Anyone ever replaced a CX Gen 2 for the new Gen 4

Thanks again for your work with the adaptors!
I had to put my project on hold during the winter - but now the temperature is rising and I have found some time to work on the egg-cover. I have still some work to do on the structure, but I am quite pleased by the result. I choose to integrate with the the cx4 bottom cover to protect the cables and make the design easier for myself (I can not draw - I am using OpenSCad).

I am excited to see the others here have made a 3d-model of the cx4 motor and making a cover from scratch. Keep up the good work!

Looks good!

Which brand are the bottom and left side cover? They seem like a good fit for this project!

Sorry for the late response.... at first I did not know what to answer.... I got the bottom covers from my local bike shop, and they was the same as the covers on my Bulls Copperhead Evo 29 XXL bike. I thought they were generic Bosch as Bulls is not sold in Norway. My local bike shop tried to sell Bulls for many years ago, but Norway was a too small country for Bulls. But now my local shop is selling Kettler - which might be associated with Bulls one way or another (maybe someone here can verify?).

So Bulls/Kettler is my best answer until I visit my local shop so I can ask them.

Edit: Your cover is also a very nice work! I also can share my source when I have fixed a few problems. Trouble is I am using OpenSCad - and this project is so much trial-and-error so the source is really embarrassing ;-) But the winter is not over yet - it is snowing right now - so do not hold your breath while waiting for me.

Edit: typo

I think @Bearing Man has managed to put a newer version of a motor into a bike by making a special mounting bracket.

Let me know if you need adapters.

Yes I need adapters can you help all I have is an unprogrammed Gen 4 which my local e bike supplier is going to fit in place of the Gen 3 and he will put latest program files on it. The Gen 4 is tiny in comparison. But if you have adapters how can I contact you please

I was hoping to do it, was studying product design and I still couldn’t get hold of the gen 4 motor by itself.Tried for over a year, Bosch their distributors or any LBS that stock them will not sell you one. It’s only available as a replacement (gen 4 for gen 4) the only way you will get one is through eBay and they don’t come up that often.

If I go back to working on the project I was trying to get it for I’ll probably buy the cheapest hard tail I can find with the gen 4 and take the motor out of that.
I Bought an unprogrammed Gen 4 on ebay. Brand new from Poland cost £240

I bought a Set of these brackets from cobee and I can personally vouch they are machined to perfection. I was a bit scared at the thought that maybe they won't fit or would it not look right.

Cobee was amazing throughout answering all my questions and I had a lot though he put my mind at rest.

The shipping was extremely fast about 4 days from Poland to the UK. I purchased my Bosch Gen 4 from ebay unprogrammed and I got a mate in my local e bike shop to program the motor taking out my Gen 2 replacing it with the Gen 4. Here are the Photos. I have included the brackets as I chose to spray them mat black which in hindsight was the right choice. The front sprocket is a 36 tooth Sram and a wipperman chain which I waxed with absolute black graphene wax.

My ride is a 2020 Trek Powerfly Sport 4 equipped which I have modified with Magpeds ergon grips and magnetic bottle holder from peatys

Here are the Photos.

@Cobee That looks so good have you thought about spraying the mounting bolts and brackets mat black. Or giving the option. Are you getting a lot of business
