Bosch Power More 250W

PowerMore works alone, ONLY if it is activated in ebike configuration. You can verify it in Kiox or Cell Bosch Flow APP, you go to My Bike-Components-Battery and Powermore should be listed as enabled. If it is not there, it won't work

It has to be enabled.
Sounds like they need to RFTM, or you need to go to LBS who knows what they're doing.
I'm at the point of giving up on this, it is very frustrating, Haibike and Bosch both say I can retrofit the PowerMore and just need to have a dealer request a new configuration for the bike. Unfortunately none of my LBS's seem to have the faintest idea of how to do this or, I guess, have much incentive to find out. It seems crazy that an after market bolt on goody requires the involvement of a dealer only software configuration change!
Why didn't Bosch enable the activation via the Flow app.

I've had the same issue trying to get the power socket enabled. It seems the Bosch agent has to email the manufacturer who then has to request Bosch to change the the settings for your bike on their database, so that next time the agent connects your bike it can be updated.
The time involved by the 3 parties just for a simple issue is ridiculous.

Powermore 250 on Radon Deft – Not Working

Hi everyone,

I tested the Powermore 250 on my Radon Deft today, but unfortunately, it didn’t work. The bike gives an error message saying the power extender is not compatible, even though the app recognizes it and shows a green check as if everything is fine. However, when connected, the lights on the control unit turn red (alarm). Disconnecting and restarting clears the issue, but only without the extender.

To test further, I removed the original 750Wh Powertube and connected only the extender. Unfortunately, this resulted in the same failure. It would have been great to ride with just the extender to save weight, but no luck—it simply doesn’t work.

I’ve sent an email to Radon about this and am now waiting for their response. Maybe they can reach out to Bosch to include this in a future update (I shared my serial number). I don’t know.

I get that the Radon Deft is designed for hardcore (downhill) e-bike riding, and it might not be ideal to attach an external battery with just two screws. That’s probably why Radon disabled the function. Still, I also use the bike for trekking and longer trips, where extra power would be really useful. So I hope they can and want to fix this.

Another issue is that the Powermore 250 doesn’t fit inside the frame. The Deft comes with the high-performance Fox Float X2 Factory rear shock, which takes up some space. Maybe the Orbea adapter (mentioned above) could solve this problem.

Keep you updated.

Here is my experience with Bosch smart system and second battery;

August last year bought a new bike with smart system, assembled mid 2022. Also ordered a powermore, a 400wh battery and a short connecting cable to the bike charging port.
After update the bike system with Bosch Flow app I tried to connect the powermore battery.
Bosch gave me a critical error because powermore was not enabled. So I tried the 400wh battery, another critical error since the additional battery firmware was not updated.
The solution was to remove main battery, connect additional 400wh battery again and update its firmware with flow app.
After that install main battery again and, miracle, all green. The system recognized and work ok with both batteries.

So, powermore needs to be enabled but second battery does not.

Back to the bike Dealer, he could not enable powermore with Bosch Dealer software.
But using the Bosh software he started a "Bill" to the bike local distributer that sent him a code and finally the Dealer was able to fix the powermore.
After an update to the powermore firmware all was finally working.

Today, after some experiences with my bike and Bosh smart system, other batteries and cables, some made by my self, I understand a bit better what is going on.

Regards

I am finally making some progress. I raised a support ticket with Bosch explaning the situation and requesting firstly can any certified Bosch dealer raise a configuration change request (i.e. not necessarily a dealer of the make of the bike), Answer- Yes. Secondly I requested a step by step instruction for making the request, which they provided. I passed that on to my friendly LBS (as opposed to the unfriendly LBS of my bike manufacturer) yesterday 30-Jan and they were able to raise the request without problem and have a confirmation number for it.:)
We now await a response, I'll keep you posted.

Can you share the step by step guide, in a new thread?

Well we finally got a reply from Bosch instructing the dealer to contact the bike manufacturer and forward an enclosed transaction number to process the configuration change. As my friendly LBS is not a dealer of my bikes manufacturer I have sent the message as a further ticket on the same subject. I await the respnse.
P.S. @Jackware I will update the step by step instructions as and when the process is complete (if ever:whistle::cry:)

Quick response from Haibike is quote "please ask your dealer to contact us directly."

Hi, how did you connect and attached second battery? Also did you try to connect compacttube 400wh with powermore cable? I want to add to my 2022 mondraker second battery but still not sure what is the best way to do it.

The problem with compact 400wh is to attache it to the frame.
Powermore cable is not compatible with it, so If you use bosch supports, you need to use battery cables.
I made 2 cables ( 2 different solutions ) and an aluminum support for the standard bottles support.
The easiest cable can be made using one battery cable and a powermore cable.
Cut them to the size and crimp or solder the cables.
You will have a cable with a battery connector and a powermore connector, the small one that goes to the frame charging port.
Now, since this mixes two different cables you have to cross the yellow and green cables.
Red to red, black to black, green to yellow and yellow to green.

The second solution is more complicated because it involves non bosch connectors but it allows to connect the second battery directly to the motor, avoiding long cables and, additionally, charge the two batteries at the same time.
And you can also use it for the powermore.

It is also possible to make a parallel cable to charge 2 batteries at the same time.

Just remember to cross yellow and green cables when you use different bosch connectors.

Thanks for sharing, and I have some questions, to anyone that may help.

The powermore is a cleaver solution, but it is small (only 250wh), and adds some weight where I prefer not have.
I would like to use the powermore or a smaller battery for shuttle rides or quick rides.
My intention is build/print the supports to addapt the 400 compact battery on the location I now have for the 750Wh.

Since the compact 400wh battery would be installed near the motor, the battery plug would need to be moved from the original position near the headtube, to near the motor.
And here's my question:
On Smartsystem, (suposing that he dual battery is unblocked), can you use a Y dual battery harness, and use only one battery?

This would hable to use original battery plug position (for 750wh) and use a different plug near the motor for the 400Wh.

Thank you

The short answer is, yes you can.

You can have one or two batts connected at the same time to the system. The harness may have many connectors for several batts as long as only one or max two of them are connected.

What byke do you have?

Smart Powerpack and Powermore works only with 2024-2025 bikes. Only that sistem know dual battery configuration. If your bike does need un update to system and battery, the system will do it automaticly. Batteries must be updated in the same time. I have a Mondraker Prime with 625w smart battery as primal source and 2 powerpack, 545 and 800w in the same time. I use it altertive in offroad and on tarmac. Power more is the same, just a change of a name. Th system drains them in the same time with main battery.

I have a 2025 Chaser and planning to buy a powermore extender, but on the service sheet say its Not enabled, but the bike charging point socket is the compatible one with 2 holes.
Any bosch service able to turn ON the extender section in the firmware ?

You'll have to ask to a Mondraker LBS, the manufacturer Mondraker is the one who provides the FW "Manufacturer Container" which includes the Power More Enable.

I also have a Mondraker 2024 and when I plug the extended powerpack battery, the software will update the battery automaticlly. No need for service or anything else. Powermore its just another battery just like a powerpack, they are the same, only capacity and form differs. I preffered powerpack for the range. I have 3x 545w and 1x 800w, beside my 625w original battery :) So, 3.060W total power, 1500-2000 km range :) And the cable is the same cable for the Powermore, no other cable needed.
So, if you buy a Powermore, the Flow app will update the bike, automatic, to suport dual battery sistem. This means ”SMART”, can draw energy from two batteries in the same time. Not like Shimano, empties first the range extender and then the main battery.

The Powermore is pretty light. I only need mine when climbing more than 6,000 ft so it is a few times a season (my favorite rides though) but I cannot feel the difference between it and a full water bottle. I assume the Powermore came out after some of these older motors were manufactured, which is why there is a compatibility issue.

Which mondraker you have ? I spoke one of the Chaser (750w) owner and he got a replay from mondraker and they said : the powermore switched off on those bikes , where the extra battery goes to the top tube, because safety measures. Those 1.5kg too much for the top tube ...
Which i think is silly!

Anyone else has the powermore mount not so close to the frame?
my frame has raised bottle cage mounts

I just bough my Cannondale with Bosch 4Gen Smart System, according Serial Number label, it was manufactured on May 22th 2023, so I was checking if the new Power More Extender is compatible with it, and it isn't. I'd say Bosch is shooting himself in the foot, there is a huge market of older ebikes willing to use a Bosch Extender but they don't provide it.

Power More has a new plug that will not match older Charge Sockets, probably 2024 ebikes will have "Bosch 4Gen Release 2", and they will include the new socket.

Hi,

Change the charging port and you are done. I do this with my Trek.
