Coming from a Shimano EP801 I notice the Bosch CX gen 5 is a lot noisier when backpedaling or coasting. The Shimano must have used a sprag clutch on both the pedal input and motor output to the drive spline for chain ring. It was silent back pedaling it. On the Bosch, its quite noisy and "ratchety" like a freehub mechanism.

Often when coasting the chain ring is rotating vs. the freehub on wheel. Granted I still have the cheap OE wheel set with a WTB rim and Bear Pawls 24T hub. I got a new wheelset on the way, but I've been thinking should the hub have a lower drag than the motor...

I found a picture of a gen 4 CX, which shows a star ratchet mechanism like DT. Also disappointing is that any maintenance, such as cleaning and lubing normally done on a freehub is basically impossible with the motor. I know, I know their mostly disposable and I'm not sure if a sprag is anymore "durable" or long-life without similar maintenance.

Anyway, wondering if others notice the motor is more inclined to freewheel when coasting vs. the wheel?
