Velduro Rogue 170/165 mullet Enduro with DJI

Could someone who has the avinox spider tool do me a favour and tell me how big the outer diameter and the size of the teeth is? I am trying to find the right one, and for the ones that look right there is no mention of the avinox, just dimensions given...
Velduro sent a tool with the frame.

ah, perfect, no worries for me then. Thanks.

But that was really the last thing I needed to sort out before my frame arrives. All necessary parts for the build are either old ones I have or were bought over the last weeks from various used part sources on the web and are already here. Everything I will buy new is selected and sits in the shopping cart of my favorite shop and will be ordered when the delivery date of the frame is only a couple days out. No need to have stuff laying around here and waste time of the warranty.

But now I have nothing more to do. On top of that I got the info yesterday that the second shipping container going to Germany (I was too late to get a frame out of the first one) is likely going to be delayed by a few weeks until mid of May. That is almost four month from now! What am I going to do? 😧

In my desperation I have started to look for titanium screws to replace steel screws on the parts that I already have. That's not going to make one bit of a difference for the performance of the bike, but, well, it had me occupied for a while. But I found a replacement for every screw where it only remotely makes sense to replace the old one and ordered them. Now what?

You all need to make way more posts. Preferably with pictures. Lots of them. And video. Keep me entertained 😄

One of the advantages of buying a frameset instead of a complete e-bike is that you can customize the build to your liking.

In my case, I've bought Di2 brakes and shifters, an XTR cassette, and a TTX22 air shock for the lightest possible setup.

Could you provide information about which titanium bolts you're looking for? I'd like to follow your advice and try to reduce the weight even further. Thanks.

Yes, exactly. That's one of the main reasons I ended up with the Velduro.

Don't do it for the weight saving. Or rather, don't expect it to make any perceivable difference. With titanium bolts you are on the very bad end of the law of diminishing returns. I would say its somewhere between 99 and 99.9 % fetishistic behavior, with the 1 to 0.1% being the actual performance increase.

With that being said, I am not ashamed of doing it anyway 😆 I can have matching colors, that's probably the most noticeable thing.

So, what is going to be changed.

  • Bolts for the brake discs (in the back 1 mm longer, because of the avinox sensor disc)
  • bolts for the brake calipers (front and back), including titanium washer on top and aluminum 3 mm spacer on the bottom (discs are 203 mm)
  • for the brake levers (dominion hayes):
    • clamp to handlebar (2 each)
    • lever bearing bolts (2 each)
    • oil reservoir cover (2 each)
    • bleed port (2 each) The levers are symmetric, no difference between left and right, so there is one on the top and one on the bottom. When you flip it one is always up. Didn't find a titanium grub screw, so opted for brass to at least get the golden color.
    • the hollow bolt that is pushing the olive into the shiftlever, no idea what the correct word is. I am going to leave the rubber cover off to show the nice golden color, and save even more weight 😅
  • all 6 bolts of the stem
  • the bolts for fixing the grips
  • one bolt for the axs pod infinity clamp
  • on the dropper remote one screw to fix the cable and one to attach to the clamp (which at the same time closes the clamp)
  • pulley bolts of the derailleur
That's it for now. Once the frame arrives I will see what I will do. Complete the build and go riding probably. Once the wait is over and I don't have to compensate anymore the motivation for this fetish stuff usually drops sharply. Instead I am out in the woods. But if I carry on the seat clamp is a candidate, water bottle screws (they are going to be aluminum though, or nylon if I can get over not carrying the color scheme all the way), tool mount, battery fixation. Let's see what else I can find.

Disassembling all the bolts, measuring them and sourcing the new ones takes an unreasonable amounts of time. Do it only if you are having fun doing it. Otherwise you are going to be disappointed.

I'm as anxious as you are, waiting for the frame to arrive in April or May.

I don't think the weight reduction from the titanium bolts will be significant... but every little helps.
I have managed, or at least I think I have, to shave a kilo off the bike's weight with the following:
Shark rotors
XTR M9220 brakes
XTR 9-45 cassette
XTR Di2 GS shifters
Carbon wheels
Ohlins TTX22 Air shocks
According to my calculations, the Velduro Rogue in XL will weigh around 23.6 kg.

Anyone know why the 12a charger is $449 in OZ but $790 here in NZ?
Yeah I just bought my 12a fast charger from outset for much cheaper, I don’t know why the velduroNZ procured ones are so expensive? Also just weighed my velduro build and was 23.7kg in large with pedals on :) currently fox float x2 (ext aria is getting warrantied and i think is lighter?) and marzochhi super z, carbon rims, galfer 203mm rotors, axs dropper, downhill rear, trail front radial magic Mary.

For those who already have their bikes, i want to hear from two camps if possible.

1) Fox Float X2

Have you at any point thought the X2 was not enough?

2) EXT E-Storia

Is this thing worth double the price of the X2 and does it add the cherry on the top to help me part with my cash.

I ask as i only just found out today that i’m mistaken and my Ohlins TTX M2 is a 210 x 55 and not a 205 x 65….

If you buy from ace cycles in Guildford the e-storia is only an extra £700.

I’ve been on the Ace Website and there’s a lot of website that doesn’t work, I’d assumed they’d gone under or something, i’ll give them a ring
Responsive on instagram. They said speak to velduro to move the order over to take advantage of the bundle deal. Ben moved my order without hassle.
Was a no brainer for me as i was going to buy an e-storia anyway. Saved about £350.
Plus its closer to collect.

Do you know who they source the shock from as it’s a custom tuned shock to bike and rider isn’t it?

They are buddies with jack at mojo. Dunno if its custom tuned, i did call them to talk about it, can't remember though. The e-storia has a much wider range of adjustments vs their other shocks.

Started with the x2 and it was good in the STD position, but still a little progressive for me.
Running the EXT E-Storia and it’s magical on this bike. But I’ve found EXT to be the best on both my wild and Pole. Love the way it feels and seems to compliment this frame geo really well.

And EXT’s service is the best I’ve ever dealt with. While getting the E-Storia dialed for this thing I sent an email to ext for settings suggestions, they called and went through all the geo and kinematics from the Velduro site. Incredible knowledge and team at EXT 💯 worth the money in my opinion.

This bike has > 25% progression. The correct choice is a linear coil spring. Don't even use a Springdex as they are also progressive.

The other reality is that shocks take a lot of abuse, especially on a heavy hitting >50# e-bike. Coil is just a more reliable choice for the shock. Also don't have to adjust air pressure for changing altitude.

What size rotors is my next dilema?
I have hope tech 4 E4's on my enduro with 200mm hope floating rotors and intend to get Hope tech4 EVO GR4's for the Rogue with Galfer shark rotors - but stay 200 or go up to 223? I'm 90kg kitted and generally ride hard and fast on short and steep natural/hand built (rarely bike park) trails.

Can anyone take a side by side photo with a Levo gen 3 so I can see how it looks in comparison? Maybe there are Velduro owners which have a gen 3 also. Cheers!

There's this thing called google....

Yeah I'm being smart arse but there literally thousands of pictures to choose from.

I would for sure go up to 220/223 Front at least. Rear being 200 is fine imo.
