@Rob Rides EMTB - did you add any volume spacers to the X2 shock? The stock X2 Performance that comes with Strive:ON has an "E-MTB" tune sticker on it, so I presume it might have some volume spacers pre-installed.
I'm wondering if I should add volume spacers to the X2 I've installed; after initial tests, I see I'm using quite a lot of travel, even on moderate trails.

I am using whatever is stock, i didnt check whats inside it yet.

BUT - I am on the OEM shock, not the X2 that I had in that video (another story!)

The X2 Factory aftermarket is slightly different tune, but close to the original (I checked with FOX already).

I am totally fine wioth my rear setup at the moment, so maybe experiment with pressure / spacer if you are blowing through a lot?

I believe this is coming at some point in the future. I spoke with Bosch about this - I also found it useful on bikes that send rider power data to Garmin. It technically should be possible to do, it just needs to have the BLE protocol enabled to allow connectivity to devices.

I think that would be the icing on the cake...some real life stats would be definitely useful...especially when a lot of us already uses watches/bike computers that are able to show the stats...I also like a clean look on the bike...what is cleaner than a watch on the wrist with all you stats hope eurobike gives some insight into their plans

we are all different level of interest to those electronic thing's. Some like the clean look some are more geek and need a lot of info on their bike.

I'am on the opposite side: NO Garmin, No Watch, No app on my phone, No Strava, No Gps, No statistic.....
Just load of fun when I ride the bike.
So for me the bike is perfect as it is.

Yes. This is how it works with the Levo / Kenevo. It’s nice seeing your pedal power in watts and the bike battery percentage (and I think it even shows AXS gear too).

Ah nice. Maybe I'll hold on for that then, although part of me likes having it right in front of me without having to take a hand off the bars to look, or fish my watch out from under my sleeve in winter.

They did, but mentioned that spoke tensioning is routine maintenance anyway.

They actually seemed to really like the rims, altogether...

Rob, your video review has me ready to place an order. Just wondered if you could give a brief comparison of the ride compared to the spectral on? My focus jam2 is closer to the spectral so the more natural replacement but really want the strive and the Bosch motor.

Seems the strive is more capable on the downs, can it be as fun as the spectral on the climbs and man made trails. I often see comments saying bigger travel bikes take the fun out of trail riding. Is this true with the strive or does it just do everything well?

Sure Rob can say it better, but in the end it's not like there are worlds between the spectral and the strive. I can tell you the strive climbs absolutely perfect in my eyes, maybe it's that steep seat tube and the moderate chain stays. I also think testers often have to put the spotlight on small differences of bikes that both are perfectly capable of the same things. And then one might think there is a huge difference to expect.
If you really want the closest to your current jam2, maybe the spectral will be perfect for you, but if you want Bosch go for the strive. Personally I go 90% by the looks (I like it big, oversized tubes, motocross appearance etc) and then check the geometry (I wanted a slack head tube as it makes me feel more stable downhill). With the motor support I don't really care too much about uphill capabilities. If I was into that I would maybe choose far less travel like a 120mm bike or so. I am pretty sure I'd also be happy with the torque uphill, but I liked the strive optically slightly better and same as you I preferred Bosch (although it really sucks that Bosch cannot be connected to Garmin).
The bright side is: no matter which one you chose, you will get an excellent new bike soon

Having not considered a Canyon before because of the direct selling thing, I'm now very tempted by this. My concerns are sizing and motor noise. @M AP , you mentioned you are going from a Reign L to Strive M, have you got your Strive yet? Just wondered how that worked out in terms of sizing and motor noise? My current Giant is very loud although it is getting on now and has done 3000+ miles.

I'm going from a Giant Trance E+ L 2019 to (potentially) a Strive M (although like everyone else in the thread it seems I am recommended both a M and L according to Canyon at 183cm tall and 85cm inside leg).

I’m going from a Reign E+ 22 L to the Strive M so the motor was already a Yamaha PW-X3. Bosch is a little quieter going up hill but not something that makes really a difference. I’ve got the Strive:ON already and tested for a day only. So far so good. More reactive then the Giant. I feel the Giant was more forgiving but overall not that different. I feel the Strive much lighter even if it should not be that much. Yes it’s carbon vs aluminum but the difference is noticeable. For now I feel the Giant a better climber but I need more time on the Strive to have an opinion, I need to get used to the Bosch as well. I’m happy about having chosen size M on the Strive.

Canyon calculator is offering two sizes, L and XL. I am not sure which one to go because I havent had bike for reference in years.

My specs:
Height 190cm
Weight 87kg
Inseam 95cm
APE index 202cm:190cm=1.063
Torso length 68cm
Arm length 68cm

Measured RAD 85cm (calulated RAD 190x4,47=850mm)

Saddle height:
Inseam length x 0.885 gives you the distance from the centre of the bottom bracket to the upper edge of the saddle.

95cm x 0.885 = 84cm, in reality it is around 81cm.

I have ridden with 2020 XL Specialized Turbo Levo Alloy and it was too roomy and/or long for me.

Comparison of geos of Canyon Strive:ON L&XL to Turbo Levo Alloy XL and Orbea Wild XL.

Turbo Levo Alloy is totally different and Orbea Wild XL seems to fall between L and XL Strive:ON.

Hard decisions when you don’t have possibility to test ride bike and need to order it online.

Asked from Canyon and Canyon OEM Ergon SM10 EMTB saddle is size S/M in all frame sizes. Based on Ergon website instructions did measurements for my sitting bones (~135mm) and it indicates size M/L saddle.

I have read that Canyon OEM grips are not the most preferred. My hands are size 10-11 and that leans me towards little bit thicker grips.

Seems that Canyon has nicely integrated Rear Fender for new Torque:ON that can be bolted to rear frame but can’t find similar to Strive:ON?!

RockShox 300psi digital pump for shock and fork

Digital pump could be nice and useful when adjusting suspension.

I would like to move tubeless so what kind of valves I need to order to front and rear rims? Was it so that rear valve needs to be longer and front shorter?

After first rides I need to evaluate do I need higher rise bar or some other modifications for better ergonomics and fitting.

I am also intrested to change drivetrain from Shimano hyperglide to linkglide+ for longer lasting performance and durability. Linkglide is marketed to be 3x times longer lasting and weights a little bit more. Seems that Shimano hyperglide+ cassette, derailleur, shifter and chain is around 280€. Your thougths?

I used the shortest muc off tubeless valves and fitted the magnet like this: 2024 Strive:ON
The valve is still long enough to inflate the tire normally.
Don’t know if the rubber seal from muc off is necessary but I put it under the magnet.

As for swapping everything to linkglide.. the costs equal three or four hyperglide cassettes. Personally I would/will stick with hyperglide.
“Drivetrain durability is essential for high torque e-bikes and daily riders who might ride in the same gear for months or years at a time” they say, but I don’t commute with my strive eve day in the same gear.

I never use mudguards. Front I could imagine if I’d ride frequently in the mud.

Be careful when tightening the release valves back up when fitting the Fox mudguard the mudguard, they are very easy to snap as I found out. If you do snap the bolt you can usually use a torx to get it back out.

I also saw an Ozzie review of linkglide on an ebike, said if offered the choice between LG and 12 speed hyperglide he would choose linkglide in a heartbeat, I think that was on the old, heavier cassette as well

Yeah, removed the spacers, I tightened it to the torque specified but it snapped.

Luckily they have made it so you can undo the bit that's stuck in with a torx and it comes straight out. Assuming they've done this because people were snapping the bolt?

Also, make sure you tilt the fork forwards when removing the bolts, else the oil can leak out.

There’s only 40cc of oil max, no need to worry about leaning the fork.
