Forbidden Druid - Avinox Powered

Depends on your local terrain.
Here we self shuttle BC's finest, I get by with a 150/170 e bike, but more travel would be nice for those "point and shoot" sections at unreasonable speeds. An e dread with a 160-170 rear end and a boxxer up front would make me very happy.

This is my truck, so perhaps I've been profiled accurately. Cue the tiny wiener jokes

At least you break the MTB dirtbag trope and can say that your bike doesn't cost more than your vehicle.

Yes I guess we just dial in to what we have. Here in Rotorua where its not all steeps there are heaps of good trails that the lesser travel seems to thrive on without getting overawed on the bigger stuff. I do enjoy a good Boxxer though. Got one sitting idle at home

The geo has always been a bigger factor than travel for me. 180/180 og kenevo had old school geometry. Was a trail bike that felt like a couch. Kenevo SL felt like a downhill bike that just wanted to go fast (albeit geo adjustments could mitigate that )

The e Druid makes really good use of th travel imo. Combined with the modern shocks having HBO, that somewhat helps the bottomless feel while still maintaining the “poppy” feel for me

I bet the e dread will shred, but I am happy to have a better (for me) all around bike for the varied terrain. If I lived in BC.. well..

My Druid is about to clock 500 miles. Is there any sort of maintenance the idler requires?

Anyone bought fast charger yet and found a decent deal better than £250 anywhere?

Ride Scotland quoted me 220 IIRC

I'd take the chain off and check the bearing on the Idler. Mines done about the same milage now and still like new mind you.

Have you done a purchase?
My current vehicle has a socket in it and have been using the slower charger for a top up at lunch time and get a bit extra but just need to get a power bank and charger ordered by spring.

Awesome that’s good to know!! I’ll check it this week

I’ve order a fast charger in readiness for a trip I have planned at the end of Feb. Already have the power bank so should be good to go for the first multi day excursion of the year. Not quite sure what the final cost will be as I normally get a cheeky discount from my lbs.

Nah I've not bothered yet. I get plenty range out the 800wh for a good days ride as it is.

Maybe if I was doing a day at the bike parks or something I'd get one and turbo the climbs all day but for what I'm doing now I'm yet to need a charge midday, most of the time that wouldn't be practical anyway as would mean having to head all the way back to the car anyway

Yeah same here!

Mates currently on a bike with 2 big batteries so I’m having to slog it in eco but still managing pretty big days. But know once summer with more daylight getting another 60-70% after lunch would be beautiful 😂

Winter in Scotland 🙄😂

Can't wait for thr better weather to arrive, Handbuilt Enduro trails up at Laggan today, Some sketchy moments

Turbo all day because of the weather with a good few uses of Boost, Probably 8-10 minutes worth 😅

22km with 850m vert and still had 25% left. Was only a couple degrees C above freezing as well so won't have been helping efficiency

Nice, some epic trails around your way, it’s where all us southerners wished we could ride 😎

We don’t have the snow down here, we just have waterlogged trails. Different kind’a fun but can’t wait for some dry weather.

How are you getting on with the high rise bars? I’m still tempted to try 50mm rise but not sure if any downside?

Feel decent on the steeps, Need to weight the front end a bit more on the more mellow, bermy stuff though but may play with the spacers again and drop it a bit more but overall it suits me

Thanks, will have to try a set soon. There’s a lot of tuning room with the spacers, even to get the bar height back to a similar position to the standard 35mm rise bar.

Today, I swapped my 25 mm handlebar for a 50 mm one and installed 25 mm spacers. Finally, I achieved the DH position I had been aiming for, and the bike felt fantastic. I ride in a very forward position, and the flatter bars had previously put my hands too low, giving me an awkward feeling. Now, my hands are aligned with my arms in a stronger position.

Every rider’s anatomy and preference are different, and this is my perfect setup.

Nice, thanks. Any downsides?

The next batch of eDruids, the Nought-e and the downcountry/XC-ish Spur competitor allegedly will be available to consumers in July (little trust in Forbidden shipping dates 🤥).

Still think they'll be announced Sea Otter-ish (mid April).

No and it's not an urgent/issue either after speaking to Forbidden.

Just a slight revision but there's nothing wrong with the original. UK owners should be getting them sent out or to their dealer.

There isn't any issues with the original part
It's just a redesign, probably when they were doing the Nought E and 26 Druids.
Any news on how the redesign is supposed to improve anything and ard there any reports of failures on the original design. If people are replacing you would think they had a reason

It just lets it sit more flush with the frame, Not really an Improvement on anything. Just a slight redesign.
