Levo Gen 4 Specialized Gen 4 Levo - Official Thread

Are you running a progressive spring on the shock? The new levo suspension has a progressive rate of 12%. It should suck for coil shocks. That’s why the stock shock is so progressive, to prevent huge bottom outs.
It's the stock Genie shock, I have the EXT Fork. Shock is great, could be poppier but I didn't do anything to it yet than finding the right sag and a bit of dialing. The kenevo had before bottomed out loads and I had a lot of punctures with it, but so far the L4 with the genie works 👌

I’ve an early G4 Pro build… replaced my Gen3 (Pro Spec)

I’ve done about 500 miles on it pretty much just on rocks..

It’s had the new spring battery nest and that’s it, no rattle or other noises.

It’s faster on descents, more composed, faster going up (not that I care in the slightest about that) and whilst having more assist than my G3 it goes further and climbs more on a full battery.

Awesome thing. What more could anyone want!?

...more pleasing to the eye. Not so clumsy. :ROFLMAO:

Looks ok to me 👌🏻

I tried one and couldn't get it to stop rubbing the chain. User error I know. Im usually pretty good at installing things, but I just couldn't find the right position. Does yours rub at all?
No rubbing. The installation requires careful trimming and positioning but it didn't take long. Installed them the first time I serviced the chain properly.

So i hear the “ Donkey” might just be getting the 130nm version of the rocket motor and batt next year.

I just noticed after I connected the frontlight with the Y-splitter to the battery the light starts to flash when the alarm is triggered.
That's a cool feature I didn't know of.

always shot a distance and the non battery side

:) understandable ,Was in Certini Bristol , had a look at a Gen 4 myself , it's not bad, but its' not a looker for sure , certainly not bat side and that faaaaaaaaat downtube, the Gen 3 looks better in my opinion , so could I have the Gen 4 motor in a Gen 3 , please Mr Spec :)

My Gen 4 levo has developed a motor noise or rattle. It is noticible when I roll the bike backwards, as many have experienced but now I get the noise riding forward, it is intermittent in nature.
Is this a known factory warantee issue that my Dealer can ask Specialized to replace at no cost (in your experience)?
Good luck with that . I know to a few that have been told some noise is acceptable on the “ Donkey” bike

I agree its looks rubbish. Lets hope they dont waste the “ Rocket” Motor on that frame.

hey guys do you know what volume spacer is installed standard on the s-works factory Genie shock? 0.2 or 0.4?
Same questions for the performance Genie Shock (Compa carbon)?
Also does the bushings at each ends of my performance will fit the factory. I have an opportunity to get a factory one but it comes with zero bushings. Thanks a lot for your help

Just open it and see.

Mine had the smaller one, which I swapped.

Thank you but I was trying to avoid it if it is not necessary
it's funny cause when you scan the QR code on the shock weather if it is my performance genie or that factory one they say on fox website that they should both have the 0.4 spacer and I know my performance defintely had the 0.2 one not the 0.4 which I prefer as well

Thanks for the info I guess I need to open the factory shock 😱. I'll be fine

From minute 28:40 onwards, while descending, you can clearly hear a metallic noise. Where is it coming from? It's the same noise my Expert makes, and I find it quite annoying.

They all have the .2 bottom out spacer fitted, I removed mine and it made next to no difference I’m still about 6 mm of bottoming the shock out.

Shocks are invariably tuned by the bike brand to suit their kinematics

The Levo 4 suspension is not progressive, something like 12%. That’s why the stock ramps up so much. Mount a coil and it will blow through the travel. Unless you change the link, just keep the stock shock.

I believe most of the time it's the opposite; where bike brands tune their kinematics to work well with standard, off the shelf shock behavior. Only the largest brands would have the clout (purchase volume) to warrant a third party shock manufacturer building a specific SKU to suit their design; and only low-volume boutique brands would have the bandwidth to manually alter the standard shock tuning. Further, I contend that when either of those custom approaches are employed, it would be/is touted in their marketing. An example of such is Specialized's Genie shock.

Dropping the air pressure results in too much sag and it sits too far into the travel. Im going to try adding some extra bands to the main air chamber to add mid stroke support and then i may be able to reduce air pressure.

40 miles on it
10 HARD
I love this thing. It’s my lift replacement device
170mm F/R
CC long travel link EXT-E Storia , and yes the Podium. Predictable in the air. Effortless in rough.
Waiting on my graphics…..

Good luck with the podium, my lbs has sold 3 and all of went back to fox puking oil. Seems fox decided fox 36 dust seals are oil seals….. they are not. Hope they come up with a fix.

I’m not concerned. No leaks yet.

Random question - But anyone's screen never able to keep time? Every time I turn on my bike the time is never correct. This happens even if I don't take out the battery or completely drain the battery.

Not everyone can lift a 65 pound Levo onto their bike rack....Do you use a ramp?

I just lift them up. I get they are heavy, I’d be very thoughtful of this purchasing a full power Emtb. But honestly I won’t weigh them because I don’t care. They are so cool. Saved weight here added weight there. I think people are to caught up in lbs. I’m in shape and ride hard. I will ride until I can’t hang on. When I can’t lift these I’ll get lighter ones.
