If You still remember Your first ride on an eMTB...
You will get the same feeling at Your first winter ride with Ice Spike tires.

I have enjoyed several weeks with rides in cold and snowy conditions.
So much fun and so scary with the icy parts of the trails

Got a pair of used Scwalbe Ice Spiker Pro 29" for 25 £.

Went for a ride temperature around minus 8 celsius.
25% of trail covered with ice - The rest covered with hard pack snow.

Man - the Spiker Pro gave me almost the same kind of grip as on dry conditioned.
The drag from the tires a like zero % - as you get from steel and ice...
And the cornering as fast you want.

This new sensation for me was like the very first ride on an eMTB.
All smiles and no regards of the cooold weather.

Just tested the same tyres this weekend, but I must say that I was disappointed of the grip in deeper snow. It is only on ice and hard packed snow they work better. Still fun to try though!

Low res video of a couple of runs on the ice from the same weekend but with Maxxis mud tyres instead, they worked almost as well on the ice that had a thick layer of snow.

They do give you superpowers! I prefer carbide tipped concave studs (such as those on 45NRTH tires). Also, tire pressure matters a lot - as low as you can go in the snow! On my fatbike I'm running studded 4.6" tires at 4 psi. Hooks up great in most conditions - with the exception being deep heavy snow. Nothing works in that mush.

Agree - they're no good in deep snow - But insane grip on ice hard packed snow ?
