Took delivery of a new 2026 Heckler SL today. My first EMTB, but not my first MTB nor first eBike. As a household we have three MiRiDERs, a 16, 20 and 24. All of them noisy and clunky things, and I fancied treating myself to something a bit higher end. The Heckler SL ticked all the boxes due to it's circa 20kg light weight and natural feeling ride. I was aware after doing research about the earlier model issues with motor and controller and the fact that Fazua are no more. But the 2026 bike still ticked all the boxes.

Went out today for a 15 mile ride. Effortless and fun. I'm so used to "Ghosting" on an ebike due to my MiRiDER experiences. On the Heckler I think I only used gears 9-12. At 20kg I still found it a heavy bike, and certainly wouldnt want to go any heavier than this. I have a Santa Cruz Chameleon which in comparison feels feather light.

A pleasant surprise to find this 2026 model has the new "mode controller". I only noticed the button at the bottom after i got home from the ride, that you can push for a boost. Also after plugging in to update the firmware I discovered it's up to date right out the box, Plus it now comes with the 480WH battery. I'm hoping that all the earlier model niggles have been sorted and this final batch of production bikes will give me years of worry free enjoyment.

I test rode a Heckler SL last year and thought it was a great bike to ride. The Fazua motor issues at the time were a no-no for me, but let's hope the latest version with the new battery remain reliable for you. It's a great bike, enjoy it! (y)
