Hit up Banana industries for some bits. The chain especially is decent value, I'll let you know if the tyre is square.

And some service stuff for the smooth.

The Maxima is a decent price too, have to love the MX stores.

I don't have any new parts for my bike this week - I bought a new bike instead😎😬

It comes standard with carbon wheels instead of the DT Swiss H1900 shown here, and I'm having the dealer install Sram Maven Silver brakes instead of those awful Magura Gustav brakes.

It's expected to arrive sometime in June with the first shipments—I'm incredibly excited about it🤗🥰

Very cool! Interesting that they’re using the 700Wh battery.

What do I hate about the Magura Gustav brakes?

Well, pretty much everything: 😎😬

starting with that weird Carbotecture material, which tends to shatter in crashes and feels awful. Then: they look like crap, and when they’re not constantly squeaking, the brake pads rattle inside the calipers.

When they do work, they work well. But they’re a nightmare to bleed.

Other than that, they’re actually fine. 😈😂

Fair enough, I agree that the levers are not great, out of all the brakes i've used over the years other than some old Hope mono minis Magura are the only ones that i've not had any problems with

Great kit and that's from NE of Scotland pedal strike champion.

I may be challenging you for that title!

The same 4 pins are missing on the other side too, and the replacement pedals aren't fairing much better either o_O

The joys of being able to pedal up rock gardens. I really need shorter cranks :D

Needed more of my chain lube of choice, Lubenschliden Darkmatter Formula 2.5. Stuff really is the best I’ve found for shedding dust and dirt. Love the process too, where you don’t strip the chain between applications. Can’t recommend this stuff enough.

I’m about out of my current lube (don’t remember what brand) so I’ll be purchasing lube soon. Did you start out with their “starter kit” or just wipe down the chain and then apply this lube? My current chain already has 650 miles so I’m not sure if I should get their starter kit or just clean the existing and apply. I’m currently using a waxed-based dry lube but only get 30-40 miles before I start hearing chain noise. It’s my first emtb so I’m not sure if lubing before every ride is just standard practice.

I got the starter kit and the dark stuff and love it like no other lube for certain. But now have a full bottle of starter lube that I'm not sure it needed to be honest with you.. just did what the video said!

And I did snap a chain link sadly despite claims of seeming invincibility if I recalled that video correctly.. one could have hoped though!!

I will be using the starter lube once the dark stuff is gone to see how it works.

It’s been a while. I think I just wiped the chain down with alcohol on a rag and started applying Darkmatter. I do think the chain was better after the second application.
Since my chain is now fully impregnated with Darkmatter, I’ll use their Smoothlube 53/11 as a topper/maintenance lube once or twice between Darkmatter applications. No real need to do that though. Just an option the owner told me about.

Bout to switch lubes for the season. I’ll give this stuff you guys are talking about a shot.
Lookin at the kit
Cards in another room. I’ll get it tomorrow 🤣

Good points, the chain seems to get seasoned and better over time as the stuff seeps into its pores!

It definitely gets things a bit smoother and quieter drivetrain wise. Also saves the step and cost of degreasing the chain every wash day. Yeah, I am thinking I am a one jug dark stuff guy going forward.

Get your "aMTBer Lubenschliden Darkmatter Formula 2.5" today!

The naming could perhaps use some help. I like the sound of "Dark Stuff" or maybe "Grey Matter".. 🤷‍♂️

Yeah even the name of the company is a little short of great. That’s about the only criticism I have of them though. The owner literally called me on a Saturday and provided a whole personal consultation! 😆

In his YouTube videos he mentions how his product is unique because you just keep applying it and it doesn’t build up. It pushes out the debris. No need to strip the chain is huge for this apartment dweller.

I usually just rinse the chain lightly as I rinse off the rest of the bike with water in a pump sprayer. Dust comes right off because the dust isn’t sticking to the chain any more than the dust is sticking to the frame. Then I’ll apply either Smoothe Lube or Darkmatter.

Maybe monthly (~17 rides) I’ll wipe the chain with an alcohol rag just to give it a little clean; then reapply Darkmatter. Chain never has to come apart.

Another great thing is the stuff isn’t expensive.
