If you choose Storia V4, you can only run it on L size (205x57.5) or XL size (205x60 max.). On S and M sizes it will not fit!
Fair enough then 😅

The E Storia was released when Ebikes were closer easily in the 25-30kg range. These newer, lighter offerings just don't warrant an "Ebike" specific shock. Especially when the V4 is the latest and best version with a stronger shaft etc anyway.

who says they can’t be shimmed lighter? first and foremost it’s just a chassis

That's not entirely accurate regarding the bike's weight. The E-Storia has a more robust shaft, as problems could arise there. This is especially true for the Levo, Kenevo, etc. Furthermore, the E-Storia offers a wider adjustment range for rebound and compression, and the HBO is adjustable.

Sure, it's heavier, but that's the only downside...and we're talking about a few grams here.

I'm sticking with the Öhlins coil because I already have one. Otherwise, it would be right there on my list. With proper shimming, it performs like a dream. I always preferred my Storia with lighter shimming then stock / shimmend for bike and weight.

I'm talking about bike weight, not shock weight.

The whole "Ebike Specific" thing has always been in contention for me. What's the difference really between an analogue bike that's 15kg with a 80kg rider vs an ebike that's 25kgs and a 70kg rider?

The V4 uses the same 14mm steel shaft with DLC that the E-Storia does without the coating, unless I'm wrong. HBO is also tuneable in the V4 externally.

Dunno, maybe it's just me but I wouldn't be dropping 1k plus on a damper that's coming up 5 years old alresdy vs a V4.

Yes, I understand that, and I only said that the only disadvantage of the e-Storia is its weight. The e-Storia with a steel yoke was introduced because the Storia V3 didn't have one, and apparently, due to lateral forces (on bikes with a yoke), some people experienced problems – not because of the bikes' weight! Furthermore, as I mentioned, the e-Storia has a wider adjustment range. I personally had no problems with the V3 on levo.

Everything that's good about the e-Storia has now been incorporated into the Storia V4.

afaik the e-storia has lots of features the storia only got with the v4 update, else it's 60g more. are you actually arguing here about 60g differences?

I've not once mentioned the weight of any of them 😂

V4 for me, I spoke to EXT and a suspension place and both said go V4 over the E Storia for the above mentioned reasons really.

They will say that though. They need to push their newest product sales. Why would they tell you to get an older model when they have a newer more expensive version?

Spoke to mojo with the arma, vecta, storia and e-storia in mind. Was leaning towards the arma as i have no need for the lok. They suggested the e-storia as the most suitable after running through it with me. I can't recall all the exact reasons, but they made sense at the time
Its only £60 more. Their website is a bit misleading as its priced with 2 springs. Knock £100 off for 1 spring.
Later found out only the e-storia would fit anyway.
The deal that ace cycles in Guildford is doing with an e-storia for £700 is superb.

That's a good price and fair as well with the two springs, means you'll be able to get two and get on the money for sag, Was quoted around the same for a V4 as well, discounts to be had on them for sure.

Got the dimensions and logo files from velduro and used a cricut machine to cut them out with a friend :)
Hi, I just registered so I could reply to your post! Any chance of sharing the files? My frame is due by the end of the month and I would rather get new decals made locally so I get them in time! Im in Nelson btw, where are you?
Cheers :)

Correct but doesn't get me close to an answer. Let me rephrase: what exactly did you order for $20 and how was it installed?
Hey man no need to be snarky! Community forum we are all trying to help one another.

I purchased a bash guard from Velduro for $17. It is separate from the skid plate and bolts to the drive side of the plate. Connected with two bolts. Hope that gets you close to your answer.
Edit- the piece is molded from a hard rubber.

Apologies dude, and yes this is exactly what I wanted to know (i.e. that it's the OEM guard). What threw me off is that you had to pay for it. I was told the guards came with the bike from my Velduro contact and I recall during a prior unboxing video that the guard came in the box. I'm just glad Velduro has a solution to the M1 that got worked out early on.

Would be awesome if Velduro made one that protects the whole underbelly of the motor, I think as it stands it's simply plastic? I'm sure a robust plastic but nevertheless, rock vs scissors...

One question I could not answer from the description of the frameset: do I need to buy this 8x30 mm axle for the lower shock mount myself, or is it included in the framekit?

That is not the axle, it's the hardware required for the shock. The axle will be included but different shock eyelets have different diameters so they can't include with the frame as they don't know what shock you are fitting.

Hope this helps

Yes, thats what I mean, the thing to mount the shock to the frame. Its a rod that's going through the bushing of the shock. Sounds like an axle to me? 🤷‍♂️ And isn't this a fairly standard diameter? I think the shock eyelets are normally 15 mm, then minus the bushings will give you 12,7 mm or something.

You mean the actual shock bolt? Surely that is included given that it's specific to the frame....
