Did I do spoilers? Sorry Zim. Although if you spent less time touring the local bars... 😅
Don't worry, you (and everyone) was great, no spoilers ! Made for good viewing.

It's ok, I've finally won the T-Shirt so my competitive drinking can come to an end... (Or maybe a pause)

Caught a bit of Wyn tv, among the platitudes, Tahnee was fabulous, acknowledging explicitly that Gracey had her beaten hands down until the final corner. Super classy athlete.

yes saw that too ,agree and looking good in the aero suit

Incidentally, it looks very much like Gracey got a touch offline & put in a big input to avoid hitting the very last tree on track, causing the rear to overtake the front. Fine margins.

It actually looks like (well to me) that she hit that pad on the left hand side and it pushed her body to the right and losing the rear. Very unlucky, very similar to Dak in the world champs last year.

We might find out but Cathro did an analysis on it & reckons that by the last woods, fatigue is a major factor & there are a series of holes just before the exit that are impossible to avoid. He reckons she hit one & got out of shape. I've played the video on slow mo & don't think she hits the pad, more a last ditch attempt to get back on line, you can see she turns hard right before the pad. To me it looks like a big input while the bike is already going sideways & from there she's cooked.

Yea, I'm basing mine off the fact she makes an audible sound when she hits the pad. Eitther way, she was on one and will only make her stronger for later in the season.

7 weeks till the next race *twiddles thumbs*

SInce we've got a few weeks of thumb twiddling until the next race, I thought some of you might be interested to see who I keep coming up against while chasing around after the trail trophies. He's on a good few of the top tens round here.

Hah, since Matthew Fairbrother got an ebike earlier this year he has slayed so many KOM's on the ups and downs. The boy is soooo fit, I have no chance. Could probably out climb me on his enduro bike 😔

So...as we await the next round, who will actually be watching Hardline?
It's such a different vibe to the WC - riders working out and riding together, doing track walks that are only half-serious.
Freeriders turning up to add an element of mayhem to proceedings.
I love it - dare I say it? I think Hardline is more entertaining than the WC DH circuit. I think a lot of that is the lack of all-out competitiveness at these events. It's one thing to want to win it - quite another to be completely zoned out and focussed on the win, to keep your seat for the next season.

I'm the exact opposite.. I'm not interested in it in the slightest. WC DH is the Formula one of MTB, Hardline doesn't even have a single top 20 rider competing. No surprises to say I don't bother watching it but I wake up at 2am on a Monday morning to watch the world cup haha. I never watched Rampage either which is a bit more freeride..

Different strokes for different folks and all that..

WC DH is intense, that and Formula One are my top two.

There is a context to it if you follow the world cups. To the casual watcher, it's a mad race, world cup fans see it's a high risk invitational with no qualifying & a very mixed field. OTOH it is somewhere between a world cup race & a free ride event, so not necessarily directly comparable.

This year has Lou Ferguson, Ronan & Laurie riding, so there are some top level DH riders involved but I also reckon there is pressure from teams & sponsors who've sunk $$$$$ into their seasons to keep riders away from it. I suppose the most noticeable absence is Jesus Goldballs. I would bet my house Santa Cruz kiboshed it, pointing out he's in the mix for the overall & Hardline cost them a year of his services.

Yeah, I reckon that's exactly why he isn't at this one! They should have sent Peaty in his place 👀

Either way, it would have been a very easy choice not just for him but a lot of others as well. That's why there are so few top riders competing. Lets not forget that the biggest race of the year, the world champs in Champery are in 6 weeks as well.

If you think a 21 year old dh lord isn't frothing at the mouth to race a world renowned course for money & glory that he would do for free for the asking, then I have a bridge to sell you. If he ain't there, it's team orders all day long :)

Haha I'm not going to debate who made the choice as I don't really care. The "money and glory" mean absolutely zero compared to a world championship or overall series win IMHO.

There are many other Top WC riders that would be there if their Teams / Sponsors allowed them. Loic has talked about it in the past.

I believe it also has viewing figures well in excess of those seen at a WC. So you can see why it appeals to both riders and some sponsors.

That is because it is free! Like DH coverage used to be under RedBull. And it is still coverage of athletes pushing the envelope which always seems to draw a crowd.
