Pre-order starts next month - Next Crestline Avinox frame set

One was the kid but he can clearly ride. The trails he was on are no joke. The other was Brian Cahill who I think is pretty knowledgeable. He tested 40 bikes last year. Everything from emtb’s to enduro/trail to DH so he has a reference point. Everyone obviously has their own preferences in what they are looking for but they both were saying it’s really flexy. Not compliant or flexy but reeeaallyy flexy.
I live in one of those affluent places where there are lots of Crestline, with aging and large riders who still live technical riding. No one has ever complained about flex, even the fat riders. The truth is: everyone I know, even middling riders, vastly improved their DH times once they got the Crestline. Such jumps in ability did not happen to the Gen 4 Levo and Orbea Wilds riders.

You know why that is? If you are going to ride a CL, you better RIDE the CL 🤣

Read the small print beside America the bike won’t ship with a battery so you will have to source a battery yourself

I think the implication is the local Avinox dealer can supply the battery, I don't think you are on your own.

Saw your review. Super interested to try one. I wonder if you’d benefit even more with a low sweep bar to keep your reach, but bars more parallel to the fork. In moto we always have our bar bend parallel to fork (the two red striped I made). But that would require less sweep in the bar to achieve the same reach because of how much that device sticks up a lot.

Im not going to lie, I want to try this. After years of making fun of it, I actually read up on it. I thought about the street bikes and dirt bikes I’ve owned over the years, and how fantastic they always felt.

If it weren’t for the price, I would definitely try it. Well, the other thing that has me wondering is the reach. I was looking at my Levo and it seems like I would be kicking the bars with my knees…

Bar rise aligned with HTA (neutral bar roll) is going to reduce overall bar height and grip reach. Bar rolled forward like pictured increasing grip height and reach. Having a higher rise bar will exaggerate both characteristics depending on which way you roll the bar.

Do we have an estimate on the next 181.2 drop? I missed the January drop.

I do not need more power (I need less weight) so I'm not craving this frame, but it is really nice to see these new frames and motors. I'm pretty content with my Pivot Shuttle AM. Hopefully, the Avinox reliability/durability keeps improving. It would be cool to even see that happen to the Fazua with a rebirth.

@Rob Rides EMTB do you plan to ride the cresty with the new Zeb/Vivid coil setup as well? Would interesting to see your thoughts on the new fox stuff vs new rockshox. Stoked to see you’re putting a lot of time on this bike!
Can’t wait to finally hear your thoughts and videos

For sure :-)

Not sure what size and color you are looking for, but there is actually one Plaid left without a home out there RH2, Air, 800wh, raw carbon:

Not sure why this thing is still laying around, this is the same frame I ordered even!!

You are not alone, 5'10" and an RH2 on order! Troydon did say sizing down is recommended as well on these e-bikes in an article I read somewhere..

Oh yeah, they do have an Alpine white RH2 with the 600wh battery as well on the same site. Guess they are selling the frames separately and with markup, which I think other shops are only selling complete bikes.

Maybe folks dont think the ultra limited Crestline frame is worth the markup?!

So the Plaid's have not "officially" sold out yet it seems.. let your jealous buddies know they too can join in the "Crest-line"!!

#150 likely, the last of the Plaid line!

^^ No idea on the purchase details actually, and I think they are in Canada so not sure on the currency stuff either, maybe I totally misspoke above.

I would hit them up immediately if interested to work on a deal!! I bet they can work on pricing parts etc like any other shop I would imagine.

I'm ending up with both batteries (600 and 800) going through a bike shop.. long story but it seems will all work out!

Smith creek is in Canada (really good shop), so that’s Canadian dollars before tax

Oh wow! I cant believe there are still a few out there. I guess when they sold out on Crestlines website, I never considered checking with one of their dealers. I kind of figured they would already be spoken for as well.

I was able to snag one, but I know there are ppl out there waiting for the next batch….

Crestline had a HUGE advantage with being one of the first to market. That'll be gone in the next few months and availability will become much easier.

Kickback is real. Sorry guys. 100% can also be demonstrated and there’s plenty videos on this.

Does it matter to you specifically, maybe not, so don’t worry about it. Each bike is also different. Yours may not have noticeable kickback.
I just saw this while death scrolling and figured I’d drop it here. I immediately thought about this thread lol

Facebook reels:

I think one of those reviews was that teenager with the peach fuzz mustache? I’d take what that kid says with a giant grain of salt.

He’s made some outlandish claims in his other “reviews”.

I also don’t trust what Pink Bike says. They dogged the Ripmo v3 and that bike is hard to beat.

I tend to trust what random owners say more. Larger sample size, no corporate overlords to cow tail too, no advertisers to piss off, etc.
Yeah but confirmation bias is a real thing. It's a tough pill to swallow to go online and shout from the roof tops that the thing you just spent all your expendable income on sucks.

Peach fuzz kid was hilarious and also gave me a bit of a Karen moment... I did not have nice stuff when I was a kid so why should he (!).

lol, I don't even know who you guys are talking about.. Is it Brian Cahal?

On another note, my GX Transmission came in the other day. Is there a chart somewhere that tells me how long my chain needs to be based on which dropout and chainring size I'm using?

I dont notice flex but like scford im not a super hard rider and I weigh 150lbs. Unless you're a racer or on the heavier side I dont think the flex will be much of an issue. Troydon himself isn't a light guy and he can rip the bike.
Yeah Troyden is +200lbs and absolutely sending / shredding. Nothing about the bike is holding him back.

Having passed on this round I'm already excited for his next act. I'm guessing he'll address the stiffness issue somehow, and maybe also insertion depth (?). Clearly both are relatively minor issues.
