2026 Santa Cruz Bullit

Massive deal breaker and lots of owners were waiting on a larger battery on the previous gen Bullit. It never happened and now SC are forcing you a 600wh again. The Bosch update is going to make that 600wh even smaller.

You know SC are facing a lot of questions & comments regarding that when they feel the need to justify their battery decision in all of their marketing and reviews videos.

Competitors are offering bikes with 800wh with equivalent weight or less (Forbidden, Unno) or bikes with a very flexible approach on the battery side (Levo G4) to make everyone happy.

Otherwise it's a killer bike for those who are fine with the small battery & forced range extender for bigger days.
I want a water bottle if I'm going on a big day.
I sort of get it, if you are ultra fit and happy to ride Eco all day, or super lazy and you want to do a small ride in boost.
I'm in the middle, want to do big days with full fat assistance, so it doesn't work for me.
If you're in the ultra fit category then you should consider the PinkBike winner Trek Slash+ as a serious competitor.

I'm sure the 4-link suspension is more effective and offers a nice upgrade over the VPP. But that VPP frame just looks so much cooler to me. The Santa Cruz look to me has been the VPP.

The Bosch system is a nice upgrade over the Shimano but I'm curious about the long-term reliability and efficiency with the 100nm+ update. Bosch being Bosch it probably fine but still, I'm curious.

Overall it looks like a solid bike but I'm not sad about getting a really good deal on a 2024 new bullit recently either.

This is precisely what I don't like about Spesh, especially if they're giving you a 'discounted' price but when you check the price of the same frame they are offering, albeit in the US market, it's discounted at 55%!
Yeah, the “lifetime warranty” of frame is what I am questioning about. Santa Cruz would of replaced frame the first week without batting an eye like they have in the past for me

Does anyone know what the exact bike weight for Bullit X0 AXS RSV is without pedals?

I really like the way it looks, especially that new blue, but admittedly it’s much more bike than my riding style is suited for. I’m squarely in the Vala’s intended riding type with mostly doing tight rolling single track keeping my wheels on the ground much more of the time than the intended Bullit rider 😂.

If the HA was adjustable it would help make it a little more trail friendly, but I feel I’d be putting the square peg in the round hole with the Bullit for most of my riding. I’ll just have to hope next year’s Vala has some better color options because I’m not very interested in the current ones, but like the rest of the spec of both bikes.
My thoughts as well and I still like to push the ride on DH’s zesty still at a ripe 52yrs old. If doing Enduro DH, especially high speed open stuff like the looks of terrain in SoCal, imagine the Bullit excellent. I am in PNW, and ride a lot of mixed, tight, not always super fast terrain, so bike needs to be maneuveable side to side especially and be able to take some hits and senders. Vala looks good for that. Seems like old Bullit geo very close to Vala, whereas new Bullit is taking things up a notch and likely great at Bike Parks

My meager skills don't require a Bullit but I would rather have the extra travel if I can to speed on my rocky trails. Being an e bike, there is almost no downside.

Extra travel usually always a good thing, especially on ebike and in rougher terrain. Shorter travel typically just a bit more responsive and sportier is all. Strong brakes, DH tires and travel all nice on these heavy bikes, that ride fairly light if geo is right

Gutted. It had been said many times, but 600Wh built in is a deal breaker for a bike intended to self shuttle DH.
Why get excited about the Bosch power upgrade, gonna have to ride this in Eco...
While I loved the Vala I demoed (best e-bike I've ridden to date), knowing that the Unno and Forbidden ebikes with DJI Avinox system will all be under 50lbs with 800Wh batteries makes it hard for me to look at the Vala or Bullit, even though I'm a long-time Santa Cruz fan.

People with the Vala riding with amflows find that the two last pretty much the same amount of time, the Bosch is one of the most efficient motors out there. It’s also one of the most natural and intuitive so it depends what you want. It’s not as simple as using just power as a differentiator.

I learned my lesson buying the first revision of the fazua ride 60. I will never buy a gen 1 of a drive unit ever again... I'll let new drive units mature to a minimum of gen 3 before I consider buying them. I will admit that DJI has the mindset of a tech company, so they will revise/update quickly... but I wouldn't touch gen 1 or gen 2 of that hardware with a 10' pole.

I was deciding between the Mith and Bullit but I have demoed the Vala and loved it! Note: I have a Levo Pro Gen3 and Sworks KSL, both on Push 11/6, but still loved a Vala entry level over these 2 when it comes to ride feel (weird eh!). The Mith looks stunning no doubt but I know the Bullit will ride as good and ride feel to me is more > looks.

Yep, legendary. I have had my Nomad 2 and Megatower v1 replaced with the succeeding version without too many back and forth and that is the biggest draw for me.

I agree and I’m not interested in the DJI’s power. I only mentioned the battery size (range) and weight (handling) being important to me because I’m 240-250lbs geared up and like to do long rides in Eco/Tour/eMTB modes and like to not worry about range. I like getting exercise and putting in some effort so I never touch Turbo.

I’m definitely interested in seeing range tests with the same rider and same route, as I wouldn’t be surprised if Bosch was the most efficient. That said, anecdotes about multiple different riders on different bikes getting similar range across Bosch and DJI have too many uncontrolled variables to draw anything definitive from.

I feel that the only people who may have an issue with battery size are those riding the XL bike. Ie heavier riders. Maybe batteries should be size specific just like chain stays.

I think it also depends on how you ride. I have an Amflow and a Crestline, both with around 800Wh batteries. I ride XL bikes and am 100kg kitted up.
I never get close to draining the battery, because I ride chunky DH trails down the hill with technical ascents and my body gives up before the battery, and I ride almost entirely on turbo. If however you’re riding over hill and dale and like touring, then I can see it would be a problem.

But this is stated as a DH uplift bike. IMO range is less important here than handling.

Well it’s all been announced on Santacruz’ instagram etc, same price as the Vala (for the UK at least) which is a nice surprise

I think range is very important for the DH uplift bike. If I'm uplifting instead of sitting on a bus I want to be able to ride in turbo/EMTB all day and get as many runs as I would if I was getting the bus, if not more.

I'm totally happy with a 600Wh battery but I need to be able to get back to the van and quickly change the battery and get the the flat one on charge. I can quite happily go through 2-3 batteries through the day.

It's a shame manufacturer's aren't catering for us who want to use an ebike to it's full potential, I would have bought the Bullit if they just made the battery removable.

Range extender and a charge using fast charger at lunch will get you the equivalent of 2 batteries if that’s not enough then get two range extenders. Be a lot cheaper than buying 2 additional batteries.
