New Amflow Models?

Are AF hubs any good? Are they the same from last year? What kind if internals are they? Star ratchet? Pawls?

..i'd still like to know if these things can be charged by using the outlet in the back of a truck?

I had three specialized, a full power levo, kenevo sl1 and levo sl2. I was dead set on buying another levo (sl), hoping they would make the levo g4 lighter - didn’t happen. Then I tried to buy the sl sworks- dealer said he couldn’t get them any more (Austria). So I thought they would maybe upgrade it … long story short, today I tried the Amflow px pro, took me not even 10 minutes to decide that this is my new bike. I love specialized but at this point I can’t stomach what they offer (especially for the price)

lol specialized.

Anyone seen a PR in the flesh ?

I was set on a PX upgrade at some stage but now leaning towards the PR.

Wanting to know if the PR has the same diameter downtube as the current PL ?

It looks fatter as its usually pictured beside the PX.

If any of the gurus here have access to both PL and PR, it would be really good info to know the downtube fattness comparison between the two. Or even the actual measurements of a PR. I believe we wont be seeing the PR in bike shops here till late July, so about 4 months away.

Thanks in advance !

My nearest Amflow dealer won’t be getting any PRs until earliest July either.

I’d have thought @Rob Rides EMTB would be able to answer that, as he had one in his launch video?

Well, the standard 800 battery is 71.52 wide and 49.08 high.

The removable one is 71.8 wide and 69 high.

So you can expect the downtube vertical thickness to be approximately 2cm's more compared to the original PL on the PR.

Nice work @Zimmerframe. I didnt think about looking at battery diameter, just took for granted the old & new 800w were the same and the 700w got the special sauce.

2cm is a fair bit

Looking at the other bikes with M2S and 800w, they don't look so big but the Amflow with the removable does.

Yup, a good chunk thicker due to the battery shape, though it tapers a bit so might not seem so bad in real life.

I think the lower end megamo with the M2S and 800 will be the cheapest if you want the skinny down tube. Not sure if it's listed yet, but you're looking at about 1k more.

Yeah the PR may not be Haibike of yore level, but it sure is thick and ugly compared to last year PL model, let alone the beautifully slim PX model.

The megamo.

Anyone seen real weight of the standard PX in size XL?

Not sure if it's already been covered on here, but I see on the FAQ on their site that they don't recommend using a coil rear shock on the new bikes.

Removable batteries are always going to make a downtube bigger. Haven’t seen a PR in person, but it doesn’t look too bloated from all the photos and videos.

I’m about 1:45 of a drive away from Sea Otter. Considering going just so I can check all the new bikes out.

Would an XL size fit best for 1,83m/6ft? I read with previous models this bikes run a bit short in size.

Nothing beats throwing a leg over one. I am 176cm and my LBS had just got a Med and Large in stock and on the floor, went down and got on them both. Was hoping the Med fitted but the geo was pointing to a Large... Med was spot on and I pushed it out of the shop 15mins later.

Depends on body make up too, if you have shorter torso or longer torso for body proportion.

Dont go on the Amflow sizing chart, its a massive variable. 176cm has me in M, L & XL.

It will be smaller, akin to Bosch REX etc etc. stay tuned.
Thanks. No more questions about weight or wh but is there more to the runout that it can be used as a „power bank“ for the battery as if you just clip it in when you’re about to have 10% for example or if it has to be plugged in all the time? I must say I don’t remember how the Bosch one works..

I'm 183cm and will most definitely go size L if I get one. I've had longer and shorter bikes over the years, 475mm reach with decent stack is spot on.

I think the Bosch system depletes the Range Extender and main battery together, but you'd want to check to confirm. In a different thread on here someone posted images of the Avinox manual. It says that their default is to deplete the RE first, but that you can manually switch to the depleting the main battery first if you want.

If I get your line of thinking, you are wondering if you can use the bike without the RE, probably to have the lightest best handling setup, and then when you are nearly out of power, plug the RE in to get some more miles in. Based on the Avinox manual, you could do the opposite of that for sure, by depleting the RE first, and then taking it off and finishing the day with the lightest weight setup, but I'm not 100% sure of your sequence would work. It seems like it should work since their default is to use 1 battery at a time, but the only reason I hesitate to say for sure is some of the 3rd party REs specify that you should only plug them in when both batteries are fully charged, so your idea of plugging in when the main battery is at 10% could be a problem with one of those setups. It's probably the case that those 3rd party setups just aren't "smart" enough, and Avinox's in house setup has a more sophisticated battery management system, but it's worth confirming if you definitely want to use the RE only when the main battery is nearly depleted. Hopefully that info is helpful.

If anything ,the news yesterday makes the 900Wh much less likely to appear anytime soon, they arn't using new small cells (21700) in the 700Wh and the energy density isn't that good. So as many people already said, the new cells that would enable a 900Wh in the same package as the 800Wh, announced at the end of last year, are probably not available to the bike industry and will need considerable certification.
With 21700 is possible.
I have Rotwild R.EX with 864Wh baterry - 21700 cells, 3,58kg (less than original Avinox 800Wh battery), removable (quick realese). For both M1 and M2S:
M1 (already on market, I have one 2 months): R.EX CORE | ROTWILD Bikes
M2S (not available yet): R.EXC | ROTWILD Bikes

Thanks a lot!

I believe Bosch said also both batteries at the beginning is best for the cells (makes sense) and else or the cx could possibly be (sorry I dunno the right word atm) „lowered“ in output while just being on the Rex (just cruising without internal battery and Rex is possible and also putting it on when there are for example 10% are left but like others said it’s not ideal for the cells).

My profile is extremely niche and I’d like to have the Rex just for „safety“ and my own confidence when doing 2-3 tours a year with more heavy duty) and I know that it’s nothing more people will need.

So a Rex which loads the internal battery while doing a break like a powerbank for smartphones would be my preferred thing. But I adapt and just want to get rid of the second 4kg spare battery from my back :)

So again. Thanks and I’ll be patient or try to be :)

Do you think body weight matters as well for deciding between bike sizes? I'm at 85kg and i'm at the high end of L recommendation.

Also how much difference is there in bike's weight between sizes L and XL? 1kg or so?

Can anybody confirm if an M1 chainring locking tool also fits the M2/S please?

I've asked Amflow support for the tool and waiting for them to check and quote, but wondering if I can just buy one elsewhere, quicker.

I have to say - the more I see of these, the more I think the PR Pro is the value bike of the year!
Here in NZ it’s $10k and with the higher capacity battery, fast charger and good mid-tier spec, it looks a great buy for most riders not concerned with the downtube thickness or added weight.

I've never considered body weight when sizing a bike, I'm around that weight too if it helps.

The dream build video does appear to show the same lockring and tool as what I have for my Amflow M1.
