Avinox SRAM AXS Motor power Cable (M1/M2 Variants)

So, both my cables have turned up. Impressed with how quickly the light cable with the Z405 connector turned up from Germany. Love German efficiency ....... :ROFLMAO:

So I'm not going to join them till the M2S motor turns up in Mid May, because I first want to ensure I get 12VDC on the red and black wire, when I plug the light cable into the motors Extension Port A.

I will post results.

Oh BTW. If anyone in Sydney gets their hands on a M2S motored bike before I get mine, and want to fit the AXS derailleur but don't have a cable. I am more than happy to do this test on your motor. I can bring my AXS derailleur and pod, and do a full test. I have tested this new derailleur and pod on my Amflow, and Smoothshift worked perfect.

If it all works correctly. You will know exactly what to order, and how to make the modifications.

I cut the Higo A from the SRAM cable and mine has a blue and black cable inside.
I did measure it: blue is positive and black is negative. To mesure the positive you need to connect a battery as someting inside the adapter needs current to wake it up, I did use a 9v rectangular battery to test the polarity.

Now we need the pin out of the motor to be 100% sure.

Talking with Propain USA they do not have the power cables yet and the amount they do receive will be limited. I'm tempted to just order two cables to make one.

When I get my M2S motor, I can plug the Z405 light cable into the motor, as it just has bare ends on the other side. I will locate the 12V+ve and -ve. I am assuming red is +ve and black -ve. But I will check. Just cannot do it without the motor.

Yep. The SRAM cable accepts 8-48V and outputs 7.4V. So you can test the AXS cable and your derailleur with a 9V battery.

I will also perform the same test. This will confirm both ends of both cables.

I have the new z405 cable that came with my Crestline that has the new M2s motor.

Long story, but I ended up breaking the connector so now I’m stuck.

If I can get the light cable and then splice it, it should work.

Does the red go to red and black to black, with yellow and green unused?

Is anyone interested in files for 3D-print?
I am working on something right now, adapting a design from another thread on this forum. I could include a complete BOM and instructions so you don't even need to buy a SRAM power cable as donor.

I don’t have a 3d printer but I’d love to buy the part off of you!

Pinout of light cable. As expected only red and black used.

Just got to find positive and negative on the Old power cable.

Hmmm ! Only just spotted this (how did I not read it properly?)
So, on the controller out cable
Red=Neg
Yellow= Pos
Who came up with that colour coding ???

Have you managed to check which wires the Pos and Neg are when this wire is plugged into the engine aux. power out ?

Cheers

Hmmm !
I can only see three wires - Red, Black, Blue !
Is there a 4th colour ?
Blue not in the original set of colours that I saw ?!?
Definitely have to meter things to see what is happening - I wait with bated breath.

This thread has more hype than the new m2 and m2s motors themselves. It's unbelievable that this cable is harder to get (even DIYing it) than buying the m2 or m2s motor.

Note: I'm going crazy trying to get this cable. I upgraded to SRAM GX but need the cable for the m2s 🫠

I get a light cable on Wednesday from Germany. I'll document the process and report back. My intent is to splice red=red, black=black with yellow and green used. In theory, it should work.

I managed to get 2 Lichtkabel via a friend in Germany.

I just metered them to see what this suppliers cable colour coding is ... (Hint: It is wired to the physical layout of the cable!)

Four Colours : YEL, RED, GRN, BLK

Wonder how other 3rd party cables are wired 🤔

Right, but the AXS power cable only has red (pos) and black (neg), so I imagine yellow and green go unused.

See this post: https://www.emtbforums.com/threads/avinox-sram-axs-motor-power-cable.42944/post-677082

Well in my case : The colour coding in that post is correct.

Higo-Cable >>>>> SRAM Cable
YEL >>>> RED
RED >>>> BLK
other colours (GRN+BLK) unused.

YCMV !
Interesting. Actually that's what the post seems to indicate too.

Yes - If you get a cable from that German company they have correctly stated their wiring pattern.
I have seen another company selling 2 wire cables and hopefully they will be correctly colour coded (best to check though!)
If you get a cable with different colours or from elsewhere, then meter it.
I got the 4 wire version in case of any future accessories using CAN Bus (the extra 2 wires) though how to tell which is Can-Hi/Low is anyone's guess at the moment !

Just be aware guys. The colours are not so important. What's important is the 12VDC+ve and 12VDC-ve. So we'll need to put a multimeter on the light cable wires whilst connected to the M2S motor. Just don't let the wires touch each other and it will be fine.

Work out which is the Data pair. Then which is the 12VDC pair. Once you know which is the 12VDC pair, you just need to get the polarity.

Now from what I am reading. It appears, Yellow is 12VDC+ve. Red is 12VDC-ve. But we need this confirmed with a multimeter.

Yes, better safe than sorry.
Colours will vary depending on who made the adapter cable. Checking exactly what colour is attached to the 2 pins defined by SRAM is a must if you have not bought from a supplier that specifies their wiring scheme.
"Red to red" would simply not work for my cable.
If the cable only has 2 wires and they are black and red, then maybe ...

Well ......... what do you know. Ebike24, where I bought my light cable, just put out a video on how to connect the light cable. And on my cable, The red wire is 12V+ve and the black wire is the 12V-ve. Once again I'll check this. But be aware.

Thanks - The EBIKE24 Cable is different to the NanoBike.de version that I have.

Nice of them to post a How2
👍
Yes I should have realised my wire colours were different to yours. I have a blue wire, where you have yellow.

ffs, apparently there are different styles of axs power cables

DONT GET THE BOSCH ONE

the axs side is way higher, don’t think that one was designed for transmission gx

You'll have to do some example, or comparison photos, as the ones online appear to be all the same stock shots !!!

EBIKE24 are doing a full selection of cables now including SRAM Avinox though it's still only HIGO A !

Shame they won't post to the UK unless you order over €200
