• Warning!!

Riding a tuned or deristricted EMTB is not a trivial offence and can have serious legal consequences. Also, many manufacturers can detect the use of a tuning device or deristricting method and may decline a repair under warranty if it was modified from the intended original specification. Deristricting EMTB's can also add increased loads for motors and batteries. Riding above the local law limit may reclassify the bike as a low-powered bike, requiring insurance, registration and a number plate.

Be aware of your local country laws. Many laws prohibit use of modified EMTB's. It is your responsibility to check local laws. Ignoring it, has potential implications to trail access, and risk of prosecution in the event of an accident.

Having ordered a bike with a Bafang M510 (FC2.0 - Vitus E-Mythique with custom firmware) , which comes with either a DP C244 or a DPC245(bluetooth), I'm trying to work out the advantages/disadvantages and just the differences between the different apps. Edit : Comes with a DP C244 (August 23).

Like, what's the difference between Besst and Besst Pro. Presumably you need the same Besst box to connect to the bike with either ?

The difference between Go and Go Plus ? (I think you need an IOT box on the bike or bluetooth to use either of these ?)

There's also @Dado's K1 Flash and K1 Blackbox3. The flash box you connect temporarily and make updates by editing a file on an SD card, the Blackbox you can connect temporarily or permanently and use a phone with a USB connection and a terminal to make command line changes.

For firmware updates - does the besst tool or Go ? let you update the motor, the display, the battery ?? The Flash and the blackbox - just the motor ??

Edit : Attached Besst Pro Manual.

As far as I can tell, there are several versions of the physical "Besst tool" .. but the latest one seems to do most of the motors (M series motors using the CAN protocol). This costs about $100.

You then need the Besst (Windows) or Best Pro software (Windows/Mac) and then a user ID to access these (several threads already here on that).

Pro lets you do lots more and configure more and re-calibrate the motor and so on.
