    Riding a tuned or deristricted EMTB is not a trivial offence and can have serious legal consequences. Also, many manufacturers can detect the use of a tuning device or deristricting method and may decline a repair under warranty if it was modified from the intended original specification. Deristricting EMTB's can also add increased loads for motors and batteries. Riding above the local law limit may reclassify the bike as a low-powered bike, requiring insurance, registration and a number plate.

Derestricting bosch smart system

This patch doesn't work for me. And even with a correct 1.2.3 crack, this version cannot connect to gen5 bikes. And you can't do anything else other than turning on/off the lights, activating power ports, other small changes. That is IBD programming, almost all the stuff you can already do on the display or in the app.




For newer versions (16.x, 17.x, etc.), even if you have an OEM crack and configuration container files (.cff4, .bpc, .db), you still need a private key stored on the OEM dongle (YubiKey) to sign the configuration sent to the bike. After sending a valid config that is incorrectly signed, because you don't have a certificate+private key, the bike will reject it. Bosch is such an anti-consumer brand that they place certificate checks on the bike itself, preventing you from repairing the bike yourself

I do agree "software" patch is better, but charging 200€ for just a click in the app is outrageous. I wouldn't be surprised if you could get bosch dealer certified for that much money. I found bosch ebike dealer trainings for 15-50€ online, but that is if you own a bike repair shop

I do agree "software" patch is better, but charging 200€ for just a click in the app is outrageous. I wouldn't be surprised if you could get bosch dealer certified for that much money. I found bosch ebike dealer trainings for 15-50€ online, but that is if you own a bike repair shop

Do you have a list of the 5th generation motors? I have a BDU3360, which generation is it? This software connects to it. Even if you can't update the software, v1.2.3 allows you to modify settings that can't be changed from the display. Maybe it will be useful to someone; until now, this software hasn't been widely available :)

It works on my gen 4 smart system!! But the usage is limited to diagnostic and few settings, do you think there would be any way to bypass bosch id related restrictions?

It is impossible to flash the configuration file in production without an OEM dongle or a legitimate OEM account, because applying the configuration is cryptographically signed. Game Over!

So the software is good for diagnostics, clearing errors and basic settings...similar to what Bosch dealers have, but OEM production features cannot be used.

When I saw first posts about the US firmware upload cost was much more, recently I see 75 EUR. Is the same guy reduced it, or someone else? Is the 75 EUR firmware change works just as well?

I consider it for 75 EUR, previously I saw for about twice as much, what I would not choose over volspeed. I think it is not ideal, I would prefer the limit at 45km/h not 32, while I would not like to play with wheel circumference because that effects walking assistance, start assistance. In the same time volspeed is 240EUR now if available at all.

I think the 75EUR may be fair, I guess it is not just a few clicks, takes time to do and they also risk their account.

As other systems are coming up now and I saw with some friends how well Avinox works, I do not think I would choose Bosch again. Speed is one thing, but also also seeing how closed Bosch system is and we need Bosch dealer to switch on the light power output, enable other element in the system etc., that is very annoying. I hate the fact that I need Bosch to assist if I want to repair my bike.
 
Whilst it seems a lot for a software change, as it only has limit availability in terms of access AND the price is comparable to a chip it's not the end of the world. I've been asked to update Flow to the latest version too, no issues with anything and when I spoke to the Polish chap he said any issues he would reflash my bike.

I don't see the point to do both, you can do wheel size halving, and get 50km/h limit, and your display will show half of the speed. If you want to get correct speed on the display and 32km/h enough you can do USA configuration .

The wheel size halving can be reversed without any trace, the usa configuration can also reversed but will leave a trace on the system.

So if I live in the USA, can I just change the wheel size (half) in the Flow app and get 50km/h?

Im thinking one thing so let's say you change to the usa firmware and later on you will sell the bike in the future can this be set back to Eu firmware?

Just wondering i wouldn't do it unless someone buying it would question that you need to vpn to be able to update the bike in the flow app depends who would buy it if i decide to upgrade later on.

You can update the 32km/h converted bikes in the flow app ,anywhere in the world without VPN. I tested it myself, got the latest update automatically.
 
Has anyone ever tried halving the circumference of their rear wheel and pedaling for 30 minutes, for example, at an average speed of 45 km/h? Doesn't the Bosch onboard software detect this modification based on the battery's Wh consumption, which would be inconsistent with a "real-world" situation?

do you think it would be possible halving rear wheel circumference with just "base" access? i mean i got that option available in the patched version without the need to login with bosch id

Nope, it’s similar to changing the speed. So it can only be done from the production configurator.
Even if you manage to modify the value (the circumference, or even the speed if you somehow manage to change it) the e‑bike computer will throw an error and won’t accept it, because it doesn’t have the production container required to validate that parameter

No idea, I'm just giving you my feedback as someone using the Polish guys set up...I've had no issues. I'm going to swap to a 36T in the next few days, happy ro feedback once that's been fitted if that's of interest?

Yes, I plan to do the US update and reduce the rear wheel size by half. I should mention that my bike is an electric mountain bike. So, to be able to reach 45-50 km/h, I'll have to install a larger chainring.
