Fuel EXe Trek Fuel EXe Megathread!

Tbh I asked the bike shop to check and review. Oddly when I spoke to them today they seem convinced it’s the headset…

Beginning to wonder if I should take it to a different trek dealer.
The same thing happened to me. I was positive the squeak that I was hearing was coming from the bottom bracket but my LBS thought it was the headset. Then I learned here about the "motor compensator bolts". I adjusted them myself and that solved the problem.
A year later, I was hearing a chirp. I suspected my rear shock. A different LBS rebuilt it but that didn't solve the problem. They didn't know what else it could be. A friend of mine said that I should try washing it. That solved the problem and it hasn't come back.

I did that without taking the motor out. However I took the battery out and the plastic cover which sits in the area of the battery opening under the battery.
I bought a cheap hose Installation tool, connected the wire to the old hose and pulled the hose out, replacing it with the wire. Then I connected the new hose the wire and the same procedure in reverse.
Sadly don't have a cable routing tool, but guess I'll figure something out. Good to know that its possible without taking out the motor. cheers

It looks like there are a new batch of firmware updates available for the hpr 50 batteries, display etc.

Has anyone installed them yet?

I installed it, it works as advertised!

Did anyone actually get the updated app? Not showing in the iOS store for me. My TQ app is still 2nd July. Not going to ask the bike shop for an update until I get the app. Could it be regional? I'm in Australia.

The TQ app came out a while ago. Look at past release notes, all of the slow charging, storage mode, etc. are in there. They were just waiting on the firmware release.

@xcel - you can connect the new brake hose to the old and pull it through

Can you post a screenshot showing where to find the charging modes etc?

I just updated my bike to all the latest firmware, and the tq app is the most recent version, but I don't see any options for setting charging modes etc?

I'm using the android version of the app.

Ignore me, it has now appeared, had to log out of the app and back in again though.

Hmm but then you have to cut the hose at the caliper, making the old brakes problemtic?
The Guide and Level T brake calipers I’ve relaced were not problematic at all - lots of space in the trash bin. 😉

Do you believe that framesets could be available if the frame gets redesigned to carry the 580Wh battery?
Struggling to interpret your comment but do you think existing fuels will be able to use the 580 battery when it’s released ? Perhaps I will contact TQ and ask them

Cheers ordered one of these and a cheap toopre internal cable routing kit. I think @volts is correct though, would have to cut the old hose down at the caliper so I can pull the new one through. I'll have to check how strong the magnets of the routing kit are, using this barb connector is probably easier though.

I really hope the hayes hoses fits into the frame though, seems like quite the tight fit already where the hose enters the frame under the mud flap.

I used a park tool Kit

I cut the hose at cockpit area, screw in the wire, drag the wire through the frame. Then i screw in the new hose and drag it through the frame.

Is it known if the 580wh battery from the new Fuel Exe will work with the 360wh Fuel Exe?

How do you get the app to adjust the bike?
Edit: I uninstalled and reinstalled Trek Central and that solved the problem.

I have issues with my Trek Fuel EXE display failing. I'm now waiting on a reply from Trek NZ re warranty claim. My issue sounds similar to some I've read on this Megathread.

I bought my Trek Fuel EXE from a large LBS in Nelson, NZ, May 2024 and it's been fantastic up until last week.
When I ride with my son I ride an older analog bike, so this one hasn't had heaps of use.

Last week the EXE display froze with a 'crazed' display that refused to turn off, or change or anything. After an hour of sitting, it turned itself off. Then after a charge it became functional again. However, the expected range reading was extreme in Eco, (113km) then mid read 25km, and third block was higher at 31km.
The LBS did a diagnostics check(?), and a software update(although it had one 3 months ago) The problem is still there.
The NZ Trek wholesaler claimed he had not heard of this problem, however the LBS staff member said there were some previous problems with the displays that had been replaced under warranty.

So, after some googling I discovered this forum and the many similar issues. It's good to have discovered a treasure trove of information and a source of knowledge to help, but it does make me wonder why the Trek Rep said he hadn't heard of the issue.
I'm hoping the warranty claim will come through soon and I'll have a new display installed.

On another topic, I read on this forum about the new features for battery management for the Fuel EXE on the Trek app. I've found I have both the 'Optimized Charging' and 'Extended Life Mode' and will check them out.

Thanks to all the previous posters for the info...

How do you adjust the Fuel EXE charge settings? I have the latest app on my phone an when I go to the battery section, I have no options. Also, it list lists many parameter and history info but all of mine are zero. Is my phone supposed to update my bike firmware but it hasn't done that? My phone says Trek Central is connected to my bike.

From memory, I found the options by pushing the blue battery button in the Trek app, and scrolling down. I think my bike was connected to yhe app at the time. And they were there.
Perhaps your bike needs updating? I have a feeling a shop may need to do that, but not 100% sure.

A new Fuel+ in the flesh.
Not keen on the cranked top tube, but this is a small frame. Presumably these are going to be launched imminently.

So it looks like Evans cycles of all shops might be first off the marks with the new Fuel+.

£5,500 with the 580wh battery looks not too bad. I’m thinking it’ll be an alloy frame for that money.

The link goes to an unknown page when clicked, hence the search result image posted.

So had a new motor in March, have hardly done a lot of miles and now it’s starting to make knocking/grinding noises again and the resistance with the motor off seems so bad.

Was trying to cycle along the flat firework and it just felt like I was peddling against such a resistance it was not fun at all.

So, as I mentioned on another thread, the hpr50 motor in my fuel exe has broken (again) and it's outside warranty, so I've decided I may as well buy the new hpr60 motor and see how that goes.

I've just ordered it via the UK importer, and I already have the service dongle and dealer software, so I'll update this thread with how it goes.

Watching with interest, I saw something about limiting the power to 300W because you have to remove the cooling fins. Of course it would be interesting if you leave the cooling fins on and mod the cover instead.... how will the software know? Also very curious to see if the claimed efficiency improvement with the HPR60 is as high as initial tests say...

Yeah, I was planning to cut a hole in the plastic motor cover to allow me to leave the cooling fins in place, but as you say, I'm not sure whether I can select in the software whether I have 300w or 350w max.

Will feed back here with how it all goes.

I'm less bothered about an extra 50w, the reported efficiency gains are of more interest.

I know very clearly how much climbing I typically get from the current motor/battery combo (about 2600 feet of climb on my usual ride from the 360wh battery , about 1150 feet of climb from the range extender ) , so should be able to easily see if there has been a noticeable improvement.

@Mteam as a long time pioneer to the EXE community, you go! We nervously await good feedback! When are you getting delivery of your HPR60? I am tired of waiting for the official Fuel+ release, so some good content would go a long way to ease the pain! ;)

Found some more dealer links to the Gen 2. I dont think there is a 9.5 version this time round.

9.7 Gen 2, eu5999, this is a great price, considering that the 9.7 gen1 launched at eu7999:

Good spec, mechanical Shimano XT, Fox Factory, eu1500 cheaper than DI2:

Same bike, but in DI2:

Some geo numbers on this listing:
