My seatpost was dead (no light and no response to the paddle) when I put a fully charged battery on it today.
As it's older than 2 years I thought I'd have a nosy inside.
I kept the battery attached, removed the 4 rubber bungs either side of the battery with a jeweller's screwdriver and then began to remove the 4 screws with a T6 torx. As I was doing this, the seatpost came to life, so whether I'd dislodged some crud or not I don't know but it's still working and I was also able to update its firmware afterwards.
Hopefully this might be of use to someone one day!

I had a similar thing with my AXS, although mine was 9 month old with less than 300 miles on it.
Put it into it's storage location with a fully charged and working battery.

Took it out the next day and nothing. No lights on the post and no movement.
Tried wiggling and replacing the battery, nothing.

As it was in warranty I didn't do anything further and it went back to Giant. They reported it was dead and replaced the whole thing under warranty, although it took 2 months to turn up!

Will try your method should it happen again, especially if it is out of warranty.
