Looks fantastic! Did you mount it to a rail? If so, did you cut the cable or did you get an extra extension from Magicshine?

Hi Rob,

I was kicking myself for getting the lesser power/more expensive Exposure light!

I’ve looked into the detail.
Exposure Flex quoted max lumens = 3300
Magicshine quoted max lumens = 4500

However these light outputs aren’t available to all Ebikes.
We are both using them on Rails/Bosch Gen4 bikes. Which has a 12v lighting circuit and a max current of 1.5amps / 18watts.

At this output the Magicshine quotes 1800lumens and Exposure 2000lumens

That’s good to know! So only 4500 lumens when connected to more power / external battery pack ?
 

These guys have a sale on every Exposure light atm. I’ve an Orbea Rise and was looking at the e flex 3300 lumen light, does anyone know how to check if it can get full power?

I’m also considering the mk11 for the 4500 lumens or the magicshine 8000 (maybe 6500)

Guessing your Rise is EP8 Shimano? So quoted output is 2500lumens
 
What additional cable would I need to connect it to a shimano motor?

And can you connect it to an external battery to get more light output if preferred?
 
I installed head and tail lights, Trek enabled the lighting, setting wattage to12w. Much to my surprise the battery cut out at 8%, leaving me with a last mile uphill w/o power. On a 625Wh battery 8% comes out to 50Wh, or roughly four hours of lights-only. I’m way more likely to need a few percent for the last mile than I am for lights-only, so I’m going to ask Trek to set it to 6w. Point being that you will want to balance
high-wattage lighting requirements against range reduction.

Love my lupine SL X + C14 setup, great light coverage, and it automatically turns on and changes brightness based on darkness (cover the sensors on the back with your hand to test when it is light out ;) )


One note: a LBS will have to activate the lights in Kiox / Purion; one can connect it yourself (need to get the cranks off etc though); cable is already in place. Watch the C14 diameter, as it goes instead of the normal ring.

Do you have any pictures of the Lupine SL X + C14 setup/wiring, particularly the rear light? Thanks......

Oh, and the Lupine SL X clamp is 35 mm for my Trek Rail 9.9, right? Anyone know what size the collar is for the C14 and if the wire is included? Thanks.

So based on the maximum Lumens being limited by the max current of 1.5amps / 18watts, it's worth getting the Magicshine smaller brother as the output is the same, 1800 lumens maximum.
