Oooooooer!

Tubs, I'm willing to give up my most prized possesion in recognition of your tireless endeavours. Just say the word & it's yours.(y)😂

Certainly tempted and grateful for the offer, but my also most prized possession has a long life ahead reminding me what a great bunch of riders we are 👊🏼

Sunday's ride at Gisburn Forest. 21.8 miles, two circuits of the full "8" loop. 1500+ kCals, 2700ft.

Thought I would take the extender battery and forgot (muppet!) so all on single 360wh battery and made it back with about 10% left. Needless to say, I was on Eco most of the time with sparing use of Trail and my legs were wasted by the end!

This Orbea Rise takes an absolute battering on the trails. I'm so impressed with it. Gisburn is lumpy (tree roots) and rocky as hell in places and the bike (and rider) hardly get a breather but it takes it all in its stride...

All on a 360wh battery, that’s fantastic…….certainly makes you think about what battery size/motor to run. If the great Whyte stays reliable there could be a second SL type eeb for Aquaman 😳

I’m absolutely loving the Rise @The EMF and yet I’m probably at the total opposite end of who the bike is marketed for. I’m hugely overweight and unfit, yet charge around on a full fat with no problems whatsoever. With the Rise, I’m probably climbing hills at a similar pace to fit riders on leg powered bikes. I’m puffing & panting and feeling the burn in the process, but the quality of the ride on the descent is worth all the pain. I know full well I’ll be getting far fitter on the Rise too and expect to build the leg muscles quicker to make the climbs far easier and faster. My other half is much fitter than me and weighs far less and she charges around on the Rise and gets a similar range to what I was getting on the full fat

You could argue that if I want to get fit on a full fat then to just use Eco rather than EMTB, but it’s far too easy to simply switch modes when the legs are burning and charge up the hill with a big grin. You don’t get that option on the Rise (boost mode drains the battery far too quick - I ride in trail mode) so I’m having to work much harder. Again, the pain is worth the pleasure though as the quality of the ride on the descent is outstanding compared to my full fat

The Rise has made us more sociable with leg powered riders too, joining us on the climbs & trails, chatting away as you do, whilst the full fat riders bomb past with a quick nod hello. Our local woods are dominated by leg powered bikes with full fat emtb’s still being a sore subject, but the lightweight emtb’s just seem to make sense to many

You won’t be disappointed if you get one, just out of breath 😅

I wonder why there are so many Spesh turbo Levo SL’s for sale on eBay?
I do like the slack looking lines of the Orbea 👍

remember the SL’s have 35 Nm whereas the Rise has 60 Nm. If you’re already fit then the SL will be fine, if you’re a fat fuck like me then the Rise has just enough power to get you up those nasty climbs 😆

I’ve had a very impromptu ride this afternoon in the glorious Cheviot hills
I did a loop out of Alwinton onto Clennel St, up to the border ridge at Cocklaw, up to Russell’s Cairn and on to Windy Gyle, on then to The Street and down Black Breas to the valley bottom at Slymefoot, did the road along to Shillmoor farm then off road again to go over Pass Peth and back down into Alwinton.
Was sunny but cold……
If anyone is thinking of joining @The Hodge on Saturday you’re in for a treat coz it dry and the decents are very fast and all the technical climbs are doable.
No pics just stats.

For some great Strava had renamed the route……

PS 22.79 mile
3.34hr moving time
1700 calls

You do telesales whilst you ride ?? :)

What do you sell, water ?

I used to sometimes sneak out for a cheeky lunch ride on the motorbike during working hours, forgetting that my helmet’s Bluetooth headset connected to my phone, which automatically answered when riding. There’s no hiding that you’re on a motorbike when clients or colleagues called, oops 😬

Guessing by your Garmin page, you took them on the blue route twice, and then the lower half of the red, up to Dixons Hollow, cut across to the return route via bombholes ?
Yes that's correct, 2 loops of the blue to let them get used to how the bikes feel, and they were very impressed. A longer final loop but they were shattered by the finish, but very pleased with how the day went.

3 circuits of my favourite trail.
One puncture on the tubeless (nobble torn too much for sealant to work - feck!!), one no idea what's going on but the replacement inner-tube went down, then didn't, enabling me to finish my 3 circuits -
bikeonfence.jpg
so, obligatory pic of bike against fence. Puncture repaired, several bowls of dog drinking water thrown over it to clean it up a bit....

upsidedownwheeloff.jpg
A picture of the dreaded bike-upside-down-to-fix-puncture.

wheeland patented stick.jpg
A picture of wheel with tyre freed to allow insertion of inner-tube - along with patented S.T.I.C.K. which made releasing tubeless from rim a piece of cake :D. I'm going back to decent clinchers with inner-tubes and Slime - never had problems with that in the past 40 years.

Oooooooer!
you'll never guess what happened to me today after my comment yesterday.....
Extraordinarily lucky - picked up a twig into me rear derailleur but only went 2 teeth between the cog/chain so managed to not totally trash anything and extracted it.... karma, eh? - so close (phewface emoji)
