Pic of the Day

I have my bike back, a good ride was had, then finished off with expensive artisan pizza and a Peroni. Does it get any better? (other than free pizza)

This picture is simple cruelty.
I'm currently on a diet and that kind of pizza is my go-to comfort food...and I like to be VERY comfortable.
Ah well...maybe some time in 2026...

Lovely day but cold 🥶 probably not putting enough effort in. Wouldn't know the bridge is down from that pic.

The New rules seem confusing 🫤
My apologies as a non native speaker if it is not the proper wording. Could have to do with respecting cultural rules by First Nations? Saw a couple of signs in BC telling e.g. not to take stones away from a beach that was part of cultural heritage of the First Nations.

Yes, the Indigenous people, or First Nations, have historical rights throughout this province. The area that we ride in is somewhat controlled by a particular native group. (I can’t spell or pronounce). Any work or changes to this region must get the approval from them first, even though it may be symbolic sometimes.

Many years ago I became friends with a few members of the Kawaguluc (spelling wrong) tribe in Alert Bay off of Vancouver Island. One of the artists gave me permission and his original drawings of a carving.

Almost 40 years ago and I’m not quite done. The wood is yellow cedar that I felled, recovered, dried and carved.

An adhock decision to ride today with @The Hodge over Kielder way. With me having a busy afternoon and Neil with potential car woes we stayed local to Bellingham (ish)
For us an early start of 09.30 hrs was met with bright winter sunshine and virtually no wind. We decided to do a circuit of the reservoir I haven’t done since all the paths and ways were made accessible to all.
It turned out to be a thoroughly enjoyable ride of 27 miles taking in a great blue flow trail to end with.
Great craic, splendid winter sun and stunning vistas
Cheers Neil excellent ride out.

Cant add too much to enhance what Wayne has more than perfectly described ..its a couple of years since Ive done the full circuit of the Lakeside Way and good to see its being improved with a better surface in lots of places ..it was a fabulous " chilled " ride and the pics taken on the rocks on the north shore brought back memories of when I lived in Falstone ( the hamlet just below the dam wall ) when I used to do a short loop on what was back then a skinny singletrack trail before the multi-user trail was built ..and always stopped there for a few moments to reflect on life , love & the universe 😁.
Great day and grand craic ..cheers Wayne ..

That brings back some memories, I remember visiting Falstone with my junior school and we stopped in some sort of youth hostel, Kielder was just being constructed and there was just a big block of concrete in the middle of a valley, Roughly around 1977 give or take a couple of years

I wonder if that could have been Kielder Field Study Centre ..which my Dad used to run on behalf of Northumberland Schools ?
When that went under water he formed Reivers of Tarset out of The Comb..which among other outdoor pursuits ran the Watersport Centre at Leaplish ( now known as Waterside )..and The Inter Company Kielder Challenge ..which ran for 25 years ..most of which I took part in as a marshall ..
Happy days

All the very best Colin, big 70 😳!
Hope to catch up again next year as the great care home gettaway is headed to Ballater again next May.
Keep you posted
Thank you . There's plenty choice in Ballater that's for sure. Look forward to it.
