycles too. Great guys and their price was the best of all those I tried. I’m not affiliated in any way.
 
As an FYI there have been several 2019 Levos getting put through their paces in the UK (and probably elsewhere) over the summer by people lucky enough for Specialized to give them too to try out and get feed back off - as such these bikes have been out and abused by people outside of Specialized for a while.

One such lucky fellow hails from my neck of the woods, and has in fact been riding a disguised Carbon Levo round the Surrey Hills since July.

He has put a lot of miles on the bike, and is near enough pro level enduro rider. Going to ask him about the motor noise issue, i know that he has pretty much only ridden the levo as he loves it so much since he has had it, despite having a quiver of very special bikes.

They should have called the color "yellow highlighter" cause that's what it looks like in person. Very pleased with the bike so far (25 miles or so)

Does anyone think the new Levo would benefit a slightly wider front tyre, ie 2.8

My acoustic mtb is a Carbon Stumper Jumper with 29 x 2.3 wheel set, great bike but I really prefer how the 27.5 X 2.8 wheel package on my Kenevo feels so stable and planted. Looking forward to riding a 2019 Levo with the 29 x 2.6 wheel set to experiemce the difference.
 
Has anyone seen the S-works in person yet and can comment on the Chameleon color? I like both the Expert colors but would ideally want the S-works for the low weight. Is it a bit ... tacky? I've only seen such paint jobs on cars.

I haven't seen it myself, but these photos from my LBS - at the dealer launch i think.

That's the effect I'm worried about.

Have it resprayed? I believe Specialized have a number of approved spray shops where you can have your pride and joy resprayed without invalidating your warranty. Certainly within the UK at least.

I had invisiframe do a vinyl set in frosted orange for my 2016 Levo...

It looks completely different in the flesh, However, we all have different tastes and what may look great to me may look not so great to you. Best advice I can give is visit a bike shop that has one and decide for yourself.

However, I see you are in NZ so it could be a bit of a challenge for you to come over and see it here in the UK :unsure:

I think this is the simular color as on Venge Vias PRO Disk 2018. Green-Purple vs Blue-Purple

From far it's black, from left it's green, from right it's purple. :eek: Big sparkling pearls just pop in the sun.
This effect is called differently , Chameleon, hypershift pearls, etc, but if you ask me, this is one of the coolest color I've seen.
Complete S-works in this color would be just jaw dropping. Really sad, that Specialized not offer this kinda shift colors for more models.
 
If you look at the EMBN video there are lots of clear shots of the S Works, including it being ridden

I currently have a 2018 expert, so the new one is just what I have been waiting for.
I took a medium comp carbon out for a 30 mile test ride yesterday.
I was riding with a friend who was riding my 2018, (He owns a kenevo).
To start off in the woods on single track, the new one was noticeably lighter and more nimble, we were both impressed and were thinking this is my next bike. Contrary to the 29 wheels it steered quicker than the 2018 and was a better trail bike, in that environment.
But, and this is the big but, when we got on the steep looser stuff, it had no where near the stability or grip of the 2018, we both commented on this.
Where the 2018 would just take the chunk in its stride the 2019 did not and dare I say it, felt a bit nervous.
So now I feel deflated, and am thinking, maybe with the tyres set up tubless on the 2019 this would help and maybe the expert model with the pike fork would change this nevous feeling?
But in reality I think it's the narrower tyres and rims, and maybe it's just not for me?

A slightly different scenario but i just got the opportunity to ride a 2019 stumpjumper and compared to my 2017 stumpy the new one felt very twitchy the front end was very light (too light for me) and at slow speed it would wander a fair bit.
I compared the geometry to the new levo and its virtually identical my old stumpy is very much the same geometry as my 2018 levo. and it sounds like from your report you are feeling the same thing.
I should say im not a fan of this new style long front end trend for mtbs but i guess somebody with better skills than i have can make good use of it

You're talking about descending?
If so, a more nimble bike will be less stable, BUT it should allow you to rde the bike more dynamically, ie. pick and change lines quicker/more easily, hop/manual more easily rathert than plow through everything in your path.
Tyres make a huge dfference depending on how you ride, if you're the type of rider who picks up the bike a lot (pump, pre-jump, jump, manual, hop etc.) is adventurous with line choice, changes lines and smashes corners a narrower well supported tyre with a good edge will work far better than a bigger rounder profile tyre with less suport (lower pressure).
Bike weight does matter, but also what you get from the weight depends on how you ride the bike.
eg. Surprisingly my Ebike is far more stable than my DH bike. The DH bike is 13lb lighter. But despite being LESS stable the DH bike is also faster on a proper DH track. But that's because I'm NOT a plow through everything type of rider.
The fastest descenders in the world ride bikes 12-15lb lighter than Ebikes and use 2.5" tyres.

@ccrdave if you think it's the longer front end you're finding difficult to control, simply size down.
I'm 5'11 and ride a small Ebike because I am not a fan of long reach bikes. (it's still not short) To make the most of them longer reach bikes do force you to have to ride a different way to shorter reach bikes. I'm a rear wheel biased rider (like to manual/pop all my bikes like a DJ bike) and longer reaches are simply more fatiguing if ridden like this.
 
@Gary funnily enough i am doing just that, im just starting to build a hardtail and for the first time i have bought a medium frame instead of a large

I’m after a comparison chart that allows me to compare the different specs without jumping between tabs all the time. Basically, I’m just being a bit lazy.

Am I wanting to buy one? Not right now, maybe not later either. I’m in research mode at the moment and haven’t made a decision either way. I am going to try and get a weekend in one though.
