Clonking in the rear suspension led me to this sheared shock bolt. One thing you find out about owning a vaguely boutiquey bike is you can't just pop down to Halfords for spares.

You will probably find that bolt in the correct head size, shaft diameter but maybe not the correct length from many places. The bolts are easy to shorten. don't fuss about the Allen actual size or even whether it is Torx; they will all work.

I hope that you found that sheared bolt before it did too much damage to your frame. I also was lucky when it happened to me. When you fit the new one, let Loctite be your friend.
 
Last week remembered had these gloves, so dug them out of my skiing gear. Plenty dexterous enough to operate all levers and controls. Nice warm hands mmm ...

Also did a rear in last year. Were cracks radiating from spokes but along rather than across the rim.
 
Re fitted my Unite Stem and sorted out the headset play

I was riding my local trail and discovered that they had added a new drop. No signposts, nothing. I came round the corner and there it was! It wasn't a big drop by any means, less than a foot high. But I hit it at speed and without any warning. I make zero claims to be any sort of a jumper and I normally need a second or two's warning. I don't know how I did it, but I bottomed out the suspension on the fork, even felt the clunk. That was unexpected, so I checked the air pressure when I got home.

Hmm, 60psi when I was expecting 70psi. Not really enough to cause a bottom out. I was going a bit fast at that point though, so maybe... Although I hadn't bottomed the shock, while I had the shock pump out, I checked the pressure; oh dear! I was expecting 230psi, it was at 180psi. That was reset to 230psi. .

I now know why my suspension has been a bit comfy of late. Last checked 10 months ago!!! Must do better! :giggle:

Ohlins TTX22m.2 coil shocks with the correct springs on both our bikes eliminates rear bottom outs. But good point, do need to check Mrs Pike Ultimate and my Lyrik Ultimate pressures (y)

*see the bttery problem with Canyon / trendpower and a few owners told not to charge or ride their bikes, I had just bought mine ~2 months before this happened and ~4 months later its not resolved and I'm not happy to own an expensive ornament🤷‍♂️

I went through a puddle on a farm track ( the normal British shitty twin track in winter) expected the usual 1/2" to 2" of water....and dropped into a 14" deep nightmare....upto the bloody front axle spoke flange and another 6ft to wade through with no way out. Lovely.
 
Which rim/wheel and how and especially does your spoke had good tension before?

It was an H1700 now replaced with a HX531. Spokes had even tension, but the rear tyre had a little less than the 32 psi I use to ride with.
 
Back on the normy to replace the split rear brake hose. Helpfully, Lapierre designed the frame with an opening behind the bash guard which makes cable routing much less of a faff than it could be. Irritatingly, the olive doesn't fit the shroud, so it's not quite done.

I found that the olives are brand specific. The shape and diameter changes slightly between brands. I found this out the hard way.

The banjo fitting is aftermaket anodised red to match the caliper. It' just that I can't remember where I bought it.🤦‍♂️
 
converted a new pair of wheels / tyres to tubeless, tightened the loose disc centrelock 'nut' on the front wheel (thank you tredz :rolleyes: ), changed rear spring to Sprindex & removed volume-spacer from forks / set damper to suggestedcompression & reboundcursed whoever was (Ir)responsanble for the hose /cable birdsnest around the headset & bars:sick:

waiting for my mrs to finish the ridewrap then I'll refit the coil damper.....

hopefully ride tomorrow (well, today - friday🤞)

Thanks to Peaty’s and EMBN providing that £200 prizepack which included both the cleaning products and the tubeless kit, I was able to get this done in a pretty short timeframe and with almost no swearing. Almost.

I’m now running 23psi in the front and 25psi in the rear.
Was sitting at or about 30psi with tubes.

First time with almost no swearing, must be something wrong with you! 😉

Also run 23psi front and 25psi rear (Maxxis High Roller 3 Maxxgrip DH rear, DD front).

I’ve watched so many videos and seen so much vitriol spouted on the horrors of doing a tubeless conversion that I was full prepared for an absolute disaster that I would have to abandon halfway through. And it just all went really smoothly.

I’m yet to actually ride in anger since doing it, so my wheels may well fall off and the disaster could just be waiting to happen.
