Pic of the Day

They are creating ebike categories to run together with XCO style races over here.
Last november, I made a mistake and had my battery end before the last 4 kilometers, wich happened to be a 20% 3km climb where I had to walk uphill for half an hour, triggering a knee pain plus a golfer's elbow pain that lasted until last week.

Then, last sunday I came back, and prepared for the worst, carrying a spare 3kilogram battery on my backpack, just made another little mistake... on this course, the first climb up a 1.000 meters summit had a sigletrack, very technical, wich I could clear, if only there wasn't 100 bikers walking their bikes and clogging the course, so another half an hour pushing the bike uphill, only now with an extra 3 kg :(
This made my heart hate stay above 165 for almost two hours, way more than my cardio would consider a healthy threshold.
That's the price to pay for living in a wonderful place like Brazil. I had a few months work over there on a ship . I have great memories of the days I managed to get off the boat .

Only thing missing is John Wayne on his horse
LOL!...I love those Saguaro cactus. They're that Hollywood icon for western movies. I always got a kick out of movie scenes that allegedly were occurring in Texas when those cactus were never natural here. I love riding in Arizona whether it's on a dual sport motorcycle or MTB.

I once had a holiday at Almaria in Spain once. Went to Mini Hollywood its a cowbow style town out in the wilds where they made some Spaghetti Westerns there . They put on a gunfight and horse show for you. When you look at the scenery you think you're in the wild west yeeha. Brilliant

Here again. Another day at the indoor bike park. Still learning about the flat pedals 😜View attachment 135510View attachment 135511
OUCH!
The first time I felt your pain, I removed the pin from the centre of the leading edge of the pedal, both sides of each pedal. Now when the pedal hits my shin, although it still hurts like hell, at least the pin does not take a gouge out of my shin.

Went out yesterday in the light rain because due to rain much more heavily today (which it is). Took a route which avoided the worst mud and ended up in West Dean, a pretty village with the Lavant River running through it. Then stopped dead when saw this in the village and took some pics - a tanker dumping treated [sic] human sewerage into the river Lavant. The river then flows through agricultural land overflowing its banks and then through the city of Chichester (where I live) and other built up areas before reaching the sea a few miles to the south. I'm also a kitesurfer but obviously not going anywhere near the eastern Solent where I normally kitesurf with this shit flowing into it! Southern Water are fucking bastards. 😠

Went past there again today. No prizes for guessing what I saw. 😠

Hey, that is a good hint. I am using flat pedals with pins only since I bought my eMTB in 2022 and hag a couple of punches in my legs and even the long pants. Its not the pain but the discussions with my misses. 😒

Great pics . Has that snake had an extension added to its tail 🤔 bit of bling going on there.
The end of the tail near the rattler is typical, distinct markings of a Diamondback Rattlesnake. If you look closely, he is pissed off and about to coil up. I’ve heard, and not positive it is true, that there are somewhere near 250 rattlesnakes per acre in some areas. Right now is coming up on breeding season. I see one or hear one in the bushes near the trail almost every ride in the spring. They are out at night in the summer. Night rides or early morning rides in the summer are sketchy sometimes.

Maybe a stupid question. Do you wear any protective garment to not be bitten by surprise?

Not funny:

Wouldn't want to camp there then. Tent boxes must have been invented there. I was camping a couple of years ago and a fox stuck it's head in mates tent.

A winter ride for me but at what cost ..my motor may be fkd ..
More of that later ..but for those who are familiar with it I did the Bolts Law( full) route in the North Pennines ..
I knew there was snow before setting off as I'd WhatsApped Phil at Consett last night ..
For about 3/4's of the ride I was as happy as a pig in shit ..but then the Purion display just went off killing the motor ..came back on then off a few times with me pressing random buttons ..the motor worked without the display for a while then it just stopped working altogether ..got home and the display came back on and it started to charge ..but then its stopped doing that now ( it hadn't run out of charge when it started playing silly buggers with 3 bars still showing prior to it going off ) ..so I will try again later but I'm already resigned to having to buy a new motor (this will be the second replacement with only 1200miles on this !) ..
Hey -ho ..pics from the ride ..

Above..The Peak in the far distance (zoom ) is Bolts Law 540m..which I would be approaching a lot later in the ride from the other side ( unfortunately pushing the bike 😡)
Two very fine gates on the way to Blanchland 😁 1000005538.jpg 1000005540.jpg
Blanchland , Northumberland ..a picture postcard village ..
1000005541.jpg

A water "feature" on the by-way over to Slaley Forest ..gotta keep those 4x4 boys happy ( grrr) ..and no I didn't take it

More standing water approaching Embley Fell ..
1000005544.jpg

The actual trail was holding a lot of water anyway without looking for more ..

Back in Edmundbyers at the end of the ride with the bike hanging its head in shame 🫠

The testing of the freshly installed Sicomtb Products rear mudguard and BikeYoke Willy couldn't have been better. As I reached the summit, it began to rain, and it continued all the way down the muddy slope. Naturally, when I reached the car park, the rain stopped, and the sun emerged. I then spent the next hour washing the bike in the mountain stream. 😄
