Avinox launch 1500w M2S motor and cheaper M2 motor

You’re 100% right on the legal access, and that's the winning argument for now. But you’ve got to admit, we are sliding down a slippery slope here when the emtbs brand keep gain moore power.

Look at the new DJI Avinox M2S—it’s pumping out 1,500W of peak power and 150Nm of torque. For context, a Surron Light Bee X starts at 3,000W of rated power. If eMTB manufacturers keep pushing the limits in this power arms race, the gap between an eMTB and a Surron is going to vanish.

For me the new avinox motor are not a emtb motor , i already rate it as a emoto.
WHAT !!!
M2S: rated power 250W
Surron starter model: rated power 3000W
Therefore M2S is an eMoto !!!

Why buy a bike with the Avinox M2S motor when you can buy a stark for the same money?

All the new bikes with the M2S motor are insanely expensive.

What? There's actually a bunch of very reasonably priced (€4,500-€7,500 RRP) bikes with the Avinox. If anything it's brought prices down. I'm not an Avinox cheerleader by any means but this will definitely benefit the consumer if it forces other brands to match or do better on prices.

It's not really a slippery slope. Nobody would want an Avinox m3s if it weighed more but had more power. Almost every customer they have is probably tuning it down from its max. They're already pushing the limits of what you can have in the size/weight and with the same bicycle components like drive train/wheels.

I'd be very much surprised if anyone comes out with anything significantly more powerful than the m2s.

Also, the Surron Light Bee X is 6000W peak, vs the Avinox 1500w peak. So 4 times more powerful. Not exactly a small difference.

Well, thankfully the authorities in Australia, Asia and Europe don't rate a pedelec, limited to 25kph, with a 250 watt rated motor, and without a throttle, as an E-Moto. They read the rules and rate it as a EN15194 compliant EMTB.

And people continually calling an EN15194 compliant EMTB, an E-Moto. Would see every compliant EMTB banned. But lets not start down this path, in yet another thread.

As long as their rated power remains at 250 watts. There is no slippery slope. Peak power only helps your climbing ability, when you are limited to 25kph. Which is the entire point of the Avinox Motor system. It's literally what every reviewer has commented. It allows you to climb technical slopes, that previous EMTBs could not. And this has 100% been my experience with the Avinox Motor System. I have an M1 and a M2S.

The Avinox M1 on a trail bike, is the best climbing bike I have ever experienced. My M2S is on a big travel burlier Enduro. So it downhills better. But doesn't climb as well.

I'm addition to the power the Avinox allows anyone to turn their bike up to 28mph.

That's in the US. Not Europe, Asia or Australia. The person I was replying to, was in Sweden. Hence my comment that him seeing the Avinox Motor system as an E-Moto, was unfounded.

A New Zealand forum member and I bought the identical Merida E160 several years ago. Mine was EN15194 Compliant. His was made Non-compliant, due to local NZ regulations. This doesn't suddenly make every Merida E160 worldwide an E-Moto. And people promoting this philosophy that it does, will get all compliant EMTBs outlawed. Hence my fierce opposition to this philosophy being promoted.

Sigh...:sneaky: and herein lies the problem. One - The M2S does not have a throttle. Two - it's governed/restricted to ..... what is your location. Yes, you can VPN yourself to NZ or Hong Kong and increase the speed a bit. But you cannot unlock the full power and get it up to 60kph. Just not possible. My understanding of the "emoto's" is that they behave like motorbikes. Throttle and significanlty greater speed.

The amount of power is not the issue. As has been clearly demonstrated by many on various channels, the power and peak power is best used to climb or get up stuff. You can't overtake a speeding bullet unless you can pedal really really fast...

As long as Avinox or any other manufacturer retains the ability to restrict or govern the motor to either a power level or speed, then it is okay. What is not okay is the misinformation people are running with and the fear mongering.... Rant over.

That is complete bullshit. You're completely misunderstanding why people are hyped about the Avinox. NO body buy a avinox beacause of the low weight , you have a lot of others bikes that have the same weight.

People is buying it beacause of the power thats it . The hype is the power .

Things are never black and white. There are absolutely people out there buying Avinox bikes because it's one of the lighter full power systems out there. People like the Avinox because it covers many of the things people ask for. Lighter weight, good integration/looks and lots of power.

Nope, not everyone. On my second Avinox. Many many reasons I’d go Avinox over everything else right now. Make the power levels the exact same I’ll still choose it. It’s you guys with no clue that keep saying it’s all about power. It just also so happens to have more power which I also enjoy.

Come on, who are you trying to convince?
You claim that if you made the power levels the exact same as other motors, you’d still choose the Avinox. That is a completely hollow hypothetical because the entire system of the Avinox is built around handling and delivering that power.

is like buying a Ferrari and saying, 'I bought it for the comfortable seats and the nice dashboard screen, it just also happens to go 200 mph which I enjoy.'

Yup. I’m in auto almost always as is. I’d wager most Avinox owners are tuned down. That’s not to say I don’t want all it has because I absolutely do. But I guess you know me more than I do so…

LOL
I'm into Avinox because it can be ultimate bike for making epic enduro trips
- fast charging with compact charger, less of range anxiety
- smart system with powerful walk assist, auto-hold and fully customizable assist modes
- it's just 0.6kg more than SX/Fazua motors
- the 700Wh battery is comparable in weight as OG 500Wh
So it's more towards the SL bike just with bigger battery than it is towards the full powered bike IMO while still being more powerful.

I'll still keep my Levo gen2 165/170mm 24kg for local shredding with swappable battery.
But also I can have 20kg Avinox bike without range anxiety for making longer trips. Which is something I cannot have with SL bikes based on Fazua. On Bosch SX maybe, but still the batteries are smaller and fast charging is yet to come in 2026/7

I'm also one of the guys who doesn't ride in turbo all the time. I have auto set to 85nm and 700 watts with minimal overrun. It's more than enough power to clear any reasonable climb. I love the 28mph option when riding on the street to the trail.

I love the new Ibis Oso but I refuse to go back to Bosch. They built a bike that can swap between 29 and 27.5 but Bosch makes you go to a shop to change it. Avinox let's you do it yourself. There's really no comparison when it comes to tuning.

The Ferrari analogy is weak. Most Ferrari owners buy them for status and never drive them fast. My Tesla does 0-60mph in 3.5 seconds and tops out at 155mph, but I don't turn every stoplight into a drag strip or weave in and out of traffic at 100mph. Just because it has the power doesn't mean you use it all the time.

I can just tell you that I'd have still bought the Avinox if it was the same power as the Bosch or Levo. The tech features, silence, and power delivery fidelity are what sold me. I didn't even put it in turbo when I test rode it.

This, this is why I hate the Shimano ecosystem. They do the same thing but probably even worse.

Thanks for that. I've got a Dreadie inbound and am collating what people have set auto to. I really don't see myself riding any of the other settings unless I really need to conserve battery. Hoping to find the sweet spot with regard to the settings. I am no longer a young fella, and have dodgy knees. My knee surgeon wants me to to polish and not punish. High cadence, low resistance is ideal. So happy to spin and get a workout when on the flats, slight ups and downs, but no destroying myself on the climbing by grinding my way up...hence the ebike trying to find the right settings for the up...
