E82 Dengfu frame now available

They had lots of issues with the design of the rear triangle on the 971 frame. It kept breaking, they redesigned it 2 or 3 times. It’s the reason I have an E82 instead of the 971. My order kept getting pushed for like 4 months until I eventually just told them forget it.

Jim was pretty open with communicating during it which I appreciated, but in my opinion there was just something wrong with the design of the frame. I’m hopeful they’ll one day make a DJI frame but it’s a pipe dream. They do actually sell one Bosch frame I believe.
I guess you haven't seen this then?

Wow how in the world did I miss that?? I had been checking their website for any new releases but somehow missed the thread here.

Edit: Now I see it's the Teewing bike, I had seen the Teewing and thought it was a pretty cool setup; never realized it was a LC frame. Too bad it's relatively small travel, if they had a more Enduro oriented frame with more like 170-180mm travel and a .5-1 degree slacker head angle I'd be placing an order today. Really something closer to the Crestline in terms of geometry would be ideal.

What happened with you and LightCarbon? What kind of a problem did you have with battery installation? What do you mean with LCE971 having less reliability?
About the LCE971 the fails of the rear triangle are easly finds and ofen occuerd. For me (cracks at the 2nd exit), they have estimated that is my responsabilities, because i have modified the link and assembled it in "reverse direction". Whitout able to justified technically why my modifications had caused the cracks (i have proved us that all their justification are wrongs).

About the battery installation, the problem is that lightcarbon design they frame to use only bafang battery (hard to find and in 43V), rather than SZZS and dengfu who propose their battery with the frame. For those who want to use 48V battery or an custom build, bafang battery case are not available and custom bracket needed to fix custom or generic other battery availble and build custom battery cover to close the battery hole. Not really a problem for me, but more complicated than SZZS for exemple, who delivery frame (CEF50) with battery installed inside.

i had also other disappointment with light carbon. their custom color paint are most expensive than others also. not the "better" for me, as said, but just my opinion and i share it to compensate those who estimate that they are the best. Are they really purchased and tried the others frame builder ? me yes.

You’ll eventually learn you can’t trust anything these direct to consumer Chinese manufacturers put in their documentation. Bafang, Dengfu, etc. they all have horrible docs out there, often with different information in different places, nobody can concisely explain how anything actually works or provide a definitive answer, and many things are quite literally lost in translation. Even though they show a 210mm shock fitting with the longer yoke, mine was hitting the damn frame when fully extended and required me to grind a few mm from the inside of the yoke to clear it, none of it makes any sense. It’s unfortunate we don’t have any more reliable companies selling these DIY type components, you either pay through the nose for a prebuilt bike from one of the big names or deal with navigating this sea of missing or mixed information yourself based on forum posts. Dengfu changed bushing sizes for the front of the shock only on Large+ frame sizes for example, and has it documented nowhere nor will they even admit there was a change. It’s just an unmitigated disaster out there.
You are right, it’s crazy. I think I saw your post of fitting 210 shock and it was really crazy. I’ve ordered XL frame so I hope I can fit there 230 just fine with enough clearance in extended state? I would really like to fit vivid 230 but I’m afraid to order in now but it makes no sense to me since I saw some ohlins fited with e82 frame and looked great in extended state. So don’t understand why vivid would be the tight fit if it’s same eye to eye distance. Maybe it depends on frame size ?? I’ve ordered XL so hopefully they will be enough clearance but still worried.

The few cases I have seen about LCE971 rear triangle have been interesting. Hard to say much about them. I have not seen any of the new rear triangles broken.

Ah now I remember your case. You clearly are in denial about your situation since I remember majority of the people clearly told you that you are in the wrong and they agree with LightCarbon. So I don't think you have proved anything.

I haven't heard anyone else having problems with the battery? Just buy a SYR 014 battery (or just the case and build your own battery). There are tons of them available with any configuration you could want? It's perfect match for the frame and all you need to do is to bolt the battery connector and lock on? Screw holes etc match perfectly.

Can't say much about the painting cost of the frame but the paint quality is extremely high and not sure if they still use the same place as before but if they do multiple of the big name bikes paint their frames in the same place. I think the painting cost was something like 120-150€ depending on what you want. Seems like a really good price to me. Not sure if things have changed so I could be wrong.

Wow yeah I just looked up his thread, what a joke. Modifies the frame by drilling holes in it and reassembles it backwards and somehow thinks it’s not his own fault it broke? Wild.

Yeah... Few of the broken rear triangle cases were super sketchy as well.. and sad part is that many people lie because they try to get a replacement for free even though they know they did something wrong themselves. I had a single carbon strand inside the rear triangle that went cross where the gear shift cable was suppose to go. At the start everything seemed fine but after a while I started to have problems with shifting and once I couldn't figure it out I removed the cable housing and the single strand of carbon has eaten through the cable housing.. I took pictures (also from the inside of the frame) and sent them to Jim. I was given a replacement rear triangle for free and Jim even sent me their new headset cover for free for better cable guiding. He was also nice enough to let me pack other stuff I bought in the same package without additional cost for me. Bought few spare parts etc.

Yeah Jim seems like a great guy and I still believe LC makes good products, I just got sick of waiting of the redesigns on the 971 and just needed a bike. I’d still buy something from them in the future. That Teewing frame has me very interested in possibly building a DJI bike, I just really wish it had a little longer travel. Otherwise it looks just like what I would want to build.

Yea. When I was about to order mine they just stopped selling the old version and told me to wait for the new one. I asked if they still had the old ones in warehouse ready to go. I said I want one of those instead of waiting and we were able to make a deal 😅

Really? When I begged them to just ship it with the old triangle (That they had already painted) and then ship the new one once done, Jim told me they weren’t allowed and the production manager was forcing them all to be destroyed for safety reasons.

Lol. I guess this happened before that 😅 I think I ordered mine few weeks before you did if I remember correctly.

Hello guys, how do you route shifter cable ? I guess this design is not good since the hose is pretty tight against that frame opening and I believe it will rub there pretty bad. Any idea ?

I used a wireless drivetrain but I figured it would just go the same route of the brake hose on the other side of the rear triangle.

Yes same way but there is a little eye bracket or what is it so hose goes there and it's routed better. I've connected the motor and it slightly paused that shifting hose a bit so it seems it does not touch but let's see on a ride. Maybe I will have to buy wireless later but this design is not good imo.

Hi guys, I have this frame with 230x65 rear shock which should give rear travel 190mm. I wonder if anyone is riding with 190mm fork ? Now I have 170mm but I have a feeling it's not enough. 180mm I think it would be better but not sure about 190.

I run a 190 Zeb. I'm not exactly surely what the rear travel is but I thought it was a bit under 190. It definitely feels like a DH bike. Mine is also mulleted so my head angle is 60.5. I guess it all depends on where you're riding.

Thanks for reply. Yes 230x65 gives close to 190 travel. I ride mostly single trails. I have 170 fox factory 38 but I'm not satisfied with performance. Is not as plush I'd like. It's pretty stiff. So with your mullet setup you have even more aggressive geometry with that fork. If it works for you I think it should be fine. I've checked specs and axle to crown for zeb 190 is 606mm while 180 596mm. E82 official geometry is 590 so I guess 180 is sweet spot and 190 could still work just fine. Found a good price for zeb ultimate 190 so thinking about it.

Need help for some questions before I put in order.
1. Does size M(17") fit 171cm person?
2. Where I can buy the battery case?( I have some 18650 cells and bms )
3. Do you buy it from Aliexpress(Denfu) or dengfubike.com or Changzhou Fieldebikes Co., Ltd on Alibaba?
cheers

I am 172 cm tall, my wife is 165 cm and size M is perfect for us. Even my son, who is under 150 cm tall, can handle this frame size, but sometimes he has trouble starting uphill in mountains :) My both frames and batteries are from Dengfu - check Mia OY or Ella Dengfu on Facebook.

I got my empty battery case from Fieldebikes, they tend to be pretty reliable so I'd just get all your stuff from the build from them to make things easier. They carry the frame/motors/battery case/etc.

hi there,
i want to use coil shock in e82, could you ,please, tell me what is your spring stiffness/ weight/ shock dimenshion (230/60 210/50 or else)? i think i would be very instractive for anyone trying to fit the coil shock, thanks in advance

i used a coil on my build, it is documented in here as well

i used tf tuned coil calculator to find the right coil, and ordered that + one size softer

i aimed at 28% sag and thats what i got in the end
