Always fancied Las Vegas the strip mostly but I could handle a couple of rides . Need to be winter though I think.
Yepp, Death Valley July some years ago, 47 Celsius. Quite an experience to get outside for one not having been to such climate before.

But strange musicals in Las Vegas at that time….

It's an interesting thing when considering Las Vegas for mountain biking. When I first heard that Las Vegas had trails, I laughed and thought, no way the place is nothing but desert. Who would think Sin City has some excellent world class mountain biking trails? Yes Virginia, there really is a Santa Claus, Vegas has some bad ass trails.

Theoretically, you can ride Vegas anytime of the year....Vegas get's hotter than Hell in the summer months. As an example, Vegas daytime temps for July average around 105 degree Fahrenheit/40.5 Celsius. One must adapt and overcome...Vegas average night time temps for July is 81 degrees Fahrenheit/27 Celsius. Who doesn't love a late night moonlit ride. Fall, winter and spring months are perfect. As an added plus, Vegas doesn't get a lot of rain, so the trails are rarely rutted or blown out.

Here are some additional pictures of trails around the Vegas area:

I think I'd deffo need a guide!

Tunnel Trail in Santa Barbara CA. Quite a few people have lost their lives at this spot as it is a 200ft or so drop...but VERY techy to get to this spot, let alone the entire 2200ft of descent over 3mi. Anyway, look up vids...

As far as Vegas, ride Bootleg Canyon and Boneshaker.....other than that I find most other trails to be....lacking and boorish.

Funny, I've always thought any day on a mountain bike with friends is great. I've been blessed with the ability to not be bored when riding. I love riding Ventura and Santa Barbara. My way of thinking is that all trails are good. You are right, Boneshaker is technical and good.

I find that as I get older (64), the extreme stuff isn't so much my thing. I still hit them, but I tend to be more careful nowadays. Having a bad crash and literally not being able to walk for 18 months will do that. Keep on charging while you can, try not to be bored. It's the little things in life that are special.

Be safe,
Rod

When you think you might try a pump track and dirt jump park on a freeride bike and are not surprised by the results. I will go back to the mountains where I belong! I have to say, I was the best LOOKING rider, out of all the other 6-12 year olds out yesterday!

I think that when you are relatively new to the forum it's very easy to become too defensive ..from what I've read the comments which have offended you really were meant in a light-hearted manner..truth be told most of us like to start out on a clean bike .
Cracking pic by the way but although you gave its location I'm struggling to find it on a map ..is it near Loughrigg Tce..?
Do you ride solo most of the time ..or do a bit of group riding ?
There is quite a healthy collection of riders who meet up on a fairly regular basis from all across the North East & beyond ( 5 of us in Northumberland ) ...you would be more than welcome to join us on a ride whenever it suits you ( by way of showing that we are a friendly bunch ) 😉
Thanks for this post and where about are you in Northumberland, as to the location if you cycle along great Langdale, going thru chapel stile and heading for Dungeon Gill Hotel you then turn left at the end of the road heading up a very steep narrow winding road with side pike appearing on ur left, on the map I’ve included A marked is Dungeon gill B is where I photographed my bike and C is side pike and the little road heads down to Blea tarn where I turn off road not long after here
It is, simmer! Let's not get off on the wrong foot pal, there's a bit of leg pulling on here most days, please don't take it the wrong way. 👍
🤙
