There's usually shade from folks that haven't tried it ( just like forbidden's geoIf you are welding why have a floor that catches fire? Also if ya doing dirty stuff why have a floor traps dirt and grime?
this seems to me to be a clean mans garage that doesn't do any dirty or hot work.....
What am i missing?
I just cant think for a worse set up for both hot and dirty work.
Dont get me wrong. It clean and cool as fuck. Just doesn't look heavy workshop compatible.
If you're throwing stuff on to the floor while tig welding, you're doing it wrong.
And there's an advantage to the swisstrax "grid" tiles, in that spills and debris drop through it. One quick wipe with some paper towel and you continue working, no need to mop it up immediately. And then just pressure wash into the floor drain when the job is done. Or if just cutting/grinding debris, shop vac it up. The tiles hold stuff in place until you're ready to dispose of it essentially, but it doesn't contaminate your working surface (what your feet are touching).
There's a need to throw down a fire blanket when plasma cutting, but that's true of any floor, even bare polished concrete.
I'd not be hardfacing equipment implements in there or air arcing, but that's not what most people do in their garages either. Nor do I work on super dirty junk in there. Have a shop with an overhead gantry crane for those types of adventures.
