• Warning!!

Riding a tuned or deristricted EMTB is not a trivial offence and can have serious legal consequences. Also, many manufacturers can detect the use of a tuning device or deristricting method and may decline a repair under warranty if it was modified from the intended original specification. Deristricting EMTB's can also add increased loads for motors and batteries. Riding above the local law limit may reclassify the bike as a low-powered bike, requiring insurance, registration and a number plate.

Be aware of your local country laws. Many laws prohibit use of modified EMTB's. It is your responsibility to check local laws. Ignoring it, has potential implications to trail access, and risk of prosecution in the event of an accident.

What worked for me:
App version : v1.3.30 on android
1.Install the latest firmvare update
2.Erase all data
3.Unpair your App
4.Uninstall the App
5. Change the region to US with NordVpn - FakeGPS not needed, Changin region to New Zealand didnt work for me
6. Download the App again
7.Pair the App with the bike
8. You should be able to select 3 different speed limits in the settings now: 25km/h,32 km/h,45km/h.
9.Have fun and enjoy but drive safely

ONLY on iOS:
After several tests with and without location services enabled (it doesn't matter), it's not necessary to remove the chip from the bike.
All you need to do is:

1- Open your preferred VPN app. Connect to a USA VPN server (with which you can select a speed of up to 28 mph on the bike's control panel every time you turn it on) or, if you prefer, a Hong Kong VPN server (and set the fixed speed limit to 28 mph always on).

2- Unpair the bike in the AVINOX RIDE app.

3- On your phone, forget the device (AVINOXxxxxx) in Bluetooth settings.

4- On the bike, select "pair with Avinox app" and scan the QR code with the AVINOX RIDE app.

5- THAT'S IT.

If this doesn't work, it's due to the VPN app; try a different one.

I don’t know what I’ve done wrong - tried with a couple of different vpn’s, but didn’t work - I can’t pair at all now even without vpn 🤷‍♂️
Have you tried restarting your phone or reinstalling the app?
Turn off your WiFi, use VPN.lat and maybe a Fake GPS app

What do you do after when you turn off the VPN?
Can you still use the app as previous?
If i had meddled with my speed limit, which obviously i haven't.. i would turn off wifi, mobile signal and location services when using the app to adjust settings as a precaution.
I wouldn't use any of the ride logging or security stuff as i have no interest in that anyway.

Is there any country setting, or any other way, to make it possible to set the speed limit to 45 km/h (28 mph), while ensuring that after turning the system off and on again, the default speed limit is reset to 25 km/h (15 mph)?

Yes
I did in M2S by New Zeland, with VPN + GPS fake, both at NZ
With Android, and it worked fine
Confirmed this works with Avinox Ride v1.3.30 via a private VPN server in Aukland and GPS Spoofing App.

Initially failed as I went too far with app isolation and various other SSID, MCC and related precautions but fine after unpairing the bike and factory resetting the phone .

Strangely, Avinox Ride shows the bike's true location on the main screen - suspect this is found from the bike's internal GPS.

Does anyone know if the sim card (e.g. that included with PX Pro, M2S) being installed after VPN pairing causes the Avinox system to dynamically update restrictions based on current location?

I am wondering if the paired country persists indefinitely if the sim card is installed after the VPN pairing.

Can someone measure the center-to-center distance between the two mounting points?

This is exactly what I asked AI about (using a SIM card for security reasons), and I was advised not to use a SIM. Because sooner or later the gentlemen from Avinox could remotely lock it for me (limit 45km/h). So I hid the SIM card in a drawer and I don't download any more updates and I enter the application with data turned off. It's not worth it to me.

This mirrors my approach, no SIM installed, no firmware updates and I download any new Avinox Ride App files from Avinox Drive System - Downloads - Avinox on a regular basis to ensure I have the original installers.

I need the bike unlocked for (health related) reasons, to be able to reach any trails (no car). I'm not ripping around terrorising others once I reach the get there and I'll be damned if this one final enjoyment gets taken away.

Only thing that could screw things up, I think, would be a forced firmware update during bike shop maintenance or a failure that requires new motor purchase for one that has the latest (potentially more restrictive) firmware.

I've tried changing the region to HK and I've selected it in the app but cant find the speed limit menu on the bike.
Some help please?

I believe... HK sets a global limit.
Only USA has speed options.

yeah but I seem to have only 27kmh tops.
Something’s wrong then. You set the location for HK, but didn’t work. I have my bike with HK location set and the top speed is 45 km/h, no speed selection in menu though.
Try again…
