Cube stereo hybrid 160 750 brakes spongey

Only had the bike a week was pdi by bike shop before sent out to me but brakes are terrible is this because they are new ? Need time to bed in ? I got a bleed kit delivered and followed destructions etc syringe at calliper and funnel on brake lever etc but no bubbles came through ? I’ve adjusted some little Allen key screw all the way in as well but you still gotta move lever around a 1” before they bite

Are they spongey, or just have a lot of movement on the levers before they operate?

Mine has adjustment which alters how much freeplay I have in the levers before they start to operate It’s just a small Allen bolt tucked away on the lever, have you got similar?

I'm sure an adult will be along soon who will have a better idea than me.
