• Warning!!

Riding a tuned or deristricted EMTB is not a trivial offence and can have serious legal consequences. Also, many manufacturers can detect the use of a tuning device or deristricting method and may decline a repair under warranty if it was modified from the intended original specification. Deristricting EMTB's can also add increased loads for motors and batteries. Riding above the local law limit may reclassify the bike as a low-powered bike, requiring insurance, registration and a number plate.

Be aware of your local country laws. Many laws prohibit use of modified EMTB's. It is your responsibility to check local laws. Ignoring it, has potential implications to trail access, and risk of prosecution in the event of an accident.

Guess it wont take long for DJI to plug that with a firmware patch.

I also wonder about changing wheel size to 27.5 in the app when you are running 29er. This should in theory increase max speed?

Hi Gigs! Regarding your idea, you can set the wheel diameter to 27.5 inches in the APP but use a 29-inch rear wheel to get a bit more speed. But, because the assist algorithm, riding distance, and speed are all connected, we recommend setting the wheel diameter in the APP to match the real wheel size for the best ride.

Getting mixed reports. Some people say this works others say it doesn’t. Can anyone confirm one way or the other?

So in a country like NZ where there are no legal restrictions we tend to get bikes that are set to the "normal" restrictions of 32km/h.
When I got my Shimano equipped bike it had been set to a max of 45km/h by a Shimano rep.
What would the theoretical max speed cutoff be for an Amflow/DJI in New Zealand?

I would not expect DJI to block this. I said in the other thread DJI usually leave some backdoors for things like this, they always have on their drones.

Compared to Bosch and others DJI will be more likely to throw a blind eye around restrictions.

It will be one way they get more people onboard unofficially.

I wish the others would do the same.

I have to say this is one element of the AMFLOW I'm incredibly jealous of. DJI have always generaly left back doors to get around overly restrictive regulations.

Just incase peeps are not reading the title and section. This thread about de-restricting the Dji avinox motor. As someone who always de-restricts, I find these threads really helpful. Cluttering with completely off-topic chatter makes the information really hard to find.

Thanks to johno1 for the required information. (y)

I don't know the numbers.

And you don’t need to. It’s self evidently a terrible commercial decision. And Bosch is a commercial company. Therefore I doubt the update exists.

Latest update has closed the back door. No more derestricting through the control panel.
Hmm I'm surprised at this, I would put money on a workaround will come.

As I said DJI usually leave a back door.

Let's hope so, at the moment I'm regretting updating the software.

I've now pulled the sim card and turned off BT incase of further restrictions.

Commercial decisions cannot be made without knowing the numbers. What you really mean is that for personal reasons you want Bosch to change their minds. Good luck with that.

hello and greets from Germany, since the latest firmware update, I have the feeling that my amflow is cutting off 1 km earlier then before. might be just my feeling... my wahoo shows 23.9 km/h and the amflow shows 25.something. Anyone else facing this issue?

There is a work around for people who still want to ride on private land with the new software!
would be interesting for me, since my house is next to a large forest. maybe you could send me a hint as pm?

hi,
i also need a workaround to set the region code, or to get the old software version, thanks.

Does it works only with Android? No iPhone with vpn?
Can't see any reason it shouldn't work with iPhone a VPN is VPN.
Noticed he used NordVPN but should work with any VPN.

I have an android., so can't say.

Rode my Amflow derestricted for the first time today, and it was wonderful. So nice, and fun. At about 30 mph now, before I run out of gearing, but pedal fast on a flat, and I can get to 32+. ITs perfect.

Thanks again, astro66! I love New Zealand.

On behalf of all of NZ - you’re welcome.

Works fine with iPhone……not sure if having a SIM in the bike makes a difference as I don’t have one.
