Levo Gen 4 Specialized Gen 4 Levo - Official Thread

That’s the problem right there, I think they got lazy and put out a product that is overpriced and underwhelming. People giving them a pass because they have been doing it longer, what a shame.
You would like to think that the have Customer Focus Groups, in which under NDA known customers are shown future products on which to give opinions.

This could have been avoided, they would have been better waiting another 6 months to year etc and bring out the Gen 3 with the Gen 4 motor as a stop gap now, and in 6 months time etc a frame design that looks more cohesive.

Totally get the critique but from my perspective, there are a few distinctions and USPs in the Gen 4 that are far ahead of other brands right now. It's great to see some of the impressive things other brands like Amflow and those that are using the new Bosch system are doing, and if you're looking at pure power-to-weight ratios or boutique builds, there are definitely options that compete.

But for me, the Gen 4 Levo is a clear standout and by far the best option for me, and here’s why:
  • Class 1 to Class 3 toggle is a massive game-changer. I ride 70–80% on paved coastal roads from my garage because of (lack of) proximity to trails. Many others ride from their home to trails, so being able to hit 28mph instead of being capped at 20mph is huge. Class 3 unlocks way more utility for anyone riding to the trailhead or doing mixed-use routes. My current bike is a Bulls Iconic TR 1 speed which when I bought, at the time was the only Class 3 bike with full suspension that I could take on trails. The Gen 4 is a massive upgrade to what I have and gives me complete versatility.
  • 840Wh battery + optional range extender gives it true “big day” capability—rides like Palm Canyon Epic, Catalina Island, and Tahoebecome way more feasible without stressing over range.
    • Add in fast charging, and it’s perfect for multi-day rides or a full recharge during lunch.
  • The new motor in Gen 4 is no slouch either—101Nm and 666W peak power, very smooth and quiet. It's not just about torque but also delivery. I've never owned a Specialized but have long admired their brand and the team of designers and engineer for their innovation and being on the cutting edge for years.
  • Mission Control appis still the best in the game in my opinion:
    • Fully tune assist levels, peak power, support, and responsiveness.
    • Use Smart Control to automatically modulate power based on your route and desired range.
    • Track rides, diagnostics, and even system tuning in a few taps.
These are just a few of the USPs that stand out to me. For my use case of coastal road riding, plans for long adventure days, and versatility—there’s not a better all-around option right now. I’m holding out for the Alloy models in June, since even the base version of Gen 4 Levo is more than enough bike for what I need and I'm not doing any riding between now and when I hike Half Dome in a few months as that's where my training/outdoor time is allocated.
Point 1
only applies in the USA, and even then not all states I believe. It certainly doesn't have any relevance in Europe/UK and possibly many other parts of the world.
Point 2
Great feature but is available on many other bikes/brands so not a USP. The fast charger is great but would you need both?
Point 3
Motor is a much valued improvement but just a little behind on power of some others available in the market place
Point 4
Yes, agreed but the DJI version operates in a very similar manor with like for like results.......so again, doesn't separate a Gen 4 in the way we have been used to on the previous generations.

The GEN4 was designed 3-4 years ago lets be real........

reliability for a motor > than any amount of power. Not saying this motor is more or less reliable, but anything over 500watts is more than enough power. I also remember back in the analog MTB days the saying "if it feels to hard just get a bigger motor". In other words... train and get stronger. If you need a 1000watts of power, then your not actually riding a bike anymore.

Yeah.....I was just highlighting that its not a USP if others have more power and/or better control.

Now that’s what I’m talking about
Nice looking bike, interested in hearing more about the gearing / chain config. Also, is it just me trying to understand the fast charge time for DJI motor, why 0-75% when the industry standard for charging is always measured 0-80%? just found this odd, as at 80% is when the charge really slows for balancing.

It's fun entertainment to hear all the arguments about which one is "best", but very few mention how they use their bike, because it seems to surprise some that most people use their bikes completely differently. Personal use is one factor, budget another, experience with the brand another, proximity to the store another, so I don't think I'm wrong in claiming that no bike is the best or the worst but all are good.

Its nice but no side loading battery, frame storage or wired remote is a deal breaker.....

No Lardo or because it a spanish bike should I say El Cordo?

Unno Mith need to know

  • Carbon e-bike with 160mm travel, 170mm fork, and MX wheels
  • DJI Avinox motor pumps out 850W and 105Nm torque with Boost mode giving 1,000w and 120Nm in limited bursts
  • 800Wh internal battery
  • Claimed weight of 21.2kg with DH casing tyres
  • Three frame sizes
  • Two spec options: Pro (£9,995) and Race (£8,095)
Source: DJI's motor comes to Unno's boutique new Mith e-bike, and with 160mm travel, it could be the sweetest Avinox-powered option right now - MBR

Amen, and why I say its such an amazing time to ride... so many choices. Also you forgot "HOW IT LOOKS"

From those that have been on both the Gen 4 and the Amflow, the DJI has the best motor not just power and weight but pick up, response etc, same for its Batt. But the Gen 4 has the better ride quality and damping as you would expect TBH, taking into account the amount of time they have been doing this for.
In my experience, going downhill heavy emtbs are a pain in blocked, tech, tight and slow terrain, at least that's the case with my Reign although once I get the 26kg beast up to speed(open terrain, good flow) it's like another bike has that Jekyll & Hyde syndrome I guess, Brian's review pretty much summs up my own feelings. I would say the Levo is pretty close to that also, maybe a bit better in slow sections as it has a shorter battery.

You got a point but it's far down on the priority list. Just use the dating list and you're good if you aren't to drunk.

Sorry for asking again by anyone knows the procedure code for class 3 activation. I know it’s for us but just want to check something

I was replying from my personal perspective and not projecting onto others what their decision making factors should or should not be. So interesting how some people come from a perspective that what their criteria is should apply to everyone (not suggestion you're doing this).

There are plenty of options out there. The Gen 4 is by far my #1 preference for the reasons I stated. If others feel different and are happy with their decisions, that's awesome.

Back to my points I shared, Point 1 specifically applies to me for the reasons stated. For clarification, this feature is 100% available in every bike sold in the U.S. That by itself is more than enough to make this an easy decision. It's a game changer that no other bike in the industry currently has. Specialized has been on the leading edge of innovation for years and introducing the Class 1 and Class 3 toggle ability is the latest example. I'm sure other brands will eventually follow their lead but no doubt, Specialized just changed the game with this feature!

The other points that I mentioned as USPs were in response to the comment made claiming the Gen4 is at least a year behind. Other than Canyon's 900wh battery that got recalled and forced people to not ride their bikes because of a fire hazard, the larger battery size (including range extender) is something still very few bikes released in 2025 have (not a year or more behind). Some bikes like DJI may have similar tech features which is great but again, that's only for this model year.

The points I shared as my perception of their USPs are especially when considering each of them combined as a complete package, which no other bike on the market currently has. This makes it a clear choice for me.

Mine was unlocked at the dealer but I had to register as owner with the specialized app (which included stating the dealer I bought it at) before they could unlock it. Then it took about 10 minutes of the bike being hooked up to a computer and the internet.

Now I have to activate in the menu every time I turn the bike on. It's normally in class I.

It was a long wait for the Gen4, I made my Gen3 the best bike I've ever ridden, absolutely love that bike, but he Gen4 feels a bit underwhelming, and after seeing the Mith and Forbidden release today I'm definitely going to wait and see before I fomo on the Gen4. I have no issues with DJi, all their products I own are top tier, looking forward to some real world reviews. What a great time to be in the market for a new eeeb

I am glad, I bought my new Gen3 levo comp bike a couple of weeks ago on sale. I save like $2500 off retail which is what they want for it now.

And I’m trying to find this combination for activation can you please share it?

You would have to get that from a dealer to initially activate it as an option on the bike.

How I access now that it is activated on the bike is press the bottom button and the center lever up in the bar control at the same time and bike speed selection is an option on that menu shown in the display.
