Forbidden Druid - Avinox Powered

Yes my charger runs way hotter than my Bosch charger ever did. I am pretty sure I will get a fast charger so we will see how that goes.
Anyone knows where to get Avinox 12A fast charger in USA?
I am not sure what happens with tariff if I get it from Europe due to policy changes happened so far.

+1 mine too. It’s hot to the touch and buzzes. But Dji knows there stuff so I am not too worried

The fast charger also gets quite hot too the touch, I have not thrown a probe on it but I will later today.

Edit:
Here is my fast charger thermal images, it was only running for maybe 20mins at this point. I went from 2% to 20%

I let it charge for 2hrs and it got up to 150~F

I just got the bike (Druid CorE) and noticed battery level is very low, so I started charging. Then I noticed the charger making hissing sound with it being very hot.

Is it normal that the charger gets this hot? 61.5C.
Anyone knows the normal operating temperature expected for this charger?
I am using the standard charger (4A) included.

I'm at 54C pretty consistently.

As long as it's designed for that it should be fine. I imagine it'd have to be bigger like the Specialized one to do what it does cooler.

Put on a different wheelset with a different cassette and I think my upper jocky wheel rubs the cassette when shifting from 3nd to 2nd and then to 1st gear. This is on a bike stand, i assume under sag it will clear... bike is currently in pieces so can't test myself. It shifts fine in any other gear.. maybe I missed a step during the setup process.

Check your b tension setting. Thats usually the issue in that scenario

An unpopular opinion, but I'd not ever want a bike with an 800wh battery.
Even equal weight bikes (49lbs), but one having an 800wh battery and one having a 600wh battery, the 800 always feels very noticeably heavier.
It's a pity manufacturers design their 600wh batteries to be the same length as a 800wh. There's more cg lowering to be had by making the 600 the same diameter as an 800, but shorter so that the weight can be carried lower.
Not sure wanting to keep ebike weight as low as possible is an unpopular opinon! All though I guess the "not ever" having an 800w is stronger opposition than many.

Do you mean it's a pity other manufacturers? The 600w Avinox is same width but shorter. I've heard people are getting the CorE and swapping for the smaller battery exactly for the reason you say - lose weight, but importantly lose it from high up the bike. I'm interested... but I'm not sure if a) I can get hold of a 600w battery in NZ, b) I want to invest another wedge of cash when I'm very happy with it as it is. Would love to try it though!

Anyone riders with AXS having issues with gear shift? I can't seem to get 7->8 to work cleanly. I re-did all the AXS setup as per Sram website last night, but still no improvement.
A big part of my problem was I'd set the Avinox system up as if it was 11 speed, not 12...🤦‍♂️ I wondered why the display was only reading 11 in top gear.

No b tension on axs transmission tho. Everything seems fine when riding.🤷‍♂️

When attaching the derailleur make sure to pull it back to take up the tension. If you follow the install guide I posted a page or so back you can’t go wrong. Your chain should be touching anything else though.

Bosch in particular, as one might consider them to be the most common motor/battery system at this point.
I suspected dji's was shorter, because of the many comments that the core was very noticeably heavier feeling than the lite.
I had planned to pick up a lite and swap on some decent suspension.

hmm i remember somehow my derailleur came out of the "A" setup mode when i was pulling it back torquing things down. Once it was torqued I realized what had happen so backed it all out and followed the steps again from SRAM. After putting down 20 miles today and it shifts so crisp and smooth that I'm just going to leave it alone. I'll follow the steps from lovemtb if the drivetrain starts making noise.

Yes I was talking to guy yesterday who has done exactly that. Running ohlins 38 up front and ext coil

@Chairman You got a CorE, eh? How are you finding riding it with the 800wh battery? In the long months leading up to getting the bike, I'd convinced myself I wanted to throw a 600wh in to reduce the high/front weight. After riding it I don't know if I will bother, although I'd love to try it out. I DO think I'll be loving the 800wh for a full day riding in Vegas, though!

Any more details ? How is it? I like the lite suspension but given how fast and confident this bike feels , I can see myself going burlier on the suspension at some point.

I find the bike extremely well balanced. The front end feels light to me but I am coming off riding Boxxers.so that might account for a bit but I love this thing. It feels nimble and holds speed incredibly well. All these rides were in Vegas. It's like this bike was purpose built for everything Rotorua has to offer

Only that he said he couldn't get on at all with the Lyric. He basicly has it set up as a core E with a 600. He hadn't tried an 809 but he rides reasonably conservatively and he expects the 600 will offer all the range he needs

So awesome. Yip, all I can think of is how perfect the CorE will be for whakarewarewa! Sadly I have too many family things on for the next month so I’ll have to bide my time…

How are people liking the vivid ? Pair well with the bike? The SD is really good on the more but I am shock curious after riding my local “enduro” laps today

Anyone tried to put a 250mm AXS Reverb on an S3? Will it be almost fit fully down into the Tube?

To me they both feel pretty similar but I'm just the average rider. The vivid is supposed to feel plusher because of the high volume air can but I can make it down the mountain on both just fine. If i had to pick one for the Druid E i'd go SD and that's exactly what i did today with the lyrik up front as well. The lyrik utlimate feels like it has better small bump compliance. Maybe it's the buttercups? idk but i know i don't need the stiffness of the zeb with the increased weight penalty because i'm a lightweight at 145 lbs kitted up. I'll probably end up selling the zeb and vivid eventually. I still want to do back to back comparisons with the vivid and at some point increase the stroke on the SD or keep the sd at 140mm and swap the lyrik air spring for a 160mm. I feel like that would balance the bike out better imo. My bike as she currently sits is 48lbs. The SDU and Lyrik dropped about 1 lb of weight and the wheelset/tire/xo cassette dropped 1.5lbs. Would like to get my hands on the 600wh which would drop it down to 46.

As an aside, I'm looking to pick up a torque wrench (I've got a line on a discount one through work), what's the minimum (lowest) torque setting on the Forbidden. I've got a wrench OS that I leave (sourced through the US) that runs 2Nm to 20Nm, but the one I can get here is slightly higher.
I know on my Norco VLT, there is a bolt that holds the battery bolt in that is specified at 4Nm... TIA

Good report ! I will keep tweaking the SD as it is really a good shock so far. I am bottoming it out too much , but I haven’t messed with more tokens yet

I agree that the lyrik at 160 (plus with buttercups as I have the select plus) could help too. I am going to test my mezzer at some point too .

What wheelset are you running to loose that much weight ?

IMG_0608.jpeg

I did first ride in rain and wireless remote (menu button) stopped working. I opened it after getting back home and found that there was water inside and the humidity indicator seem to be agreeing as well.

I tried to turn it on after drying it but it doesn’t work. I ordered new battery just in case.

Anyone experiencing water problems with Avinox remote?

That's another thing the vivid has over the SD is adjustable bottom out control. I have the build 2 btw so stock wheels are heavy af. Wheelset is nobl TR36/sapim d-light spokes/sapim alloy nips/hope pro 5 hubs. I've dinged the rims a couple times and I haven't needed to true them yet.

I had a dead battery issue after ride #2 on one of mine, I have not checked again for water ingress though. Isn't there rubber seal that sits between the case and bar?
