2024 Strive:ON

A bit of a Shit Flap update.
I have some more rubber on order (this time in black). As soon as it arrives I'll be making a new batch. Can you please let me know if you'd definitely like one so I can gauge demand.
Also I have had confirmation that it fits Medium, Large and XL frame sizes. I'm 99% sure that it'll also fit the Small frame too
Cheers

Ordered my strive yesterday, Chatted with Canyon who assured me the battery latch has been sorted..
I'm Already concerned about the X2 shock. Iv had a lot of issues with the X2...
Anyone had any problems, or changed to, Fancying a coil already ?
i'v got an ext storia i can get altered to suit, or they do a new air shock, Called the Aria, This would suit a more linear bike.
All Thoughts, Experiences welcome...

I had problems with my X2 right from day one; rebound not functioning correctly (too fast and adjusters made little difference) and sank into its sag way too easily which meant I was having to use way higher pressures to get correct sag. Contacted Silverfish and they said there’s been a bad batch from the US and mine sounds like one of those and that I should send it to them straight away under warranty and they will upgrade the internals to the 2024 spec.

It seems there’s kind of an unofficial recall on the X2 from 2021 - 2023 models and they swap out the internals for 2024 spec with no hassle. Apparently these fix all the know issues. I also asked them to fit the high speed circuit which they did at a cost of £99 so I’ve now got what is considered a factory spec model (complete with kashima shaft and factory decals). I know some people have had a direct swap out for a factory model with no cost, but it’s luck of the draw with what they have in stock. Regardless I was happy to pay the £99 for the ‘upgrade’. I’ve not ridden it on the trails yet but the setup in the garage feels like the prior issues are gone - time will tell.

Yes that sounds familiar Re the X2's reliability issues, i thought they had sorted that.

Be good to hear if you guys get the X2 shock to work with the strive.

Could anyone be so kind and tell me, of this is the correct way to fit the upper bearing, seal and plastic cap?

I‘m not 100% shure, cause the gap between the last sealing cap an the frame is so big now

(Please dont think about the spacers, have to cut the steerer tube)

From memory that gap looks too big to me but I'll check mine this evening before I go out and let you know.
Have you got the top cap bolt tight enough and is everything you took out back in the same place?

Not 100% shure about the blue seal. Hope ii got it the right way in.

And are the top and bottom bearing the same, or are they different?

it's a little strange that canyon chooses to wait so long before they release the new strive in the Usa.

Edit: i see now when i google they starting in September 2023 but when i go to canyon and choose usa as a country i cant order the strive on.

Myself i am from EU but i Wonder what canyon i waiting for.

I would not trust that at all. Companies and especially customer support have a habit of giving inaccurate information all the time.

But please let us know how it goes. I hope you get a bike where it has been sorted and maybe you can let us know in what way they fixed it.

I'm bang on 6ft & went with the medium, fits like a glove, for me the large would definitely of been to big,& with an emtb being heavier i Didn’t want it to feel to big as well.

Any coil shocks on the strive on in the meantime? Is the frame ready for coil?
I'v not seen anyone running a coil yet, iv got an ext storia im getting altered to suit. Be good to hear if anyone else has fitted a coil, so iv got some info re progressive/linear for mojo to tune it.

Another batch of Crispy Designs Shit Flaps is currently on the laser. There’ll only be 18 available as this is the last of the rubber material I have for now. Latest batch will be black again. Fits all frame sizes

To keep it fair (The first two batches sold out within an hour and I get lots of requests for more to be made and reserved if possible) I’ll be making this batch live on my site at 10am on Saturday. The link will be: https://crispydesigns.co.uk/collections/canyon/products/canyon-strive-on-shit-flap-frame-size-largel

It’ll be a first come first served affair. That’s as fair as I can make it.

Cheers

Christian

AM or PM ?link not working for me, gettingb a 404

I'm torn... 189cm... ride a s4 Specialized Enduro and really don't want anything shorter, if I had a crash repair I'd probably go an S5. The Large Strive:On sits right in between the S4 and S5 reach wise but has a steeper seat tube so will feel shorter than my S4 possibly while sitting and riding. Given that is something I expect to do more of with an eBike to get up to hills or to enjoy the punchy climbs I wonder if XL is the way to go. But then I see @Rob Rides EMTB is my height and has an L... Analysis paralysis... not to mention I read the Strive:On problems posts am even more confused now... it seems to have everything I want in an eBike and is on sale at the moment too... err help? any thoughts from the wisdom of the internet?

Today I've noticed something peculiar related to motor noise.

The motor would rattle between the 8th smaller cog (18t) and the smaller one (10t).
If I used the 7th (21t) or bigger cog, engine would be (almost) rattle free/ quiet.

Has anyone noticed this?

The conclusion I've reach is that some chain tension reduces motor noice, almost making no rattle at all.

So am thinking of buying my brother's bike off him which is an L. @Rob Rides EMTB - any regrets on going for the L instead of the XL? Think we are the same sort of height, I'm 192cm. I also saw you are running a 210 Oneup dropper, why not a 240, not enough insertion depth?

I'm aware of the battery latch issue from the other thread but as there's work arounds and hopefully a fix coming I think I can live with that. Anything else I need to be aware of? Has anyone manged to break one yet?
