Yep I’ve just bought a full xx transmission to replace the xx1 that came on my new trek fuel ex-e. Sold the as new xx1 kit on eBay and got half the money back for the xx stuff.

Canyon did say the Transmission is not compatible with the Canyon Torque ON CF (2023/4) I tested it with the XX AXS Transmission from my Canyon Spectral ON CFR LTD. Now both bikes have there own Transmission mounted ;-)

I can say the SRAM Transmission works great on Canyon Torque ON (2023/4). Using an Shimano 4 arm spider 53mm chain line. Lessons learned do not believe what Canyon is saying :D Did 1000km on it without any issues.

On the Spectral ON I use an SRAM Chainring for Shimano. 55mm chain line. Over 3500km without any issues.

For info regarding chain wear from SRAM

At the moment, we don't have a chain wear tool for FlatTop T-Type chains. When it comes to Transmission, you would replace the chain based on the symptoms that you are experiencing. We recommend replacing components based on the symptoms rather than distance ridden because of the variety in riding conditions, time spent on the bike, maintenance, etc. Some of the symptoms you would want to look for are:

  • Visible wear on the chainring.
  • Decreased chain retention, which would present as the chain dropping.
  • The chain not fitting properly in the grooves of the teeth of the chainring.
  • Chain skips under load.
  • Drivetrain is not running smoothly.
  • It is not possible to adjust the derailleur to eliminate rough shifts or skipping.

Chain wear intervals for Transmission will be different than Eagle Drivetrain. It's generally expected that you would replace the chain a few times over the lifespan of a cassette with an Eagle Drivetrain, but with Transmission we expect that the chain and cassette will wear together and be replaced at the same time. This is due to the increased durability of T-Type chains.

Still maybe early yet...but how's the T-Type drivetrain shifting after 3 (for the GX)-6 months on the full-powered rigs...especially in turbo/boost power modes. Good as advertised?

I'm getting ready to upgrade in the next couple of months...saving toward my budget.💸

How much improved over old AXS? 2x,3x,....10x better?😋

Worth it given the premium higher pricepoint (even for GX)?💵

Mystery solved! T-Type GX Chain came with 120 links total, instead of 126 as advertised. I never expected a new box of chain would be missing links. Lets see what World Wide Cyclery will do about it.

So lessons learned: when adjusting chain length to setup for SRAM recommended T-type transmission chain link count for your bike, count from link 1 up to total # of links needed. DO NOT count down from 126 and deduct/remove the number of links to get to desired count of links as the new chain may be missing links.

I just ordered my Lumen e-900 that comes with a GX hanger system, and I would like to upgrade it to a XX transmission T system. Help me!
I have been told that no aftermarket Sram cranks fit the TQ motor and that I should stick with the original FSA ones (and that only the 36 chainring would fit). Is this true? if so why? As far as the cranks go, this seem to be in contradiction with what I found on the SRAM site. See article Will SRAM Eagle Transmission fit my e-bike? - SRAM
Compatible chainrings however, should be commercialised next month. See article link above

Yes you can use the xx cranks, I am on my trek fuel exe, just make sure you get the ones marked e-mtb which are isis fitment. There isn’t slot of benefit over the cranks you have but they look a lot better.

For everyone wondering if the T-type works with the old eagle the answer is yes. I wanted to mount the XX derailleur but I had just changed the cassette and chain and I didn't want to replace them and so I only replaced the gear mech. I have followed the same procedure for the standard setup but I’ve used a 10-50 cassette so I’ve had to shorten the suggest chain length by two links. Also, I’ve used a 2,5mm spacer between the cassette and the freehub body cause I was out of the range of microadjust.

If it works great go for it. Those X01 Cassettes can be found very cheaply every now and then.

I have a Turbo Levo Expert Gen 3 and contacted SRAM regarding the GX T-Type. My question was:

I've spent a few hours trying to get the answer to this, but it's far from clear. I have a Specialized Turbo Levo Expert S4 (96421-3304) which is the 2022 model. I want to buy the GX Eagle T-Type Transmission as an upgrade. The issue is the chainring, and attached is what I currently have.

I would like to keep a 34t chainring, so can you please tell me the SKU/part numbers of ALL the SRAM components I would need to buy?

Also, can I just keep my existing chainring? However, if I need to upgrade, what SRAM part number chainring (34t) do I need?

I'd be happy to help you out with this. I'm sorry you've had difficulty finding a concise answer to this. Thank you for providing me with the details about your bike and an image of your current chainring.

For owners of the Turbo Levo, we have been suggesting our T-Type 104BCD Groupsets (GX - 00.7918.282.002). These include a 104BCD T-Type chainring to mount on your existing spider. This group does not include cranks, however. The chainring that comes with the 104BCD groupset is a 34T, though we are now offering a 32T 104BCD as well (11.6218.066.000). The 2022 Levo is compatible with chainrings from 32-34T. Your existing Eagle X-Sync II chainring cannot be used due to differences in tooth profile and chain design between Eagle Drivetrain and Eagle Transmission.

The reason we advise this specific groupset variant for the Turbo Levo is that our direct-mount T-Type chainrings are incompatible with the Levo. The Brose motor in the Levo is offset towards the drive side of the bike, pushing the chainline too far outboard when our Brose direct-mount chainring is used. That said, you can still install SRAM's T-Type e-mtb cranks, they can be purchased separately, though they are not necessary.

Hey what year is your Spectral On? I have a 2020, and never looked into SRAM transmission bc I simply thought it was not compatible. I finally looked at and paid attention to the derailleur hanger interface on the bike, and I realized it said UDH! So the only question now is whether the stock chainring on the Shimano E8000 motor would work with the T Type chain. Which I’m sure it wouldn’t be optimized for anything but a shimano chain, but who knows.

I have the Spectral ON CFR LTD (2023)

It is not the motor. You need to exchange the chainring. For a T Type one.

SRAM has one with a Shimano Steps mount. Or you can use a 4-arm spider. Shimano has a 4-arm spider with 53mm chainline. You can use the SRAM T Type chainring.

On the Spectral I use the SRAM T Type chainring with steps mount.

On the Torque I use the Shimano 4-arm spider with SRAM Type.

Both option will do the job.

Thanks. I started looking at different avail dm rings. There’s wolf tooth. Seems like SRAM only offers the XX version. I might go for that.
 
An easy option is the Shimano 4-arm spider for Steps sm-cre80 (53mm cl)

What chain size did you use for it? I installed it this morning using the info from the AXS application for 34T chainring. The app gave me A-gap setup, 118 link chain and 21T chainring as setup ring. Everything shifts well, but it contacts the frame on the smallest cog. Wondering if you're having the same issue or if you set yours up differently?

EDIT: Just realized my error...when I was taking up the chain slack, I didn't have the cage lock set to position 1. Working perfectly now :)

What year Spectral On do you have? On my 2020, I set it up correctly and the smallest cog is too close to the drop out. We needed to add a 1mm spacer just to make it work. It works fine now, but it was annoying.

I have a Torque On.

Initially when I installed it, in smallest cog, the chain would rub on the frame. Then I looked back at install steps. The step just before I tensioned the chain and tightened the mount bolt, I forgot to set it into the 1st stop on the cage lock. Once I loosened it and re-did that step, it was perfect.

Hmm…now you got me thinking I didn’t set it up right after all. As those were the same symptoms I experienced.

I’d do this:
Shift to cog 6 (21t)
Loosen axle 1 turn
Loosen derailleur bolt 1 turn
Put cage lock at first position. The one that doesn’t make derailleur look straight.
Pull back on lower jockey to take slack out of chain.
Hold it back while tightening the derailleur bolt
Tighten axle
 
When I purchased the Fuel EXE it came with a T-type derailer. Before I went for the first ride I installed ride-wrap. This meant disassembling some parts.

When I reassembled everything I noticed something was wrong with the derailer setup. The chain was also rubbing the triangle in 12th gear. Anyways, back to the LBS.

A sales rep noticed that the axel bushing was installed backwards. That may have happened at the factory assembly (or was it me?). We easily reversed the bushing, with a thin washer attached, and reassemble. Problem solved.

We all (me and the 4 mechanics) went through the setup process for proper alignment using the app to fine tune.

I can’t say when this happened but I’m glad I fixed this before the first ride.
 
Considering SRAM GX eagle transmission on a Levo but does anyone know if it's possible to to buy the parts separately since I would prefer a different (coloured) crankarm and chainring?

Yes I bought it separately, although from the same shop. RD, cassette, chain. The shifter I actually sourced from another shop. For a Levo SL2. Didn't need the chain ring or crank.
 
Can anyone tell me if t-type will work with my new heckler sl s build without having to purchase a new cassette? The cassette on it is SRAM xg 1275 10-50t

Would like to upgrade but the full upgrade kit price is grim
