I just purchased this bike from Upway at a great price. 1950 with a 100 off coupon code seemed to be a no brainer. I'm looking forward to getting miles in this winter on a more capable bike. The only things I have done so far are a Quad Lock phone mount and will go tubeless soon. One thing that I noticed immediately was how quiet the Brose T-Alu motor is. It is way quiter than my Bosch Gen 4 CX Perf. Also the Fantic app is actually pretty decent and the display is much better than the Purion that my Gen 2 Rail has. Overall I am super happy with the purchase. It will be getting some Renthal bars and an Apex stem soon.

12-21-24:
Tubeless set up is done. The shop used the stock rim strip and added rim tape and Stans Tubeless schrader valves. The wheels were already drilled oversized. The presta valve tubes that came stock worked OK, but the hole in the rim was way too larger for a presta tubeless stem. They hold pressure rock steady with the Orange Seal sealant.

1-6-25:
Added RaceFace large Chester pedals. They fit my snow boots perfect with tons of grip.

1-13-25:
Added a Renthal Fatbar 35 in a 30mm height and Apex 50mm stem.

1-18-25:
Swapped out the SX shifter and derailleur for XX1.

2-19-25:
Added an internal OneUp 30.9 X 420mm - 150mm dropper post and a Wolf Tooth dropper lever. Pics on page 2.

6-24-25:
Added a Aeroe Spider FAT rack and two 12L dry bags. It added 4 pounds of weight total with empty bags. Pics on page 2.

7-1-25:
Added a Speedbox 3.0. Install was way easier than on a Bosch Gen4 with tight fitting skid plate. I got it up to 28 mph with a 105 rpm cadence on a flat road. Looks like it should top out around 33-34 mph spinning hard.

I see they are all gone now. Must have sold the last ones quickly.

You have to establish a connection on the handlebar display on the bike to the app.

Yeah, they had 3 left on Christmas morning and they were all gone by that afternoon. They reduced the price by $200 and they had sent me a post card with a discount code for $150, tried it and it worked also! Got it down to $1600/$1800 w/taxes and shipping. Unbelievable.

I had removed the battery and was admiring the cable routing clips underneath battery and reached up inside towards the headtube and was surprised at the 2 sharp screws used to secure the cable routing piece to the downtube. I decided to add some plastic protectors on top of those screws from rubbing on cables routed nearby. I am wanting to convert to tubeless but have not found any information about the rims if they are tubeless ready and have popped the tire off the rim yet.

My LBS did my tubeless set up. They seemed to think it was fine doing Stans tubeless schrader valves, 80mm Stans rim tape, and Orange Seal with the stock Jumbo Jim tires. Both of mine sealed up fine. They thought it was a little funny that the rims are already drilled out for the larger schrader valve size but used a presta valve tube stock.

On the rare occasion that I ride in the dry season, I use the wheelset (80mm rim) that came with the bike While I got a good deal, all you guys got a GREAT deal. I thought about buying one as a spare for that low price but I already have a spare motor and extra batteries. The frame will fit the fabled Vee Snowshoe 2XL tire (120 TPI) - I'm running that tire, tubeless, on a 90mm rim. My first 2XL tire fit with no problems. The second tire required some edge knob trimming. ALSO - I had to move the chainring outwards over 0.5" so the chain wouldn't rub on the tire sidewall. It still rubbed when in the lowest gear so I adjusted my derailleur stop so it wouldn't go into that gear. The Brose motor is nearly bulletproof - but not water proof. There is a company that created and sells a seal for the motor that I bought and installed. The motor is very serviceable. My previous efat had this motor and I have several thousand snow miles on them. This T Alu motor has the same form factor as the S Alu motor. The S Alu has a little more torque. The only way to tell the difference is by the part number label on the case. To minimize moisture entering the frame and the motor area, I seal the gap around the battery with electrical tape. As far as range, worst case, I'll get 10 miles when breaking trail in deep (>6"), heavy snow. I'll get 30 miles when riding on more snow packed conditions. Happy trails, the bike and motor are awesome.

Sounds like a plan, give me a couple weeks as I just ordered a new wheelset (cheap Sun Ringle Mulefut 80 rims with 4.8 Maxxis FBF and FBR tires). I am up in the Thornton area and have done most of my fatbiking at places like Aldefer/3 Sisters, Elk Meadow, North Table Mountain and Buffalo Creek. Have always struggled in fresh POW as only had 3" tires on my previous fat bike and still learning about using super low pressures.

Edit *** After rereading my post I thought the 3" tire size did not sound right. Went and checked and my tires on my other fat bike are 4" but still seem super small compared to 4.8"-5" tires.

JB01245 - I've been riding fat in the snow since 2012 when a bought a Specialized Fatboy. I can show you some tips for riding in snow. Most peoples difficulties in snow are usually due to too high tire pressure and not the best choice of tires. Soft and deep snow requires only a couple of PSI of air: As a visual, your tire sidewall will be half its normal height.

The tires for riding fat bikes in the snow are typically 4.8" wide and include Surly Bud and Lou combo, the 2XL which provides the most flotation although it fits on very few bikes. Dillinger 5's and Johnny 5's are also good snow tires.

My "Snow Beast" upgrades - 90mm rims, Bud 4.8" in front, Vee 2XL 5.05" in rear, suspension dropper seatpost, Ergon SM e-mtn saddle, XT brakes, Ergon bar ends, rear rack and panniers, custom cradle mount for extra battery, Manitou Mastodon fork (will fit 2XL tire). On the rare occasions that I ride the bike in the summer, I put the original wheelset on with the 80mm rims and 4" tires.

I included a picture of my front chain ring setup in case anyone is considering adding a 2XL tire and needs to move their chainline. The other picture is from last year on Cottonwood Pass. The road is closed and it is groomed for snow sport travel. On the day of the picture I rode a 52 mile loop (I had my spare battery) that included the pass and other connecting snowmobile trails.

So most any 4.8 tire will work with the Bluto fork? The rear has tons of clearance. Love the set ups!

The Bluto will fit 4.8" tires on rims up to 100mm wide. May fit wider rims too. My other fat bike has a 4.8" Dillinger 5 on a 100mm wide carbon rim with the Bluto. The Bluto will NOT fit 2XL tires - that's why I bought the Manitou Mastodon which the tire will fit. See images below. The main reason the 2XL won't fit a Bluto is because of the tire height/circumference.

Got the new E Fatty up Geneva Basin area over the weekend. Too much fun! A whole new meaning to "cutting trail". Got the new rims and tires yesterday afternoon and installed and am really digging the look with 4.8's!! Also threw on some riser bars that felt real comfortable on the ride.

What type of riding do you have in your part of Iowa? I have seen some clubs that have some decent looking trails that they maintain. Do you have to travel far for descent riding?

We have some nice trails along the foothills that have quite a bit of foot traffic so the trails get packed down pretty quick and are rideable soon after a storm.

There is a park within 8 miles of my house, North Overlook by Lake Red Rock. It’s pretty small but great riding with a mix of everything. We also ride in Des Moines about 45 miles away it has Denmans, Center Trails, Copper Creek, Sycamore and Banner down near Indianola. Our go to is Bentonville. We go multiple times a year. Probably should just move down there when my wife and I retire.

I'm thinking I might do an additional set up with 4.8" and get studded tires for my stock set. I've got Hope Pro 4's on my hardtail and see that Hope makes the Fatsno in a similar Pro 4 config. Might be. good option. I run a Bontrager 108 on my Rail but I've heard they are quite unreliable on Fat Bikes.

I like the Mulefut rim, I've never failed to set them up tubeless on the first attempt, and they look great with coloured or reflective rim tape.
On MTBR the Novatec hubs come in for criticism but I've never had a rear hub fail, but I have had to change the front hub bearings once.
