Levo 2019 - my simple way of stopping the crud getting in the motor casing

Maybe not in US yet as not so many problems as in the Wintery Muddy old UK , but my foam kit was sent out officially from spesh to the LBS for me .
The four bolt cover and other items , I do not know yet , gonna see what it’s like next time we open the cover .
I have told the bike shop I’m quite happy to pay for any improved parts as such and they are happy to fit , my shop are really good and try to do everything they can but say generally the rep is a fucking useless bellend ?

I don't know what a bellend is, but it doesn't sound good ?. I don't think the US spesh dealers in my area are up to speed on e-bikes yet. So far I've had to tell them about stuff I've read from this forum. To their credit, they are admitting their lack of experience. I took my bike in to have the firmware updated but I don't think they did it correctly because the speed on my Turbo Connect Display is still way, way off. My LBS looked up the motor housing dirt issue and told me if I bought the foam (which I did) that they would fit it for me for $40. It's not the dealer I bought the bike from and I guess its not considered warranty (why not ?).

40 Dollars, hell you can buy the same foam, cut it to shape in 5 minutes, and fit it yourself for 5 quid!

I know its not a tough job and I fully plan on fitting the innertibt external fix, but they told me that warranty problems might result if I did the foam myself.

Lol the English meaning of Bellend !
... slang, offensive, vulgar) A stupid or contemptible person quotations ▽. I don't care who he is, he's just a bellend.

I had a call from the bike shop yesterday and discussed whether the foam was intended as a short or long term solution, they believe Specialized is looking into developing a flap but this hasn’t been implemented yet due to concerns over condensation accumulation caused by the higher motor temperatures on the 2019 models. If this is to be believed, there may be something coming in the near future.
I plan to give Secialized some slack and if nothing comes to fruition by mid year I will start pushing a bit harder.

Levo motor guard is now available from “Levo Range Extender “ approx €98.0
Maybe the Specialized version may be similar, but hopefully cheaper

I have the foam installed and did a couple of very muddy, debris laden rides. I pulled the motor cover off and it was very clean in there ! Nonetheless, I'm still interested in a cover solution.

I actually think that specialised may have a point about the flap and higher motor temperatures - ride a 2019 Levo hard, and then see how hot the mounting bolts get, they can get hot enough to be unable to touch, which gives you an idea of the temps the motor gets up to.

So I tried some homemade fenders and ended up using a piece of duct tape across the gap as the best solution. Anything else either caused tire clearance problems or still allowed pebbles to get in between the frame and the rear end.

My bodge job. Should keep most of it out... had to put tape underneath the casing aswell as that seems to have separated slightly
