OK lets get one thing out of the way first. This is not about derailleurs being crap/hub gearboxes are better. It’s not about weight, it’s certainly not about cost. This is simply about me indulging myself.
Perhaps one caveat regarding 1x drive trains on mtbs, is there a less aesthetically...
Moderator : On converting an EMTB to Rohloff :
Good luck with that. I’ve tried. They won’t sell you one unless it’s through a bike shop who will assess your bike, carry out various measurements with their test kit and then take responsibility for it.
In addition it’s tricky to find a...
For whatever reason I just can’t get that nice warm feeling whilst railing a berm.
I get all of the physics and technique etc but it just doesn’t feel right.
I’ve always had some sort of moto/crosser/enduro and berms have never been an issue. Chuck it in, sit forward, foot out, look where you...
Is there an extra layer/coating applied to the inner surface of a tyre to make it airtight? Is it something that can be added retrospectively?
I have a pair of tyres on my hard tail that aren’t marked as tubeless ready but the rims are.
It would be a shame to discard them.
I’ve been monitoring eBay of late and I think there are some bargains to be had. Maybe not bargains but some pretty good prices.
Personally I feel the Bosch is emerging as the market leader and I’d feel reasonably confident in purchasing second hand.
£3 - 3.5k seems to be the sweet spot price...
As the title suggests, here we go.
Sram jockey wheels. EX1. Is there a right/wrong way to install relative to rotation/chain direction? They are heavily sculpted but I can’t figure out if it’s a thing?
Seem to run ok and I’ve had them out many times for cleaning.
Long story short, I have a spare motor that doesn’t work. I had no idea why.
Curious to know I dived in.
Easy enough to open. Two sides. The drive side and the electronics side.
The e side is just the 4 torx screws around the centre. Once removed the black section can be pulled off. It’s not...
So my beloved Haibike died on me. Nothing major, just a cracked on/off switch letting in rain and causing errors.
Anyway the upshot was I had to hire a bike for the day.
What I ended up with was a Cube Stereo, Bosch Gen 4 etc.
I guess very few people get a chance to evaluate a different bike...
I think this is my new fav place in the world.
Today was fantastic. I managed 12 runs, eebing up as opposed to uplift, not quite sure why but hey ho.
Also converted to flats, which was nice.
Back next week I think with the DH rig instead.
I’ve never been to one but I hope to rectify that as soon as the weather improves.
I’ve watched countless Brendog/Deakin etc videos but they always seem to have the place to themselves!
Surely this can’t be the case?
Am I going to be disappointed due to overcrowding/bad etiquette etc...
Arrggghhh!
So with the battery installed in the frame on its T slot rail it still has a couple of mm of movement left to right. Doesn’t sound a lot but once you tune into it when riding that’s the day ruined!!
Simple enough fix. Tape a couple of lengths of door draught excluder or similar...
I’ve been running these front and back for a few rides now.
Prior to fitting these I thought the brakes were a tad on the spongy side. The levers were a bit long for my liking but the feel was perfect.
With these the brakes are amazing if a touch digital. I think I prefer the standard pad for...
This is genuinely odd.
New tyres. Old ones off. Clean rims. New tape and valves. Tyres on. Compressor, nice satisfying pop as the beads seat. Sealant in, no mess, no fuss. Valve cores in, inflate. Beer.
Next morning REAR tyres is flat. Front is perfect. WTF?
Re-inflate and out with the soapy...
Anyone running one of these? I like the concept of the B lock. Never really thought about it before but it does seem like an unnecessary movement when the bike is being ridden.
