Where is this...Finally got back to riding some steep stuff. Pictures don’t do it any justice. This stuff is steep, rocky and loose. It trails like these that make me happy I have a mullet. View attachment 169473

Yesterday's sunset in NW Northumberland ..
I haven't been posting ride pics recently due to the fact it takes about 5+attempts to post a single pic ( which seriously pisses me off ) ..
It usually says " parsing attempt failed" ..any ideas as to why ( anyone ) and how to get back to " normal" ?
Cheers
Technology Hodge leave it to the young ones. Picking up my pc today transferred all my pics to hard drive . Copied short cut then deleted everything. They have recovered 300 GB . Guess what I will be doing all winter.View attachment 169517

Or ask the nearest five year old for help.
Not as long as I've got a hole in my arse ..
Met some of the lads( Dave, Michael & Rob ) who form part of our occasional riding group ..as the lucky buggers had spent a week up in Ballater visiting amongst other trails Heartbreak Ridge & Tarland trail centre and were finishing the week riding Gypsy Glen starting at Glentress Trail Centre ..where we ended on the "new" Blue flow trail ( Ant & Michael decided to go back up and do the red & blue again )..so as it was within range of somewhere we would go without thinking too hard about it Ant , Wayne & myself decided to join them ..
A special mention to Phil who had gone to Ballater but due to injury not for the riding ..and waited patiently while the rest of us were out riding .
Stats for the day ..85miles and 4,500ft ..( had to be more).. apparently from starting the ride until I remembered to switch off the Outdooractive app when I pulled the car onto the drive at home.
Great day ..thanks lads !

On Fri, a friend, John, and I went to an Amflow stockist in Matlock, Derbyshire UK to test ride the alloy one, ca £6900. He had an 18-mile route all mapped out based around Black Rock. Unfortunately, it seemed that his route on Komoot was set to "walk" not "bike" and for some reason he wasn't too sure which way was up on the phone. So we set off in the wrong direction a few times. No problem for me, I was along for the ride, the objective was for John to test the bike. He is normally a size Small in a bike, but due to the long thin battery, Amflow don't make one, so he was testing a Medium.
We set off up this footpath, which was not only steep, slippy, rocky and rooty, but had stiles, gates, staircases (within a very loose acceptance of the word). There was walking and pushing involved.

Above, that is Riber Castle at the top of the picture above the Amflow. We paused there while we worked out how to get through a tall narrow stile at the top of a short flight of steps.
After what seemd like an eternity of climbing we came into "The Heights of Abraham" where the cable cars cross the gorge at Matlock Bath. We came in at the rear entrance, not used much apparently.

You can see that the sign hadn't been washed since the day it was erected. This was not a well travelled path. There was still more to climb before we arrived at the kiddies play area! You can see the path behind the sign on the right.

Once at the top, we had a much needed rest break. John was inspecting my new helmet (MIPS and Spherical) to see how it worked. A couple of walkers strolled by. "How did you get here" they asked. John pointed at the small gate we had just come though and said "down there all the way to Matlock town centre". They obviously knew the route and were aghast. I was feeling pretty aghast myself!
We set off from there still following the footpath map towards what it promised would be Black Rock. It had some frightening descents. Not just steep, but rocky, rooty, winding, rough steps on stair cases that looked as though they had been first built hundreds of years ago. Some of the boulders forming the steps had been held in position with lengths of rebar hammered into the ground, with 1"-4" still sticking out! We agree that these sections were above our skill level, double black at least and with a high consequence of failure. No pics sorry, but for the same reason nobody else shows them, we were too busy! We briefly emerged into Comerford (I think), we bumped inot another MTBer and he expressed surprise that we had just come down that path. We let him think that we had ridden it all.
This was one of the easier ones in a flatter section that followed. A winding mud and rock path on the edge of a drop. (No like!)

Finally we got to Black Rock! Those are the black rocks in the right side (surprise!)

But we had taken so long to get there that we decided to start making our way back to Matlock.
The trail started to get a lot easier and we stopped at a viewing point, below.

That is Matlock in the Vee above the red bike. A lady on the next bench pointed out where to look to see six cable cars coming down from the Heights of Abraham. Given that we had been there earlier, it seemed a long way away!
We stormed down "Sheep Descent" to the junction between the now defunct cable railway and the canal, where we stopped at the HIgh Peak Junction Workshops for a brew and a bun. Many years ago, they used to be the rail/canal boat workshops when it was busy.
I took the time to have a good look at the Amflow (I'll post the pics another time). As you can see for the next pic, John was in deep thought about whether he was going to buy the bike or not.He is not really Mr Grumpy!

It was an enjoyable day out with a good friend. The random and unintended route we took served to test the bike in ways John had not planned and I suspect that he is close to a buying decision. I had a quick go and despite the bike being a size too small for me, it rode well up the last steep climb to Black Rock. The delivery of power was unrelenting, but amazingly smooth; my main problem was keeping the front of the bike down.

Wtf is that? It ain't beer.Rode the old steed today. Felt good. Hit Oakbrook Brewery on the way off the trails. Life is good!!View attachment 169817
