Forbidden Druid - Avinox Powered

It might but I honestly wasn’t paying too much attention.

Seriously mine sounds like a hand mixer. Looking at the amflow threads the theory is some motors have more grease than others from factory.

Not sure, if it was this forum or another. the wheelset of the core3 version weighs around 2.4kg (5.2lbs)! I am pretty sure a decent enduro wheelset around 1800g is heavy duty enough.

So we built up a S2 build three for a customer and it was 53lbs without pedals. So a decent weight difference between the two build specs.
Interesting. It's hard to see where the Xtra weight could come from

As sprousaTM mentioned above, the core3 wheel set is 2400g while the core2 is 2250g (assuming it is the e-alloy 2.0 model), there is a 120g delta in cassette weight between core2 GX and the core3 1270 cassettes and the OneUp v3 is one of the lighter droppers on the market with a 79g advantage to the core3 TranzX dropper (couldn't find confirmed TranzX weights). I'm guessing the saddle on the core3 carries a big weight disadvantage as well — but assume most will be running their preferred saddle, so that is moot.

So that is 1#/449g in estimated delta right there.

This is partially offset with the eagle 90 shifter and derailleur being about 100 grams lighter so there's a bit of seings and roundabouts

I’m Beginning to lose interest in the Druid, my dealer told me they would have a delivery update in a few days that was a Month ago and herd nothing, I originally order in April for late August delivery, Plus rumour has it the 2026 Model isn’t too far away

Yes it’s been pretty shit. I know there are only a few of them at forbidden but the inability to give customers firm timelines and being months overdue is a bit crap. I don’t blame the shop they are emailing and calling all the time but get nothing. Or is this usual for the industry now?
Problem is unless you want a different motor you’ll be waiting months for any dji bike apart from an amflow. I don’t think waiting for a 26 model is a good idea what benefit would that bring they aren’t going to change anything apart from poss colour.

My Core showed up today, going straight to the shop today for the wrap install. I hope to have it back by the weekend.

As in Avinox 2026?

If so that's still well into the Spring for that to appear/be available

Just hold out, it's shite but I bet you'll regret it. Especially seeing as how limited they are going to be, you'll be lucky to even see one out and about with the numbers that are actually coming

Not sure if i'll install these 155mm cranks due to the amount of pedal strikes i had on my first ride. I did have my vivid sag set at 35% though.

Ok - I have a mini-review on my Lite build 2, S3 after ~ 55mi and ~8kft vert this weekend in the North Tahoe region. Background/caveats:
1. I have been on SL bikes for the past 5 years (Levo SL gen 1 then KSL gen 1 for most of the last 4 years). So, my experience with the avinox was always going to be "holy crap.. that's powerful".
2. I tend to ride aggressively and consider myself "advanced". I typically have liked my bikes more on the "plush" vs. sporty side, but lately, I have wanted something with more "pop" over my kenevo SL.
3. The trails this weekend in Tahoe were all-time in terms of hero dirt conditions. My rides to-date may be tainted partially because of that. I will update as I ride my more local trails.
4. I weigh ~190lbs, 6'1" tall.
Mini-review
1. Power/Range - right off the bat, I tuned up Eco to 55nm/400w, which feels akin to Turbo in my KSL and detuned Auto a bit (not much). I mostly rode Auto over the weekend, with a bit of Eco when I was pacing my friend riding my KSL. Trail and turbo were used just to try out. I think i will ride Auto most of the time unless I am really pressed for time. The instant torque and max power of even just trail are just so much to what I am used to, and it doesn't really feel like biking (IMO). I am sure that may change over time. Range wasn't terrible, but not great. The ride where I was pacing my friend (in better shape than me) on my KSL was mostly single track climb and descent, ~20mi and 2750ft vert, I used 70% of the battery in my modified eco + some auto. Another ride were I was auto and then trail about equal , we did 11 mi and 2kft vert, I used ~55%. I think if I was the type to do 2hr+ rides regularly, I would want the 800wh battery.
2. Fit/Geo - the bike came setup with 20mm of spacers under the stem on the already tall bike. I rode it that way and actually really liked it. I may add 5-10mm on a stem change, but the position felt great for me, really put me in the center, did not put as much pressure on my lower back, and actually felt roomier most of the time than my S4 KSL which has more reach but shorter stack.
3. Climbing - I mean.. it's the motor. Auto is great for singletrack. The long chainstay, position on bike, and traction control make climbing a breeze. Shock lockout on the road was actually really good coming from Fox.
4. Handling - best handling bike for my style of riding that I have ever ridden. Closest that i can say recently, was the demo S4 Gen 4 Levo, but that was noticeably heavier. This bike corners like it's on rails (read caveats on trail conditions). It never felt cumbersome, and definitely felt lighter on the trail than my KSL even though it's probably a couple of pounds heavier.
5. Jumping - very natural jumper once I dailed in the suspension. within one or two rides, I was already used to the longer CS. The pop was great with the SD shock. Again, it felt like it took way less effort than my KSL. I definitely bottomed out more than I would expect, but that is most likely solved with tokens in the fork. The HBO on the rear was very smooth.
6. Descending - it felt really fast. the bike definitely punches above it's weight. At least on the trails that I was riding, I did not hold back. It's a little harsher than my plush KSL (expected), but the high pivot definitely helps. It never felt out of sorts. I will try it on my chunk now that I am home, but I don't think it will feel limiting.
7. Things I might change - I already threw a gravity albert on the rear which is a great tire. I will probably change the front at some point , but the assegai felt pretty good. Knowing me , I will probably end up with 150mm in the rear via removing the spacer in the SD and 160mm up front. I am not sure i need a "stiffer fork", but I can try my mezzer pro out to see if I like it.
Overall - super impressed. We will see if it holds on my local trails, but it hits the marks that I was hoping for when I originally got in line.

I hate you all...:sick:, we are heading into our riding season here down under, and we are last cab off the rank by all accounts....even our neighbours from the land of the long white cloud have theirs! WTF!!
Oh well, I'm told delayed gratification is good for the soul! If it's not here by the first week of Dec, they'll have to hold it for me till mid March next year as I bail to the cooler climes of the Northern Hemisphere for our summer! Bummer.

I saw 3 others in Rotorua on Friday each one at least as happy as the last. Hold out bro

Taking out the motor...

I went about shortening my brake hoses and seat post housing to tidy up the cockpit. Brakes sorted easy but distractedly pulled the cable through the housing and needed to push the housing up the seat tube to put the cable back in - it got jammed in the nest of cables etc under the motor.... After much stress and sweating I decided to risk it and drop the motor. It was surprisingly easy, just the cover and two bolts (which have a 6mm on the bolt head side and an 8mm circular 'nut'). Was great to have the exploded diagram from the Forbidden website. With one bolt left in, but loose, I could tilt up and hold the motor in place and access all the cable housings etc. With the bike upside down it was really safe, no risk of it dropping and ripping out all the wires... I think a battery swap would only be a 10-15 min job. Not something you'd probably do mid-ride, but fine if you need to travel on a plane and ship the battery separately.

Anyone riders with AXS having issues with gear shift? I can't seem to get 7->8 to work cleanly. I re-did all the AXS setup as per Sram website last night, but still no improvement.

Yes I have had the same on my sons amflow. I just started from scratch again with this install
I think over time things seem to deteriorate through knocks and use with the t type. It’s good to reinstall and align everything again. My shifting is much better now.

Hey. Concerning the Transmission/ AXS Issues: actually it is the first SRAM product in years on one of my bikes. I preferred shimano all the way. o_O I had some issues too - since i found out that the derallieur itself wasn´t fastened enough so the chain tension was too loose -shifting was not possible. Since then i just fixed it and micro-adjusted the pulleys to "7" i think. Works fine except that the 1st Gear is making some Idler-Pulley noise. But otherwise its fine. Maybe you wanna check that.

Besides that i really love the bike and especially how quit it is. My Avinox has some minor noises but nothing compared to the shimano EP801 i was riding before. REALLY lovely ride quality overall and exceptional suspension, even though it is only T2 "Select+" Damping. Awesome!
I was just wondering: did anybody put some moto-foam or something similar in the empty space? I am worried that this is the only place where dirt and moisture may cause problems some day..
