It's a victory of fashion/cosmetics over function, count me as another who will never buy a bike with headset routing.

Record with a scratch here but my generation of Focus bikes, jams & Sams came with headset routing but also blanked off frame ports so the owner could choose how they wanted to run their bike. I'm dunking on Megamo here a bit & they're not the only brand to do this- Santa Cruz are another but I think it partly comes from a place where people otherwise really like the look of the bike & so are disappointed with the implications of having to keep a stock of olives, barbs, brake fluid & rags if they ever need to go near the headset.

When I looked at the picture of the alloy bike, I was hard pressed to understand how it is possible for it to look like a molded carbon frame. I am interested to know how they are able to accomplish that. My guess is that it is a hydro formed aluminum that has a welded seam on the top and bottom, but seriously how do they get those sleek curves. Is it possible we can not see the weld from the side view or is it ground and filled, if so I am totally okay with that.

I was able to see the welds on the seat stay and a very articulated chain stay. Very similar to a carbon bike I am currently riding that has a welded aluminum rear triangle. Overall very impressive craftsmanship.

It's nowhere near that well thought out or engineered I am afraid. They are likley just covering them with some sort of filler/resin and painting over it.

I can't blame companies for sending out tip.of the range Spec bikes however I have to say the AL Reason at £6K looks amazing a decents specification for that price point .
 
Just saw in a video about the bike that they do not have a wire to the AXS system - so extra battery to charge and no Smooth Shift. That is not acceptable for an £11499 bike.
(Please correct me if that's not true)

If the Al version is 2 kg heaver than the carbon at 20.3 then 22.3 is definitely in the range, and top of the list, of my interests for the price point.

Hey @Rob Rides EMTB . Just got off the phone to the guys at Hoops about a pre-order and they said you're currently with the Reason.
Any idea when you'll be airing?
I'm 194cm and according to running the numbers a 50mm stem will put this in a 'slighty'(subjective of course) better ride position than an XXL Amflow - longer chainstays & a similar reach. How tall are you? Hoops are my local so in short when are you giving it back ;-) It's either one of these or get the Atherton 170 Avinox bike next March(but will cost more for an AL bike)

I’m around 191. It’s not too bad. But I’m on 35mm stem and would definitely go 50mm personally.

I’d personally also eek out a bit more wheelbase / front centre with a 38 170 fork. Will shorten reach slightly but add a bit more wheel out the front.

For a Large, it’s pretty big.

Glad to see another brand with the DJI motor. Why does that bike have such long chainstays? 457 seems ridiculous and will be fast in a straight line but hard to maneuver when it gets tight and tricky... Seems like a pretty big miss for the frame designer 🤷

Whats not to like... finally a price point that will have universal appeal for a broad market range. I have wondered how the premium pricing for a passionate and esoteric group of buyers could maintain such stratospheric levels. Nice to see things come down to earth.

So, It will be interesting to see how elastic the pricing is for Emtb’s. Luxury and high end products tend to have high elasticity, ie small changes in price can lead to big changes in demand.

Thanks for the link been searching for the weights, 20.8 kg for their second to top carbon model and 800 wh battery is pretty decent

The most prevalent and similar comparable example for reference possibly. The discussion that I was surprised with is the amount of attention that Crussis had garnered on this Megamo discussion.

That being said, with a few Avinox powered bikes becoming available at similar pricing along with the Amfow at a potential lower price there may be a lot of cross over of other Avonix powered products that bleeds into discussions.

Which is fine, but I was surprised there wasn’t anything in the Amflow part of the forum when I checked.
 
@Rob Rides EMTB

Does the Avniox speed sensor ring works with Shimano rotor without any problems? I've already considered that, as the 6-bolt ones have a concave shape for special bolt washers.
