I've gone with a 500lb spring and will see how it rides
I'm 82kg and the bike is 25kg with a water bottle.

Photos to follow once the spring arrives

It's interesting how little shaft travel there is on these coil shocks.

Mine is a 60 but has about 5cm of shaft travel, before it hits the bottom spacer.

So - it's now fitted and looks amazing. Thanks for your help @Rail7Lou :)

I can't wait to ride it.

Rockshox Vivid Ultimate RC2T coil shock, 230x60, Rail size Large.
500lb spring, rider weight 83kg, and the sag is around 28%

Anyone tried that Rock shox coil on medium gen 2 alloy ?

Yes and the piggyback chamber hits the downtube at full stroke compression. Sadly the M size gen 2 frames don't have enough clearance but the larger sizes and later models with the 750Wh battery do. I think I also tried a Fox X2 and had the same issue. In the end I went for a DVO Jade X which has the piggyback oriented laterally. This and other shocks with the same chamber orientation works fine.

62.5 on my Gen 4 Large, delighted with it so far. I'm told 65 will fit on the same frame too.

I have benefited a lot from this post! However this figure's shock is the C1 version of the Vivid Ultimate. As an extra information, I brought the newest version of RochShox Vivid Ultimate D1 230x60mm and it works great on my Trek Rail 9.7 Gen 4 Size Large.

Rail 2022 GEN2 alloy medium, Marzo Bomber CR 205x60 with Shockcraft 25mm lift kit hits a little bit. Added a spacer to go back to 57.5mm of stroke, haven't tried it yet. Shockcraft did not mention anything about having to shorten the stroke with their lift kit.

I weight 165lbs, used a 550lbs Fox SLS coil and it rides AMAZING compared to the factory deluxe. Everything is better - Small bump
compliance, predictability, jumping, support, pop, everything !

That lift kit is slick. Expensive as heck for an add on knuckle that adds additional wear points but it definitely opens up more shock options on this platform. Nice!
