SZZ mention a Bafang M820 PRO model for their CEF50/55 Can’t find anything on it.

I am tempted to get 2 more lightweight EMTB’s to get my family along on the trails..

Could someone shed a light on the difference of those frames besides the shock position?

Hi Peter, any updates on the new linkage from your communication with Jean? Thanks

I think (like me), peter pics confused you

Peter linkage is an 3D printink linkage (not functional) make by peter following dimension comunicate by SZZS for the X2 adapted linkage. The real linkage for X2 currently available at sale is an alloy like this

SZZS working on new rear triangle and linkage (carbon molded). but i don't know when it will Be available (don't forget that need several months for build and ship after ordering)

I DMed Jean on the 11th May and she said the new links (what she calls connecting rods) would be available from 20 May.
The new chainstays (stiffer, with the bridge) would be sometime in June.
I will be ordering both at the same time to cut shipping costs. My feeling is that they should be supplying the new link free of charge as it is a design flaw if the shock is contacting the frame.

Hope this helps clarify.

Since others are doing writeups I will add my experience with the SZZS-69. I am now at almost 370miles (600KM). All of these miles have been in mullet mode setup as a 170/160 and 152 cranks. I have a small so the Float X does fit and clear fine on my bike. First, the positives. This bike is an absolute animal. There is nothing it cannot handle. It rides amazing and TBH I just cannot see paying $14k-$15k for another ebike where our bike will be as good if not better for half the money. It descends amazing, it climbs amazing. It is setting KOMs everywhere. Up, down and on the flats.

Some concerns and issues to pay attention to: Make sure to use blue lock tight on all pivots and let it set for 24-48 hours. With that said...you still need to 2x check all pivot bolts often! Make sure to check the cassette as well. My 12spd Sram cassette actually started to back out over time and it needs to be checked.

I agree with others....the bike needs a mullet flip chip and hopefully SZZS allows this option in the future. For those of you on the fence....get the shortest cranks (152.5) you can AND get a 36t chainring. Thank me later. IMO the solution to run a 2.6 tire for mullet is not acceptable. I don't want a balloon back there. It completely takes away the whole point of having a mullet.

I was new to the ebike world so I learned this....plug the charger into the wall first...THEN plug into the bike.

The headset IMO needs to be upgraded and I will probably do this. If even the littlest bit of water gets near it, it begins to squeak and then needs to be pulled and some grease added.

I also wish SZZS would add a cross brace on the seat stays. I think the power of this motor and the flex to the rear may contribute to some of the loosening of parts. I'm no expert here and it does not seem to effect the ride...just an observation.

Lastly...and this will take more time on the bike, but I want to see how the durability and the reliability of the frame holds up. So far so good but I think this will only come with time.

Hope this helps some of you.

I now have about 250kms on my CEF69. Generally very happy with it. I have picked up a few issues.

1. The large frame does not accommodate the float x. I have had to move shock hardware spacers around to get it to work. Jean said she will quote on a new link when ready. I have pushed back as their diagrams clearly show it can accommodate a piggy-back shock. Sent her photos as well. We will see what the result is.

2. When I wash my bike something inside gets wet and the bike will not start up. I mentioned this and she said drying with a hairdryer works. All well and good until I get stuck on the mountain in the rain. I will open it up and see if I can sort it out. This needs to be mentioned to Bafang as it is an issue (other people have mentioned this to them).

3. This bike is not a mullet. I have 152mm cranks and have had numerous strikes. I have swopped out to a 29er and it runs perfectly. I mentioned to her that with the new link they should look at a flip chip to accommodate a mullet. Their solution is to run a 2.8 tyre.

Other than that, the bike is a beast. I ended up at just over 21.5kgs with a fairly burly build and it handles everything I have thrown at it so far. No issues (touch wood) with the M510 RS motor either. Smooth power delivery and no hiccups yet.
Hey there just been looking back at comments on this build and saw you mention issues with rain / water ingress, when i did my CEF50 build I used di-electric grease for all connectors (on the plastic or rubber joins not the metal to metal connection) and silicon sealant for wiring connectors, both round the motor / battery area but also display. After 1000 km in all sorts of weather I've had no issues so might be worth exploring the same sealing options?

I've got a CEF69 & M560 on order, the main frame is complete and Jean told me this week the new rear triangle is going into production. The new X2 compliant shock linkage is also being shipped with it on 20 June so I assume those have already started production. Will be ab le to show some pics when things arrive in early July.

Cheers man, thanks.
I did the silicone spray too. There is also a port on the motor with no cable to insert. I squeezed some Presstik in there and have had zero issue since then.
