Forbidden Druid - Avinox Powered

Yeah I get that but they are coming in via air, at least to us in the UK.
i find this very hard to believe, that is so much more expensive and for what? a few weeks earlier? what's the point of this? what does forbidden gain by losing money just for delivering the bikes earlier?

Been following this thread from the start so it seems only right to add my 2 cents. Picked up my S3 corE 1 on August 23rd from the Trailhead in Shrewsbury. Got the deposit down early (mid April) so my bike was on the first delivery.

So far it's had:

-Limited edition teal maven ultimates
-Shwalbe radial tyres
-Ergon GA2 fat grips
-Carbon stem spacers
-K-edge stem cap
-Invisiframe

One up V2 carbon bars going on shortly but otherwise I'm happy with the spec. I've had it out on two decent rides so far, once at Bikepark Wales and once around local South Wales steep tech. First impressions are incredibly positive. Coming from a Santa Cruz Heckler 9 size large (I'm 5'11") I was slightly worried about the geometry being so different. Reviewers have mentioned it takes some getting used to, I honesly felt right at home and was riding at PR pace almost immediately. The way it carries speed is amazing. Never ridden high pivot before so I took a bit of a risk, and I'm not disappointed. The 210mm dropper fully slammed into the frame is amazing. The wheels are mint. The 150mm cranks are a big change but getting used to them. The Avinox motor is fantastic, love the power, the interface, the customisation, the slim 800Wh battery and downtube. Fit and finish overall is excellent. Really can't fault it.

Are people in Canada getting theirs? If not, I find that strange Europe would get them first. Maybe a bigger potential market and Forbidden want to stoke the flames?

The unreliable US policies obviously has exploded best laid plans. October is what I've always been told when they were revealed (if you weren't in the advance insider shop orders).

Your bike is a real looker. I went with almost the same setup so I am excited..
OneUp 210 / OneUp 35 Carbon bar
Title st-1 chrome stem
SRAM maven teal limited
DT 1700/1900 wheels
Schwalbe radial Mary and Albert
Odi grips
Prologo w650 saddle (some don’t like the optics but it is a short saddle and is really tough)
GX transmission axs
XTR clipless trail pedals

Due to some issues with my leasing company (obviously „forbidden“ is not listed there yet) 🙄 my LBS gets to keep the bike for another week 😬!

We should all find a Region for a group ride sometime😋 .. it seems the bike itself is a limited edition.

Beautiful build. Do you have any rattle with the avinox motor?

Nice man, the brakes look so good on the bike! Took a little work to get them running right. Had a wandering bite point on the front so I did a piston massage and another bleed and they're mint now. Running the 220mm rotor on the front 200mm rear with organic pads at the moment which is working really well. Probably will switch to sintered pads when the winter hits.

Also, forgot to mention how good the AXS integration with the avinox motor is. Shifting while coasting is a game changer

That sounds really well! Yours is a beauty. Have you ridden the radial tyres before? Heard they have a more planted feel to it .. right now I love my usual Schwalbes.

Now as you write it I am happy I chose the axs.. I was indecisive if it is really better than the eagle90 (since my LBS only ordered the T3 model I could upgrades) but who knows what’s coming next.
The brakes look fantastic! 😍

Ah bollocks my s3 core 1 will prob be the same where you getting yours?
Getting mine from Tweed Valley Bikes but not impressed with them, They have not answered one question that I have asked about the bike, I even drove two hours to go into the shop to ask some questions they took my name and number promised to call me back and still nothing

Nice, I wondered if the owner would come on here after seeing it on their socials.

I did my deposit the same time and was told I was one of the first in the Que but seems they only have their smaller sizes at the moment

Weird you've had a vastly different experience to what I did with them. Neil answered everything i asked but did say it was going to be October batch for an S4 regardless of spec

Neil was fantastic when I ordered and paid a deposit, I'm just a bit annoyed that I've been ignored ever since I paid my deposit but hopefully all will be OK

You beat me to this one! Im Shrewsbury based and had a bullit on order with trailhead but asked to switch to this but he’d already sold the core 1 s3 he had coming 😁

Hopefully mine will be here in a week or so gone with some radials, 38s for the front and a Push VTX on rear. Good to hear you enjoying it

First time I've ever run Shwalbe tyres on this new bike so it's difficult to draw a good comparison. Running continentals before this. So far so good though, biggest take away I have so far is when they do break traction, it's predictable.

When I say mid April, to be specific it was the day after the YouTube video with Ollie came out on the 10th. I rang around the dealers first thing on the 11th!

Sandy at the Trailhead was great all the way through, have no problem recommending them.

Yes I thought about it for a few days after that… yes I’ve bought off him before he’s sound. I moved up here from south wales so will be heading back once I have it whereabouts you been riding?

Smilog, Barry Sidings and Clydach Vale mainly. So much great stuff in the vicinity

How do you like the Mavens? I have the same teal ones I intend to put on my corE when it arrives, it looks 🔥

I think we should have ours in NZ by the end of this month. Keep the reviews coming boys. I have an s2 and am delighted concerned that at 5 ft 6 I may have been better suited to an s1. Anyone have a view on this? My predominant trails are the best Rotorua has to offer

The trailhead fitted them for me and they came with some issues, wandering bite point and a spongey lever, I don't think it was their fault though. Reviewers have mentioned this so I was kind of expecting it. I think they need to be run in a little bit. I did a piston massage and bleed and now love them, won't be running anything else. The bleed kit included with the limited edition brakes is perfect

A few more pics

Utilising the fast charger over lunch. Bit annoying that the fast charger wasn't included considering what the bike cost... Gained 60% of battery in just over an hour

That is absolutely stunning.

I'm interested to know more about how it rides. When you've got a few more miles under your belt, please can you let us know what you think of the high pivot?

Happy to update after more riding, but so far, I would have to say the hype is real. Riding trails I know well I find myself looking down thinking wtf how am I carrying so much speed 😂 A little extra drive train noise and resistance is noticeable but the positives far outweigh the negatives especially on an emtb.
