    Tucson Area EMTB

The current rules allow each USFS district to decide and it is changing all the time as districts make up their own minds. So it is best to check and see what the current status is.

50 year and Honeybee are Arizona Trust land and it is eMTB legal, with a $20 a year permit. The black stuff on Mt. Lemon is US Forest Service.

SZZS specific CEF50-main thread (initial builds and troubleshooting related only)

"This controller is suitable for M820 G532 motor. It has 36V 43V 48V specifications, please choose according to your motor model when purchasing." "M820 motor has new and old models, currently on sale is a new controller, please pay attention to whether the controller plug is the same as the...

SZZS specific CEF50-main thread (initial builds and troubleshooting related only)

I just wrote Bafang looking for the part and they said it was not available. I had my retail sources also check and they confirmed that Bafang does not have any and that the 48v is not the same. It does not make sense that the motors would be the same. You can apply any voltage you want but each...

Not according to Bafang. Don't really care what "people" have run.

No not at all. 36v and 48v are not the same motor.

Thanks Patdam but my motors are 36v.

Just wanted to document for others that one of our m820's failed. Clunk, then display went dark and would not start again. Battery is good and display ok. About 2000 miles on motor. Probably the motor controller but could NOT buy spare part from any source including Bafang a motor controller for...

    Question for DIY'ers

A poorly tensioned wheel can break spokes without sticks or derailleurs.

    Question for DIY'ers

I am the same weight and I never have trouble with wheels. IMHO wheel reliability is more about good wheelbuidling than overbuilt parts. I9 hubs are nice hubs but a great set of wheels can be made just was well with Spank or ZTTO hubs, in my experience. I build my own wheels and I never break...

    Question for DIY'ers

I would look at the CEF50 thread. A number of us are in your weight range and have no problems. They are great bikes but any DIY you should have good bike repair skills. It is not a way to save money...

CEF50 vs CEF55 with coil shock

The original CEF50 did not have enough clearance for a coil. There are second and third versions of the frame now that handle a coil but the original batch did not. The CEF55 is a different suspension design so it would not be a direct comparision.

    Bar Ends

Ergon comes in multiple "sizes"/diameters. There are also SQLabs grips which offer a different solution.

Or that you might have tugged on the speed sensor cable and rotated it so it now does not align with the magnet.

Hi. Bob from NorCal. I don't own an E bike yet.

I will speak for the opposite group. I love my SL bikes. I am not an enduro rider so I actaully ride up hill sometimes. Light and playful with a little assist is all I want and need. Under 40lbs is heaven.

What are some of the better conversion kits out there?

I also did the cooling mods and I added the extra bearing eliminating the axle issue. But it brings up the point of needing to do even more homework for a good outcome. If you are fundamentally a DO-IT-YOURSELFER it can be a fun and satisfying project but if you are simply trying to save money...

What are some of the better conversion kits out there?

I used a Tongsheng TSZD2. I was very happy with the result. I used the Open Source Firmware OSF which makes a huge difference in the performance. You should be very comfortable working on a bike and know how or willing to learn how to flash firmware. The Tongsheng is cost effective and easy to...

Transporting two electric bikes, 3000 miles.

I use a Swagman hitch mounted rack. I have about 10,000 miles on it. For emtb, getting the bikes on a low hitch mounted rack is easier that wrestling them up higher. But there are some caveats. First they can sway a LOT in the back. A hitch mounted rack with welds can fail due to this. I use the...

    Bafang M820 Firmware thread

You should read the whole taxi thread if you are interested. Lots of caveats. The downloads are direct from the author and the links are embedded in the thread. https://endless-sphere.com/sphere/threads/fake-taxi-project-the-modified-original-firmware-for-bafang-m820-motor.129580/
