Rise Up - What are your upgrades?

Good idea I already have a Speci Enduro with super low BB, no chance of pedaling in the trails without hitting the ground…

- would you recommend to have a 160 or 165 crank set for the rise
- can some one confirm a super deluxe coil 210x55 2023 will not touch the frame xl? I’m afraid the really big spring plate / tensioner might get with the frame

Cheers

I am running 165 cranks with 160mm fork. I would check with Rockshox the coil is ok for the Rise linkage I think the new ones are ok

I run 160mm cranks and thinking of trying out 155mm (on the analog bike first). I have relatively short inseam and the shorter cranks feel a lot better (to me). Might be just a placebo, but I am more balanced i.e. track standing is a lot easier.

Much like any touch item like handle bars (i.e. width), it comes down to preference.

I've recently put on shimano 165mm, so far they are great, less pedal strikes. 160mm would be fine I think, depends on what you can source. I'm old school, used to run 175 on everything but certainly I think shorter (165) has many advantages.

160mm XTs here. Fewer pedal strikes but still get them.

A few times per ride though rather than every few minutes.

Forgot to mention my most important upgrade. A new saddle selle sport, the stock saddle is really awful!

Why 165 and not 160 mm cranks? I still not sure what to buy 🤔
Pretty sure I ended up with 160. They're good/great/hold the pedals/make the wheels turn. Very few pedal strikes. Slightly less leverage on steep stuff with the motor off, but they're still fine.

Either will be fine and you get used to them in a flash.

Just installed my Shimano M8100 Stages Power meter to the left side crank spindle.....I use Power meters on all of my bikes and had this sitting in a parts bin. It's nearly Identical to the FC-m8150 EP8 crank arm and seems to fit fine. Stages PM is a 165mm arm, M8150 is a 160 in the picture. When I realized that the m8150 was so similar, I ordered a 165mm right crank arm off Amazon to match the Stages Arm. Now I have m8150 160's, and em900 170's sitting in my parts bin...

Got a RockShox Super deluxe that I was planning fitting to the rise, trouble is the eye orientation is the same top and bottom, on the rise they area at 45 degrees to each other. Probably a newbie question, but how do I fix this?

just rotate the stanchion...

Finally got onboard with AXS. So far loving how it works but years of habit with shimano shifters has me wondering about the paddle shifter. Not the easiest to use!
EDIT: local shop helped me out and let me swap old paddle with the new design. Alot better, but still fumbling with it when things get hectic on the trail! I have used the left hand bikeyoke adapter, gets it in the right spot for me.

I will pull the cable out and put some black sikaflex to cover the holes soon! I have a 10-45 cassette in the mail as the original one is shagged with 2500kms on it. (not easy to find shimano cassettes currently!)

Completed yesterday! I didn't have plans to do any major upgrades to my H30, but then someone invited me to do some serious riding un Utah, and I realized the bike was not going to handle my 225+ lbs in tough terrain. Now the only original parts left are the frame, cranks, dropper post, and the rear tire.

Had major help from some guy named Rod ;)

- SRAM GX AXS
- GX casette, X01 chain
- Custom wheels with Nobl carbon rims, DT350 hubs, Sapim Race spokes
- RockShox Lyrik Ultimate 160mm fork
- Fox Float X rear shock
- XT brakes/levers with 203mm rotors
- Crank Brothers Stamp pedals
- Ergon SM saddle
- Deity 80mm riser bars
- Better stem on order, this one was an experiment

EDIT: Net gain 1.4 lbs., from 47.6 - 49.

What frame size is your Rise? I've been looking for a PM solution but had seen a few posts that there wasn't enough clearance for the Stages PM; I'd semi-settled on a Power2Max spider, but the price put me off, and I was concerned about the longevity of it with the forces it'd suffer.

Ne

BITEX hubs on LX17 rims . Wider gravel bars with new tape and WTB 37mm Riddler tires and headset.

Does anyone make a custom real linkage for the rise for more travel/progression?

Change the shock for a longer stroke and fit offset bushings at each end, I did this for 160mm rear travel with no change to the geometry. The details are on here somewhere, I can add more info later after work

Cheers, I know that's an option, just wondered if there was an alternative

I like the fact you felt you to swap the wheels for carbon rims to cope with 225lbs. :) Regardless of justification, a great move.

You didn't mention tyres/tires. If there was just one essential change I would make from stock it would be to ditch the Rekon. I can't be sure from the photo. You did that, right? Get a DHRII with min exo+ casing.

Have fun.

Hi,
here is my rise,

changes already done:
wheels, tires, shock, drivetrain, brakes, saddle
to come: fork, stem, handelbar, grips
so i change neraly everything.

questions:
- is there a general rise 2023 thread anywhere?
- When I changed the shock, I wanted to check the torque in the blue paper, and it says 6nm, but the screw itself says 10nm?

- the headset where the cables run into the bike cannot be waterproof. I find the design to be quite inferior on such expensive bikes.
